  1. Can this be installed by the owner?
  2. I also use The Weather Channel app. I'm pretty sure it's applicable in Europe. Good luck.
  3. I got the one from Sporty's about eight years ago and have been happy with it.
  4. I totally agree with Jamie. For years I financed lots of things including airplanes. My last divorce forced me to live below my means. I'm now retired and debt free. I co-own a '78 J with a great partner. We pay cash for everything and don't buy anything we cannot afford.
  5. I'd like to give Kudos to Phillip and his SwitchBox. I was having some problems with my unit, and after some emails and phone calls, I sent it back to him. He had it fixed the day he got it and overnighted it back to at no charge. It's nice to see someone stand behind their product.
  6. I've experienced this several times over the Blue Ridge mountains in a J model. I was able to maintain altitude, but lost some airspeed. Once, in a Grumman Toger, I was unable to hold 7500 feet, told the controller, and finally stabilized at 5000.
  7. I think you have to bite the bullet and buy a new data card. I have two and just keep switching them.
  8. Bring back the medium body and price it right. After all it has been your all time best seller. I know I'm not saying anything new, I just want Mooney International to listen. Thanks
  9. Thanks, I'll check out all of your suggestions. I'm scheduled with an avionics shop on Wed
  10. We have owned a '78 J for about a year and a half. During that time the electric trim worked intermittently. I had the trim motor checked, all the contacts checked and replaced the trim switch. This is not the split switch. It still only works intermittently. I have to push down on the switch to activate a relay, then push the switch forward for nose down or pull back for nose up. It almost always works on the ground, but not all the time while in the air. I'm taking the airplane in to trouble shoot in two days. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.
  11. Thanks, this has been more difficult than I thought it would be.
  12. I just started removing, cleaning and repainting the plastic interior panels in our '78 J. I chipped the cover that goes over the emergency baggage door release. Does anyone know where I can get a new one. Also, how do you remove the rotating ceiling vents?
  13. To be fair, you both should fly LOP or ROP. Some day it would be fun to involve more of us in a round robin race.
  14. I have a SwitchBox that I use to turn on our engine pre-heat in the winter and I love it. I live 30 minutes from the airport so it saves me a lot of time and money. Tim
  15. I checked the can and it says "For use on glass, windows, mirrors and Plexiglass"
  16. I also use the RoboTow and have been happy with it. I also added wheels and just use the standard battery that came with it. The only problem is in the winter if there's a little snow on the tarmac in front of our hangar. The nose wheel will pick up a little snow and transfer it to the driving cylinder. This causes some slippage and I have to stop and clean off the cylinder. Not a big problem, just a little hassle. Tim
  17. I'm considering replacing the light bulb in the floor gear indicator with an LED one. Does anyone know what would be the correct one to use? Thanks, Tim
  18. It's the same with avionics. "Experimental" planes can legally fly in the same IFR environment system as "certified" planes with brand new, state of the art avionics, at a fraction of the price we have to pay. How is it safer for us to use 30-40 old radios and autopilots because new ones are too expensive? The FAA serves at the pleasure of the airlines. They don't give a crap about GA, especially the little guys. You know the saying..."they're not happy until you're not happy"!
  19. I'm interested. Please send me an email...tpercarpio@yahoo.com
  20. Does the 8 grand include seats?
  21. I use Turtle Wax Bug and Tar Remover on the belly of our plane. It works great, is easy to use and leaves a smooth shine.
  22. I'm not in the market for an airplane, but I'm always looking. I enjoy the hunt. You're right, Cruiser, it's a nice paint job.
  23. Any comments on this? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1996-Mooney-Ovation-/230986764468?forcev4exp=true
  24. I agree with all of the comments. Why isn't AOPA working on this to help out it's members? Is there any way to get a grass roots movement started to force change? Also, why does an engine of 1960's technology cost so much to buy or overhaul?
  25. Never forgot a cover, but I tried to taxi with one tie down rope still attached. I had to shut down, untie and get back in and start up again. Fortunately, no one was around.
