  1. How about a spray on coating using nano technology to keep ice off the airframe as well as the propeller?
  2. We had our engine overhauled at Columbia last year and were affected by the AD. 3 out of 4 of our bushings failed with 2 falling out of the connecting rods without using the tool. The third one failed after 2 turns, they replaced all 4. We shared the cost with Columbia and hope to get something back from Lycoming since it was their parts that failed. Columbia did nothing wrong and neither did we. Customer service is the hallmark of all good businesses and I think Lycoming is coming up short in that regard.
  3. I think it would look great on our blue and white Mooney.
  4. I would buy a whole set, especially if they're labeled.
  5. We had a right turning tendency and found the left flap did not fully retract. A small metal tab caught on the trailing edge of the wing. That was pushed down and burnished into place...problem solved.
  6. Thanks for the replies. I'll let you know what I decide to do. The reason I'm looking at something different is because we're having a problem with the door closing completely. A new seal was placed at the last annual and it didn't solve the problem.
  7. Has anyone tried this fuselage door seal? http://www.aircraftdoorseals.com/product/mooney/m20-series/entry-door-seal-fuselage-installation/
  8. BillC...we took off today with flaps is the take off position and watched carefully as the flaps retracted. Sure enough, the left flap did not completely retract and we had the right turn tendency. We slowed down and put full flaps down as if landing and then retracted them. Once again the left flap did not fully retract and we still had the right turn tendency. It was just a short flight to a MSC, Weber Aircraft. Dorn checked it on the ground and found a small piece of metal on the flap that was distorted and catching on the trailing edge of the wing. I forgot to take a picture, sorry. He straightened it out and put a piece of Teflon tape over it. It solved the problem very easily. Bill, thank you for pointing us in the right direction.
  9. Thanks. Maybe we can meet at a NJ Mooney fly-in someplace. You met my partner, Larry at HGR.
  10. Thanks, these are all good suggestions and we'll try them soon. We're going flying again tomorrow and we'll see what happens. The last couple of flights everything was working normally. Bob-S50...when it happens, it seems to occur when we level off, but it may begin during the climb, I'll just have to pay more attention. I'll also try walking the rudders.
  11. Oscar, we're having an uncontrolled intermittent right turning tendency and suspect a gear door problem. What kind of camera do you have mounted on the belly, and how did you attach it? Thanks, Tim
  12. We had the gear doors checked at a MSC and were told it looked good. We did not look at the ball when this was happening so I don't have that answer, but we will check it next time. When we slow down it seems to go away. By the time we're on downwind, it feels normal again so cycling the flaps won't tell us anything. We're suspicious of the gear doors because it only happens at higher airspeeds. It's the intermittent occurrence that has us puzzled. We flew several times today and nothing happened. I'm going to look into mounting a camera to watch the gear doors.
  13. Chrisk. We're thinking about a camera. Any recommendations? Also, how do you attach a camera?
  14. Chris,. Yes the flaps are fully retracted. We flew today and everything was perfect.
  15. Starting 9 months ago, my partner and I have experienced with increasing frequency an intermittent uncommanded roll to the right when leveling out for cruise. This roll will keep going unless counteracted by considerable opposite aileron and will lessen as we slow down for the pattern. We have been to two avionics shops thinking the problem is the roll server, but it checks out. Also the problem now happens with the AP off. We have also taken it to an MSC, and the airframe, controls, landing gear was inspected. Again, the intermittent nature of the problem makes this a less likely source. Has anybody heard of such a problem or experienced something similar?
  16. Thanks. The power supply is still good so we will probably just replace the bulb with the one suggested above.
  17. Thanks for both responses, I'll look into them. Our mechanic said the replacement bulbs were expensive and the LED's even more so. We may have to get someone else to take a look.
  18. I co-own our airplane and when I fly with my partner I usually fly one leg and he flys the other. We always switch headsets and dealing with the wires is a pita. On exiting the aircraft I have caught my foot in a wire on numerous occasions since we always have two headsets hooked up. I bought a Tango just for those reasons. Our plane in in for annual so I haven't tried it out yet. I already complained to Lightspeed about needing to open the door in order to charge the headset. I hope to try it out next week.
  19. Anyone know of a less expensive strobe light bulb. The original was a Hoskins 204880 and had a Whelens replacement. The power unit is okay.
  20. We have a 1980 J and need a replacement strobe light bulb. It's a Hoskins unit with a Whelen replacement bulb. Are there any less expensive replacement bulbs out there? Thanks, Tim Percarpio N97136
  21. We did the ES upgrade at Lancaster Avionics at KLNS. One wire had to be replaced because it wasn't the correct one at the original installation. They provided a free loaner. The installation cost was about $600.00. It took a little over one week. No problems...we're happy!
  22. We have a Stratus II and love it. Here's a picture from my iPad flying to Florence, SC on our way home from Sun 'N Fun...
