  1. I had Bruce do my interior with "Bruce's Spatial Interior" when my plane was at Wilmar for weepnomore tank seal last year. I really really like it. I also had the nearby leather shop do the furniture and it turned out fantastic. They are SCS in Duluth, and Bruce already has a good relationship with them, and they have good experience with Mooney. SCS also does a lot of custom OEM work for Cirrus since they are in Duluth. Also they did my rugs.
  2. yikes, that is scary. I have my annual coming up in late Oct. What can I ask to help a bit to mitigate the risk of that? Is there anything I can check during preflight, or in flight to help mitigate the risk of this? Edit: jlunseth I see you answered some of what I asked while I was still responding. Thanks! Still I leave the questions up for further input.
  3. I also have a subaru WRX-STI. I run it at -30F and 90F. I turn it on and drive.....and then when I get there I turn it off.
  4. In your rocket? Please share.
  5. Oh ok! Well this must be it .. it's not showing when reading here on my iPhone.
  6. Huh! You are right! I used to have a signature block that seems to no longer be active / I didn't do that / what happened?
  7. I agree - I wish we did it like beechtalk for the reasons you said.
  8. I was in New Brunswick about a year ago college shopping at Bowdein with my son - it was fine in my opinion.
  9. My identity is printed on my signature block. I am Erik Bollt, and so aviatoreb should be pretty easy to guess where that came from.
  10. My theory is it is all cuz of the internet - and Facebook - and cable channels - no common experience anymore. We can pick and choose what "news" and alternative fact we wish to worship and never shall the two (or three or four) views meet.
  11. seven hundred million dollars. SEVEN HUNDRED MILLION DOLLARS. Say that like an Austin Powers bad guy Dr Evil and it sounds funnier.
  12. I had the p2audio system installed immediately who I bought my mooney 7.5 years ago - and I still love it.
  13. Sure - but Im getting two Carbon Cub's, because its too much trouble to change back and forth between floats and tundra tires.
  14. Darn - I had to buy a ticket to win?!! No wonder I didn't win.
  15. I predict that this one will be the most liked post ever on Mooneyspace. LIKE!
  16. I predict that this one will be the most liked post every on Mooneyspace. LIKE!
  17. Hi - thanks for asking....I hope to be posting paint and interior pictures in about two weeks! Stand by.... So it will look all new except the panel at that point. And we are talking panel here.
  18. ..there's always, trutrek. and trio. and dynon. Gotta love competition!
  19. Huh - that's interesting. So as I understand it this is an autopilot that needs attitude, so does that mean it has a built in AHARS - not that I doubt it could. My iphone has a built in AHARS. This makes the GFC600 not so drastically more expensive, but still, I like the idea of 14k including two G5s. That's a complete autopilot and glass panel. As for FIKI vs not FIKI if that is the line they choose in the sand, then wohoo for my no-FIKI tks system.
  20. Will that help keep me from getting stupid and accidentally getting too slow in level flight even when hand flying? Not that I am planning on getting stupid, but I am well aware that everyone can make a mistake and planning to build in as many fail safes as possible can only help. What was the name of the Mooney test pilot who made just that error one day, and who perished in a classic base to final turn - surprisingly despite his enormous experience. That to me is a lesson not that he was stupid, but that if even he can make a mistake, then clearly so can I. Another thing is clear to me in this thread - we do not know what will be available for MY airplane at this time, but something will be. So I changed my mind. I will not install a G5 with GPSS premptively in October during my annual, since I do not want to get cornered into having to remove it soon thereafter if some other autopilot is the best or only available. Best to let this all shake out for 6-9 months. And hope my legacy stuff keeps on ticking.
  21. Nice try but everyone knows that Confucious flew a carbon cub.
  22. Plus if you are starting steam guage as many of us are, then that $14k is the complete parts cost for the GFC500 since it includes two G5's doesn't it? But for the GFC600, then you need to add onto that $24k the cost of at least an aspen install, which is another 14k? Or a G500 which is what, $22K? So thats either 38k or 46k, Labor not included vs 14k labor not included.
  23. TBM930. and keep my rocket and Ill need two carbon cubs - one on floats and one with tundra tires. and a golf cart to get to the hangar. and a heated hangar to keep it all cozy. and for when I need to go longer range than the TBM930, like to Europe, ok then I'll fly netjets. Im still trying to decide about the helicopter. I live on the opposite side of a river from where I work, and its two miles to ride my bicycle along the roads and across the two bridges, but only about 1/2 mile if you go direct so a helicopter would be useful. It is too shallow for a speed boat - although I have done it by kayak. And it freezes in the winter - Although I saw a really cool personal size hovercraft at Oshkosh. I'll need one of those.
  24. Exactly - the danger is to Garmin loosing the majority of the M20 business - they will know that if they try and force all of us to pay 20k for a GFC600 and the matching required G500 - another 25k plus install...there will be VASTLY fewer M20's buying the garmin product, and so we will be fine, we will buy trutrek, trio, or Dynon. This time the market place of choices and economics are on our side. Eat it up Garmin! That said - Garmin has a feature that none of the others have, that I very much want - which is envelope protection that is active even when hand flying. And I also want straight and level button. But those other 3 would get my money if....
