Has anyone figured out how to get rid of condensation drops in their wing fuel gauges without removing them from the plane and leaving the inspection covers in?
-
From what I've read and heard Berry mounts aren't approved for Bravo's/TLS's and I believe there's an SB on them as well as it being stated in the service manual.
-
Update on my Bravo and the vibration problem, I just had the engine mounts replaced with new Lord mounts and now theres quite a positive difference. It's actually very smooth throughout all the engine RPM ranges. When the shop replaced the previous mounts they were found to be askew in the engine mount so that the rubber didn't fit properly in the mount and we also found the engine mount bolt was loose. Flew from FXE up to GSP and tried the range of RPM's from 2200 to 2550 and it feels great now.

FS: Brand New Garmin GTN 750xi
Steve Dawson replied to Steve Dawson's topic in Avionics / Parts Classifieds
I have about 15 hours with it and I really like it's ability to do "things" with it. I haven't used the keyboard but I use the IFD 100 and Foreflight and enjoy the transferability. So far the ability to change the data fields to the way I want is more than Garmin has. I flew roughly 10 years with a GTN 750 in my J and didn't have any issues with it. I do like it's larger screen but with a coupled Area 760 to the IFD I can get the information I need and want for IFR . Flying through Florida last week it was nice to have the traffic box separate in the data field as well as having distance and time to different waypoints in other data fields. Having both wifi and BT helps with connections. I'm still learning so it'll get more useful.- 6 replies

FS: Brand New Garmin GTN 750xi
Steve Dawson replied to Steve Dawson's topic in Avionics / Parts Classifieds
As of now I'm not selling the Bravo. I've just spent a lot of money and time on it and it's currently having the fuel tanks resealed. I ordered the 750 back in September and they kept delaying the delivery multiple times so I bought and installed an Avidyne IFD 540.- 6 replies

I have very little health care education so it's a guess but what happens to the CO2 you expel when the air pressure is less at altitude? Or is the CO2 expelled as well at altitude as it as on the ground?

Thanks Rick, very helpful

Impressive Rick, When did you install the fine wires and did they help with getting your engine to run LOP and run smooth?
-
Thanks for the information on the Tempest fine wires. They're next on the list for the next thing to do. I have a tank reseal booked for this month so I'm watching my budget for now. Hopefully this will work because I didn't want to go through changing the engine mounts yet. Just out of curiosity, after you installed the fine wires, did you notice a difference in RPM drop when doing a mag check? It was a dynamic engine/prop balance done so technically it was the prop that had the weights and the engine wasn't touched.

Resurrecting this old post, Great info from John Green, Scot, Andy and everyone about the details of running the Bravo. I just tried a the power settings that John mentioned here and another one of his posts with almost the same results. It's taken awhile to get the plane rigged properly but now it's flying straight and close to the same speeds with the power settings shown he described. I had the engine balanced (.3 ifs @2300 RPM) and it still has a bit of a vibration at 2300 RPM when flying so I may replace the engine Lord mounts and see if that helps, but I'm very happy with all the great info in these old posts.

I had a sidewinder for my J but unfortunately the person that bought my plane realized how versatile they are so he wanted it with the purchase. When I bought the Bravo the seller included a RoboTow. It's pretty good and will tow the plane over a 1/2 mile on one battery. That said I ordered a Redline Sidewinder and I'm selling the RoboTow if you're interested?

Anyone installed a JPI 900 or 930?
Steve Dawson replied to Steve Dawson's topic in Mooney Bravo Owners
Thanks Art, I figured that out a couple days ago. I could only find one sentence in the manual stating that they were in series and that helped. Second was to supply a separate ground. JPI didn't help at all. Secondly I'm having a difficult time getting the fuel pressure sensor to work. -
Just finishing off installing a JPI 900 in my Bravo and I have a couple questions on where you connected the fuel pressure sensor and on the fuel tank senders how did you connect the two individual fuel tank senders in each tank. I've already talked to JPI and they don't know. Thanks

Avidyne’s Dirty Little Secret “Black List”
Steve Dawson replied to Frank B.'s topic in Avionics/Panel Discussion
Frank you have an agenda. You haven't posted all the information on here that you did on BT so maybe you can update us on current your Avidyne asset status and how it came to be. You didn't have to slam Avidyne and the people that own Avidyne equipment to notify us of Avidyne's transparent (slightly hidden) policy. Why not just state that if you buy a used Avidyne product or any ones product to check before with the manufacturer on the status of that equipment. And to add that if someone has an accident or incident with their aircraft to make sure that their insurance covers that loss. Personally I would never buy anything off of you because your propensity to hide facts that maybe circumstantial to the buyers advantage. Sophistry! As I stated on BT I think Avidyne has stepped up and given general aviation a huge advantage on choices. They've risked their funds, time, research and reputation to supply a very worthy competition to Garmin when a few others have backed away. I have had excellent service from Avidyne and Chase as well as our local avionics shop (Brant Areo). -
79 M20J - electric trim not working
Steve Dawson replied to Papa K's topic in Modern Mooney Discussion
I had the same issue when I owned my J. Before you start spending money on repairs, open the inspection door on the side and locate where servo to trim tube is. There's a chain connecting the two and it sometimes starts to seize or just needs lubrication. Or when its cold it will contract. Try spraying some lubrication on it and manually exercise the trim wheel and see if that helps. I think I spend a couple AMU's until I figured that out. -
What sort of equipment are you looking for and what years?

Which Rivets for the panel Rack.
Steve Dawson replied to Steve Dawson's topic in Avionics/Panel Discussion
Thanks guys. I just ordered some from AS. -
The shop I'm using is unfamiliar with Mooneys so does anyone know what the name and dimension of the original flat rivets in the panel are? Much thanks Steve
-
Rivet question. Can a panel be worked on too much?
Steve Dawson replied to rbridges's topic in Avionics/Panel Discussion
I'd like to restart this threat and ask does anyone know which rivets are needed to replace the original flat rivets. We've added and moved a few items in the stacks and wanted to put in the same rivets. The shop is unfamiliar with Mooney's Thanks Steve -
