  1. @Alan Fox I have the two smaller pieces pictured that I bought from the previous owner. Are they useful on their own? Obviously, I've never used them.
  2. I lean mine back to the point of it starting to stumble then add a little richness. You'll foul plugs if you go full rich on the ground much. I have an engine monitor for all four cylinders, and the temps look great when leaned. As far as prop RPM, I keep it around 1000-1100. I read this somewhere for keeping engine internals lubricated.
  3. Does the ads-b show lightning strikes? or do you still need a stormscope? Someone told me the Aspen PFD and gtx345 would show the strikes but thought it would be similar to the ads-b on my foreflight.
  4. I was going to ask which mag you changed. Basically disable the SOS? Is any of that stuff removed?
  5. yeah, that's the beige wire I was mentioning.
  6. I may be missing the obvious, but is that beige wire in the center of the pic connected properly?
  7. I figured as much. Just wondering what integer starts it.
  8. I've tried to mind my own business, but I've gotta ask. How much would one of those cost?
  9. I don't think it would look too obsolete. I honestly couldn't tell you the difference between the various iPads by looking at the screens alone.
  10. Are you keeping the kt74? Or going Garmin for integration?
  11. I think it's worth $250,000,000 for my anguish.
  12. I was recently enjoying a sunny day in central Texas. I was admiring the clouds when this static wick jabbed me in the eye. Now I know who to sue.
  13. how long did it take? could they do it same day? or is it a pretty lengthy process?
  14. Don't get me wrong. I don't think it's a bad business model. I was replying to Hyett's earlier post. I just don't think the king of the hill will necessarily be the one with the most open architecture.
  15. IMO, it looks like Garmin is going to be the bully in the sandbox, but I don't think open architecture is in their vocabulary.
  16. One of the things I like about the g3x is that the transponder and engine monitor can be added to the display. I read an old article from 2011 where JPI said something about developing for Aspen's connected panel. Was that just talk or is something the works?
  17. The Teflon inserts are no longer available for my manual hydraulic flaps pump, so I had to have someone on the forum make some. The owner produced parts are another route for some things, too.
  18. Thanks. I didn't know if the 3rd screen added some capability I like putting a plate on there, but my iPad does that for me. Also, I thought it may add another subscription cost.
  19. Just wondering if there is any good reasons for the third panel. I like the look but didn't know if the extra cost/space was worth it. Looks like AOA or a plate could be put on. It but otherwise just a redundant screen.
  20. I went ahead and bought the garmin programmer. For whatever reason, it's cheaper going through them than jeppesen for my 430.
  21. just out of curiosity, what are those going for?
  22. I thought I'd update this 4643 posts later. Just an FYI for anyone else that may come across this thread. It turned out to be a bad capacitor in the KMA24 itself. It was repaired without too much hassle and worked great until I sold it for my PMA450.
  23. Picked up my Mooney with the Aspen MAX upgrade. I was shown a mooney getting complete Garmin upgrade. Looks great. I still think Aspen was best for my situation, but I can't get over how nice the g3x looks. I love the large screen.
  24. Just an update. Picked up tonight. mfd and PFD upgrade. Charged 3 hrs labor plus $79 shipping. Part of labor was installing audio wire to my PMA450.
