  1. I've got a price chart for pre-201 mooneys. It's in the july 2010 issue of MAPA LOG. It may be similar to VREF, but if you want it, let me know and I could fax a copy to you.
  2. I think you're better off with an F model. It has a little better useable load when loaded with the same amount of fuel. I don't know how big you are, but I bought a C model, and I can realistically only carry 3 people. The leg room is also tight in the back. The F will give you another 5 inches. The C model is great for me and my wife. If I need a 4 spot plane (maybe 1 or 2 times a year for me), I'll have to borrow or rent.
  3. Quote: eaglebkh Way to go! Just curious if they are still teaching the rule about always keeping the RPM >= MP?
  4. Quote: DaV8or So I went out to the hangar today and did some investigating. Turns out, it was real easy to remove the previous owner's Airgizmo mount and look behind the panel. Also there is a little peice of aluminum above my audio panel that was just barely glued there, I had a peek there too. I now know that my option one for my MVP-50 posted earlier in this thread is never going to happen. The steel frame bars behind panel will not allow enough room for both the MVP-50 and the GNS 430. Looks as though my center stack will stay the same as it is now. Good news is, there does not seem to be any problem at all with option two. Question is, how bad is it to have the tach and MP far to the right? Is that super annoying? Here's what I saw today:
  5. Brian, I'm amazed at how much work you did to your plane. I checked out your website, and your E model looks great, especially compared to its original condition.
  6. I'd really look for one with a 430 or something similar. Even if you don't care for it, it will help with resale when the time comes. I also wanted an autopilot when I bought mine. My line of thought was that it would be cheaper to buy it already installed than paying for it myself. You mentioned looking at an Orlando plane. A lot of people warned me about Florida planes and corrosion. take that with a grain of salt b/c I have no first hand experience with it.
  7. I admit that I'm new to mooneys, but I did shop for a long time. Does anyone see anything that makes this plane stand out for the price. IMO, it seems a little high compared to others I've seen along the way.
  8. Quote: KLRDMD You only need to remember GUMPS: G - Gear U - Undercarriage M - Man, did I put the gear down ? P - Put the gear down S - Shit, the gear is down, isn't it ?
  9. well, I got my first official solo time in the mooney. I love the way it feels. very responsive feel in the yokes. landing really isn't bad if you catch it at 70 knots. I tend to start my flare early (bad habit I can't seem to break), so ground effect had me gliding for longer than I'd seen in the cherokee.

  11. took a few fridays b/c of weather, but finally got the sign off. Now I'm going to start my Instrument training. If you hear 6099Q on the radio, watch out, I'm probably dangerous up there. lol.
  12. Quote: KLRDMD I'm happy to go take a look, what are the specifics ?
  13. I went from a 180 cherokee to the m20c. I can tell a difference around shoulder level, but it's not bad. I did lose around 70-80 lbs of useable load in the transition, but it was worth it to me (40 knots faster). I realize I won't be able to fly the kids as they get older, but I'll rent or borrow if I need something bigger.
  14. Quote: KLRDMD I doubt that I'm the only one that can afford a newer plane but choose to not own one. I do not currently find the benefits of the newer ones worth the incremental cost.
  15. thanks, I replied to the PM.
  16. Quote: jkb458 Hey Robert, Call Nick Porcell at Lowe Aviation, (478) 788-3491 (Middle Georgia Regional). Excellent avionics shop and first-class people!!! I fly into PXE often (twice a month) and would love to see your Mooney!!! Best regards, Jeff Jeff, We've fiddled with it a bit, and we think it's the panel. Unfortunately, bench testing it costs nearly as much as a used one. I'm tempted to buy a used King panel and switch it. Anyway, give me a shout the next time you fly down to the metropolis of Perry, GA. I've got the mooney in an open T hangar until a closed hangar becomes available. Rob
  17. it's all relative. I flew back from Hilton Head in a 180 Cherokee and the GPS read 67 knots groundspeed. It's frustrating to see cars moving faster than you.
  18. I just purchased my 66 c model. It has a factory 201 cowling, and I noticed that one of the cylinders ran much cooler than the other 3. I can't remember which one it was, though.
  19. thanks for the responses. is it simply a pigtail connection in the back or a bunch of separate wires? I did a search and it appears to be relatively easy to remove. I just don't want to end up with a big ole' mess.
  20. first post on this forum, and I need help. I just recently purchased a '66 mooney c model, and it is awesome. anyway, it has a garmin 430 and king kx155 radios. a king kma-24 audio panel along with a 4 spot intercom completes the setup. the volume in the headset is very low. It doesn't matter which radios or headsets I use, I can barely hear radio traffic. I've even tried using the jacks in the rear sets. On the other hand, the intercom works fine. It has a separate volume control, and I can blow my eardrums out with it. There is a speaker located in the roof panel, and it is also very loud. When I select it with the KMA24, I can adjust the volume to the point where it's screaming at you. I've played with comm1 and comm2 volumes on the panel, and I've maxed out the volumes on the radios, but it never gets very loud through the headsets. Does it sound like bad wiring or possible problem with the KMA-24? thanks in advance.
