  1. Here is Scottfromiowa's last post..... -a- You are a control freak. You do not like NOT being in control. This will be the last post I make on Mooneyspace. Dig a hole deeper? What are you a self-appointed parental figure? Get over yourself. This is the real world. There is vulgar language, insanity and oppression. You are just one more That was February 18th, 2015 Mynameisnobody joined on February 19th, 2015.... I guess if he made a new profile it is technically true that "Scottfromiowa" never posted again? But Scott Thompson, aka mynameisnobody is still definitely posting. A little schizophrenic reasoning in my opinion, but hey, to each their own...
  2. Please disregard "mynameisnobody" he has some pretty extreme personality disorders and should not be taken seriously. For background, you should search "Scottfromiowa" which was his previous monicker on this site. Scottfromiowa/mynameisnobody would go on such crazy tirades/rants, that he was blocked from the site by the administrator... Scott/nobody actually threw a tantrum about a year ago and claimed he would never post on this site again. That same day, he created the alias of Mynameisnobody and was posting that same day... Pretty pathetic but there you go... There is a function on the site where you can ignore specific users. You won't even see the posts...

  4. Good for you! I remember meeting you in Columbia when you were a student and it sounded like you were just starting out with the aircraft tool pack. Now you have a mooney and your product is in sportys and your going to Aero! Kind of a big deal in a seemingly short time. Must have been tons of work making that happen!
  5. According to google, that should be do-able for them...
  6. Are your seats like this? Or are they bench style? The place will actually come and measure themselves, if they're like the picture. I really appreciate the offer. Are you close-ish to Aurora CO?
  7. yeah, that's a problem for measurements. Mine has been redone, but is original style.
  8. I ordered rear seat sheepskin covers from aerosheep for my 84 231. Apparently not many ppl get the backseat covers and they havnt done one of those yet. They want to confirm their pattern. Is there anyone near aurora with a 231 that they could measure? I think 20js of that vintage have the same seats, so that may be an option too. thank you in advance

  10. Henry Reid? Maybe Reid Hillview? RHV? There was a flight school run by Amelia Reid there and I think she was the daughter of the original airport founders (Bob or Cecil?)
  11. If you're still interested in this plane, I'm based at the same airport and can at least put eyes on it and chat with the sales guy, get some pics, etc. I've taxied past it a few times... Let me know
  12. This reminds me of a few of the people here...Lots of intensity...
  13. Or you're excited and dreaming about what you might want someday... These guys on Mooneyspace are just "Some guy on the internet." You don't need to justify everything. You don't know us and we don't know you...For the best advice, find someone at West Valley Flying Club who knows you and talk to them. Just because someone is on Mooneyspace, certainly doesn't make them an expert, that includes me. Although I am an expert
  14. I'm going to go the other way...Samauri first said his dream plane is a Cessna 340, but realized that was too much plane, based on advice from others. Maybe it isn't. Everyone is saying he needs more time and experience before going to a Rocket. That is true. He will probably have 75 + hours before he starts plane shopping and he is going to need a type checkout/insurance requirements anyway. Plus, from his posts, he likely will get a competent type instructor and do more training than is required. If Samauri just goes for the twin, which might be a better fit for him anyway, he will definitely need to do extensive training...possibly in the plane he will be flying. He would be required to get a multi rating, so that is quite a few hours in type, right there. During that training, maybe he grabs an instrument too? Great! Does he have enough time then to fly safely? Maybe...depends on him. During that multi-rating/(Hopefully combined with an instrument rating) he could realistically get quite a bit of real world/cross country/weather experience that it might normally take hundreds of hours to acquire, if he trained smart. In the end, weigh the risks, get the training, do what you want and don't kill anyone else in the process. You actually seem like you're putting the time and effort and money into getting the right kind of training. If you continued that course, and trained well and paid to get some real world experience, which I think you would, then you probably would be fine in a 340.
  15. For the record, I wasn't questioning the veracity of the tale. I just honestly wanted to know how they manged ground ops with the cardboard inserts. But now that this has been revealed, I have to say that there is no way I would let someone taxi and takeoff in MY plane in such a condition, FAA inspector or not. But perhaps when I was less experienced I wouldn't have been so bold as to refuse. That's my point. It's ok to refuse, even if the guy is an expert. It's ok to say no. In the story above about the snow covered runway, I would have said no. Granted, I fly a mooney and don't have much snow covered runway takeoff/landing experience (1 takeoff ever) so maybe it was fine. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. Yeah we know what an FAA designee is. This is just an example showing that even someone with tons of experience can have very bad judgement. You guys had your private certificates already and were getting your IFR and you still went along with this? Knowing "buzzards" were around, not to mention other possibly nordo planes? Bigger question, knowing what you know now, would you do this again? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  18. I've heard about the trimming nightmares with plane plastics and I just bought two pieces, an emergency gear extension cover and a right kick panel. I was expecting a horrible time. The kick panel fit perfectly with no trimming and was much better quality/thicker plastic than the original. The gear cover only required trimming for the holes for the extension hardware and was really easy. So only two data points and the parts may not be representative of other pieces, but it was a good experience. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. Like above, any oil is probably fine, if it's changed regularly. Just an FYI though, according to the POH for the 231, 15w50 is the recommended oil for most temperatures. Top gun (MSC) recommended that for my 231. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. +1 for the French movie sky fighters...cheesy plot but still interesting and great non cgi non modeled flying footage Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  22. I had to have mooney make (special order from their source actually) two new ones for my 1963 C, they are an older style. That was $600 for both...I'm surprised that this style supposedly is $2800 each new. Mooney implied mine were the expensive ones. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. it supposedly has new o rings also. Only $99. Not as shiny though Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. I think that is too cold too...but yeah, based on what? I'm not sure... I wouldn't have liked it either and would have heated it up too... My #5 is coldest also, and my oil temp gets around 260 often, so I will fully close the cowl flaps to get the temps up, then I have to trail them because a couple other cylinders start creeping up too warm...
