  1. Check you insurance policy, some require paved runways!
  2. My Ovation 2 DX legally holds 89 gallons. There are about two inches of extensions inside the filler openings to prevent filling to 102 gallons. If your patient, you can fill it to 102.
  3. The vac gage does not read below 3.0 When it hits 3.0 it will flash to indicate a low vac issue. At that point your low vac light should be flashing.
  4. I have the same autopilot connected to the Garmin 530/430 wass units. When flying an RNAV approach you have to fly in nav mode on the autopilot until the final approach fix. You have the Garmin in approach mode but wait to hit approach on the autopilot. You can fly the hold in nav mode without touching the controls and the autopilot will fly the entire hold. Than when you are lined up on final and pass the Final approach fix hit approach on the autopilot.
  5. There available on ebay.
  6. I would check for a partially clogged injector on #1.
  7. There is no access to tank. Just a depression in surface of wing.
  8. There is a service bulletin explaning how to rotate the element to the vertical position to lessen shock vibration and extend bulb life.
  9. I had just over 1000 hours at the time it was replaced by Premier.
  10. When I purchased my used Ovation from Premier, they replaced the no back spring without charge to me as it was a SB.
  11. 2003 Ovation has a timer switch. No way to turn it off, you have to wait for the timer circuit to activate for the light to go out.
  12. I had a similiar event years ago. I thought it could be fixed but we bought a salvage one and had it painted. Cost was $500 from salvage yard plus painting and labor.
  13. In cold weather I sometimes get a high Vac light. It usually goes away in a minute or 2 or running the engine.
  14. The probe was replaced because it had failed. If about 100 degrees above individual egt probes seems correct then its probably the correct probe. The log book shows it was replaced with a part # 86255. When I am in cruise, it always indicates above blue arc. Thanks for the help.
  15. When I purchased my Ovation 2 the EGT probe for the factory installed EGT gage with the blue box had just been replaced. I think it may have the wrong probe. Alcor has them with different resistances. The readings I get are always higher than the readings on the JPI by about 100 degrees. The JPI probes are installed close to the cylinders and the factory probe is installed where the exhaust pipes merge. Should it not be cooler further away from the cylinders? To try to keep the needle in the blue zone allows almost no leaning. Does anyone know the correct part number or correct Alcor number?
  16. I assume you have electrical flaps. I had a similar problem with my 1993 M20J. The cause was oil entering the motor during filter changes. The flaps would only work with the motor running. The vibration seemed to help. I replaced the motor only. The gears worked fine. You can also have the motor rebuilt. Laser Mooney had a recommendation on that. A shop in Ca. Cover the motor during filter changes!
  17. I bought some from Airtex and replaced the welt around the door. It's better than the original material. It's a tedious job replace all those little screws that hold it in place. Lay a towel or something down to catch the ones you drop. I took the seat out to get working room. A small sharp punch to make holes in the material to put the screws through and find the holes around the door. It will look great when your done.
  18. I bought and sold a plane with Premier. They did everything right. They are fair and stand behind their product.
  19. I powered my 496 from the 28 volt outlet in my 93 M20J. 496 can handle 28 or 12 volts. I now power it from the 12 volt outlet in my 2003 Ovation.
  20. If you turn off the master the speed brakes will snap closed if extended. They probably need a lub. You have to remove them for that. Never use a spay lube as it will get on the clutches. Make sure the drains are clean and open. Dirt builds up at the bottom and clogs the drain. When you fly high / cold they will freeze and possibly damage the units if you extend them while frozen because of a clogged drain. When I leave the plane out of the hanger for extended periods, I put some painters blue tape over the speed brake opening to keep them clean.
  21. I found the potentiometer that sends the signal to the indicator. It needed to be exercised and then started to work normally. I was going to spray it with electrical contact cleaner but wasn't sure it would get to where it was needed. Reset it with the help of someone sitting in the cockpit and it's working fine now. You need a small allen wrench and a small open end wrench to remove it.
  22. Thanks for the replies, I start looking there.
  23. The electrical flap position indicator in my Ovation has suddenly gone out of adjustment. When flaps are up it shows half flaps. When flaps are down it disappears. Anyone know where the flap electrical position pick-up sensor is located? I guess that it's probably next to the flap limit switches but that's just a guess.
  24. This happened to mine years ago. I had to open up the back of the seat to get to the bolts holding the armrest in place. I removed it and found that a pin of about 1/4 inch diameter had pulled out of the place it was pressed into. I was able to repair it. You can remove the armrest by removing the pop out on the side and using a socket. You will have to open up the pilot's seat back to get to everything you will need to work on. I eventually had the seats recovered and removed the arm rest and the headrests and made the seat back higher as in modern autos.
  25. We must have twins N1044V 29-0317 built 12/03 located Spruce Creek Fly In
