  1. I always hated the first new one! Took way longer than anticipated. David
  2. Here’s one that I get requests for to start this database! David N2652Wfa1.pdf
  3. I’d be happy to have it and start working it for the future. Thank you, E-mail sabremech@gmail.com
  4. Maybe it’s time for them to reach out to some vendors like myself that hold PMA and make a licensing agreement for us to work together and support the fleet? I do have some capital that I can use to hold onto products and keep them in stock unlike Mooney if that’s the case. David
  5. It’s not too terrible getting a PMA. As a matter of fact, I’ll help someone to get their PMA by sharing my quality manual to cut down the time it takes you to make one. I just had my PMA audit for the umpteenth time and I don’t know if I’ll do anymore PMA’s. I just don’t know if the paperwork required is worth it. So if anyone wants to dive into the world of PMA parts, let me know and I’ll help you get started. sabremech at gmail. Thanks, David
  6. I did not get any of the springs. Someone was working on that on my behalf but I’ve not received anything. Thanks, David
  7. This one might have a bit too much liability for me to want to make it owner produced.
  8. Hi bmcconnaha, I’m still not sure if I’m going to proceed with this project. I don’t know if I want to do anymore FAA/PMA parts at least right now while the FAA are still working from home due to Covid restrictions for them. I’m still waiting on a call back from them on an MEL and LOA’s for my full time job. It’s almost impossible to get anything done in a timely manner right now. Thanks, David
  9. Happy to send you a copy of it. My e-mail is sabremech@gmail. Thanks, David
  10. Like Don said, makes it harder for mice to climb in. They might help with noise a bit by controlling airflow in the wheel wells better and keeping air out. Just my thoughts though. David
  11. I haven’t advanced with this project as of yet. I’ll make contact with the folks who said they had some old springs for me to possibly use for the reverse engineering. Thanks, David
  12. Hi Don, I’m happy to hear the annual went well. The wheel wells were always on my list to do but life got in the way. I’m not surprised about the vent area. Nice to know it just needs to be cleaned up. Thanks. David
  13. Hi Marauder, You are definitely first to get this cowling when the kinks are worked out. I can’t thank you enough for your patience. David
  14. I haven’t installed one of these yet to fly. I was fitting it to the C that I use to own when the fit issue with the top cowling showed. I’m close to having it ready to fix the mold or a new mold made depending on what the composite shop wants to do. I’m ever so hopeful to get the time opened up after the holidays to wrap up my part and turn it back over to the shop. Keeping my fingers crossed. Thanks, David
  15. Good morning, Its been on the back burner for the last year with life getting in the way and the composite shop having major issues keeping talented mold makers. I picked up the cowling earlier this year and have made the necessary repairs to get the top and bottom cowlings to fit together. I have to get the finish right as I don’t want any mold issues going forward if I can help that from happening. It will happen and I will get them done. I’m hopeful to get a good restart after the first of the year. Thank you. David
  16. Definitely get your A&P, but I can tell you it’s not gravy. It can be fun but it can also be the most stressful thing in your life. Don’t take it lightly. Be serious and methodical in all that you do. Pay attention to minute details. There’s a reason why the A&P field is dwindling, it’s not easy work. David
  17. Just a word of advice on the mobile mechanic thoughts. Many airports have ordnance’s that require you to pay a certain percentage of your invoice if there’s a maintenance shop on the field. It’s not necessarily to dissuade someone from doing mobile maint but to even out the playing field when that shop has a large investment on the airport. Depending on the airport it can become an issue you don’t want to deal with. David
  18. Hello NM Mooney, welcome and best wishes if you proceed with this project. You’ll find plenty of information here. One thing I’m curious of is the $1300 A&P course at your local community college. Something doesn’t sound right but I’ve been proven wrong before. A normal A&P program is 2 years full time studies at a college certified in A&P studies. Can you tell us more about that program? Thanks, David
  19. Good question, but I believe you own it forever. Unlike a patent, you need to hold PMA to make any of the STC parts. Unless it’s written somewhere in the business agreement that they can be sold, they may just become unsupported like the ModWorks STC’s. David
  20. If we thought solely about that, we wouldn’t be involved in anything aviation. David
  21. Thanks much. Will add them to my possible source list if I proceed. David
  22. It doesn’t make it impossible but much harder for me to do a supplier audit every year. Local is the way to go if I find someone near me capable of manufacturing them. David
  23. I have a request to make some more seat cams. If anyone else is interested to get in on this run of parts let me know. e-mail is sabremech at gmail.com Thanks David
  24. That’s a good point although it might be difficult to do. What I would like to know is what models and years of Mooney’s were they installed on? Are there more than one specific Plessey part number of the actuator? Thanks, David
