  1. I saw this Mooney paint scheme. Definitely different. Thought I'd share.
  2. I recommend Dawley also. If you send in your tail pipe and it's not repairable then they can duplicate it.
  3. Bill wheat told me they built a M20A with a 250hp lycoming. It said it made a fantastic airplane. Too bad it didn't go into production.
  4. The Right Stuff is one of my all time favorites. I met a military dentist that did a dental clearance check up for Chuck Yeager a few years ago. He was showing me pictures of him and Chuck Yeager on his iPhone. He told me Chuck Yeager offered to take him up in a F-16 but he declined. I just couldn't imagine passing up an opportunity of not only getting a ride in a F-16 but having Chuck Yeager as the pilot would be over the top.
  5. Are airplanes the same as cars when carrying weapons. I know its not a problem in Nevada but California is a different story. California your ammo or gun have to be separated by a lock box or the trunk of your car.
  6. I sent my prop to Precision Propeller Service in Boise Idaho to be OH'd. Precision told me the blades were toast because the shop that did the last OH did not shot peen the blades correctly. According to my logs that shop was Santa Monica Propeller.
  7. Just curious. You mentioned when the engine quits the plane now belongs to the insurance company. Will your insurance pay for the engine repairs? If you would have landed wheels up would the insurance then pay for an engine or pay out hull value if the plane can't be repaired? I'm glad that everyone was safe and things turn out good. I'm just wondering how the insurance companies deal with different accident situations.
  8. Anyone want to take a 23 minute drone ride. https://www.rt.com/news/328166-chinese-passenger-drone-ces2016/
  9. I sent you a PM with Blake Brooksby's phone #. I got word back from him saying they could do your annual at VGT this week. Give him a call if you're interested.
  10. It's fast too. http://flightaware.com/live/flight/N6631U/history/20150125/1519Z/KEDN/KPXE/tracklog
  11. I'm a big Seinfeld fan and I remember the episode but I never did get the Delores part. I guess I'm obtuse with female anatomy. lol
  12. I once had starter problems at a remote air-park in Arizona. My friend who has many years of hand propping experience was able to hand prop my Mooney. It started on the 1st try. I was very thrilled to get the plane home so I could work on the starter.
  13. My other plane is a Bakeng Duce which is topless so I named it after a stripper I met in Vegas. Just kidding of course.
  14. The previous owner called my plane Delores. Ive keep the same name going.
  15. The Saab has the nose wheel partially out when the gear is retracted. I can not see the nose wheel in the B/W photo.
  16. I think Porsche is similar to airplanes. If they both sit around and not used their more likely to have a catastrophic catastrophe.
  17. I upgraded at 100K. Old double row bearing was good as new. The upgrade does give me piece of mind.
  18. I have a 996. Best value out there.
  19. Jan. 8 and 9th in St.George UT their looking for pilots for high altitude training. http://www.signupgenius.com/go/20f0b4dacaf2ea0fb6-hypoxia
  20. The m20a would have a narrow deck engine
  21. Are you sure the oil line is aluminum. Mine is steel and it had aluminum fittings. I changed my fittings with steel ones I ordered from spruce. I would double check your oil line with a magnet. Seems like I also remember a hose kit that can be retrofitted.
  22. Where did you cross at 11,500. You must of been down south by VIS. I generally cross at MMH and I like to be at 12,500 west and 13,500 east. It seems to be the narrowest part of the Sierras but there are still peaks on either side of me. I've had my A model up to 14,500 to avoid weather and it would have still gone higher.
  23. I believe all A and B models came with 2 tail pipes. The A and B model are basically the same aircraft (same panel, manual flaps, etc). Mooney replaced the wood wing with a metal wing which made it a B model. I'm on my 3rd A model. My first 2 A models had the 2 tail pipe set up. My current A model had its exhaust converted to the Hanlon Wilson single tail pipe which is on the C model. I personally like the hanlon wilson exhaust better. It's less weight, easier to inspect and more room to do maintenance.
  24. KWHP is NW of Pasadena. I find it easy to get in from Vegas. I think its marine layer tends to break earlier vs. the LA basin. I agree with others regarding Chino. Its the best.
