  1. Aircraft Spruce has an applicability chart for Sky-Tec starters here... Looks as though all M20 B through J models from 1958 on use the 149 tooth flywheel. http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/stpages/mooneyM20standardreplacementparts.php
  2. While recently chasing an electrical issue I had my Battery, Starter, Relay and ground strap replaced only to find the problem still exsists. (Ignition switch was ultimately to blame) So I'm left with a spare starter (Sky-Tec 149-12 LS). $200 PM me if interested. See my recent entry to a thread titled "Ignition 67F" SOLD 07-06-2014

  5. Thanks for the tip. I've been chasing an intermittant starting issue for a little while now. During annual last week I replaced the battery, starter, engine ground strap, and starter relay only to find the problem still exists! After reading N201MKTurbos post, I disassembled my starter switch, cleaned the contacts, added a dab of dielectric grease before reassembly. Switch has never worked better!!!Problem solved!!! P.S. lightly used sky-tec 149-12LS starter for sale $200 http://mooneyspace.com/gallery/album/13954-bendix-ignition/

  10. Todays learners are tomorrow's leaders! Kudos to you and your buds for teaching our children well.
  11. What a pain! !!! I love my edm 830, but I'm not a big fan of the jpi manuals. Re programming any parameters is not easily done. Two buttons (tap & step?) either pressed or held in random sequences control 5678 different functions. Adding fuel when not topping off tanks can be somewhat problematic if you don't practice it routinely. If you don't have your manual handy and haven't attempted this task lately...forget it. Oh, I forgot to mention, what ever you do, do NOT confuse one of those two little buttons for the other or you have already changed several other function parameters which you'll discover later in flight.

  13. Awesome! I hope they sent you a couple copies!
  14. Before my 201 windshield was installed, I too dealt with the problem of leaking panels stuck down with extremely messy black tar like sealer. I cleaned all the old goop completely off of the panels and reapplied a wide bead of silicone followed by a strip of Saran wrap. I then reinstalled the panels and allowed the silicone to cure before removing panels to trim the Saran wrap. The silicone made a form fitted seal on the panels that could be removed and reused without the mess. I never saw moisture on avionics again!
  15. Is that Tower Drive Bridge (Leo Frigo)?
  16. Pardon me for "HIJACKING" this thread, but please post pics of the 201 style baffle. I hate my doghouse and the 201 screws that hold it together!
  17. Mark the location of the throttle cable at desired mp in flight, then adjust accordingly.
  18. I've got one for you. PM me if you'll settle for one with a silver knob.
  19. Talk to Jeff at High Desert Avionics Lancaster, CA (WJF) He's an S-Tec dealer / installer.
  20. I've got a Garmin GNC 300XL approach certified GPS with a Mid Continent MD41-44 annunciator and a Bendix King KI-202 head. The annunciator is required to make the GPS approved for IFR use per Garmins requirements. The annunciator allows you to arm the approach which the 300XL will not do on its own. It allows you to hold if you are being vectored and want to skip a portion of the approach. It'll also annunciate when you are armed, active or on hold, waypoint arrival as well as any messages you my have on the GPS. Mine was installed maybe 12 plus years ago and has been a bullet proof poor mans GPS. Back in 2001 I saved maybe $4K by going with the 300XL instead of the 430. Would I do it the same now?...Probably not. As Mooneymite said...spend a little more now, you'll be glad you did. Your resale value will also be glad you did. P.S. I'm a GB native...Go Pack!
  21. I have a small carbon monoxide detector which uses a 9v battery. It clips to the interior trim just fwd of the door and just below the panel. I positioned it there to monitor the area first serviced by the heat ducting. It's loud enough to hear in flight as hear it chirp during flight when its battery is going dead. I also keep a pulse oximeter on board and use it regularly during my higher altitude mountain flights.
  22. Steve, Check EBay. I see them on there all the time.
  23. I rarely see oil temps over 200 degrees even during multi hour flights in the Summer. Should I assume there is condensation created moisture in my engine at all times until I change the oil? Should I restrict airflow through my cooler and aim for hotter oil temps to burn off moisture during every flight?
  24. What's the total time in service and has the crank been ground. (size)
