  1. Congrats on the IFR ride.
  2. Why cant ii see the latest posts. ?
  3. Cant believe what i am watching. No shoulder belts, passenger in rear seat, horrible flying i will never fly with this guy if i knew who he was.
  4. Your numbers are very close to mine. I would say you have done your homework very well. i average 150 hours a year with the exception of 2009 which was a really bad year as i only put about 80 hours on mine.
  5. I pay $2500 (Canadian) bucks a year with full hull insurance. I have 5 Million liability, full hull coverage at 80K, hangared and i have aver 6,000 hours. Looks like we pay more here in Canada that you guys in the U.S do.
  6. I cant speak for all Mooneys but i have the retractable step and i know if i forget to bring it up i get a 5 knot penalty so i am in favour of the retactable step.

  8. Meyy Xmas to all from the Anderson house hold also. It is minus 25 here today but nice and sunny. Too cold to go flying. Russ
  9. Some states do indeed pay a tax every year. I believe Delaware or somewhere on the East coast started doing it a few years ago.
  10. cruiser is right. Thats why you should always be on the fullest tank with the pump on when landing. I have used slips before on final with no problems.
  11. i am with cruiser. I would just rent a plane for the check ride. The cost of putting on R/H side brakes just for a check ride is astronomical.
  12. So far i am the only Canadian on the map. Come on Canadian Mooney owners....i know you are out there...
  13. It is a little ceramic heater and is sold as a in-car heater at most car parts places/ or you can but online and it is marketed as the "flybuddy" i bought mine in toronto years ago at leavens brothers. Then i saw it at Canadian tire beig sold for cars. russ
  14. I have a flybuddy. $70 bucks and works great. I am also in a hanger where the heat is kept at about 40F. The flybuddy fits right in the cowl flap i get to the airport, plug in the flybuddy and have a coffee. By the time i have finished my coffee, we are ready to go. I have also used it plugged in all night when i was at a tie-down for the night in - 20 weather and it worked just fine.
  15. I have to agree. I have flown gliders , Hang gliders and ultralights, and a gliders make you much better at knowing where you will land if you have to and to nail the approach on the first attempt every time. russ

  17. Ned: Thanks about the tagline Aint it the truth.
  18. Ned: In a hanger. But we keep the heat turned down to 45F to save on heating bills. So i still do a little pre-heat russ
  19. That was his thought too, The first one was his first flight in a plane. I have not seen Kirk ( his name) for years now. But the second flight was the last time i had him on board.
  20. I have had 2! 1) Engine faiure at 900 feet on departure. Landed in hay field straight ahead. No damage to me or plane. ( Engine swallowed a valve) 2) Cabin fire when master fuse blew and burned the harness. Landed at the airport safely on that one. Funny part is i had the same passenger on board for both flights. Incidents were 10 years apart! russ
  21. I have a little heater called a flybuddy. it fits right in the pilot side cowl flap
