  4. Hi Phil. i will call you later today. i sent an email. Looks like you are in BC and i am right next door in alberta. Looks like i just found a reason to go for a spin to BC, i may just go for a little weekend trip and drop it off for ya or you can have an excuse to come to edmonton for the weekend. ( boy it dont take much for us to find a reason to go flying huh???LOL)
  5. ed; we will make a fuel stop there for sure. you are officially on my list of stops now. will advise dates as we get closer to the trip date.
  6. Ed...no termites here...to friggin cold. I remeber now..i saw you on the mooniacs website that the mooney factory has. we have spoken before. regards
  7. i live just outside of Edmonton alberta so i dont know how much shipping is, but i would not think it is too expensive. I just dont need it anymore as my hanger is nice and flat and level to the ramp. first come- first served if anybody wants it.
  8. I have an electric one i dont need. i have a M20A so unless the gear is a lot different on yours it should fit. If you are willing to pay shipping you can have it for $200 bucks. It is in good shape and runs well. it weighs about 15 pounds
  9. Ed: Thanks much i think you were one of the people we did not get to see in 2008. You are also on yahoo on the woodwings group , right? russ

  12. Hi All: THis July my wife and I will be going cross country in our 1959M20A. We did this trip in 2008 and had a blast so we are doing it again. We met a number of Mooney drivers all over Canada. If anybody is interested in having a coffee and shooting the breeze drop me a line. We would love to meet as many other Mooniacs as we can on our travels. We will be leaving Edmonton and going East to the maritimes then working our way back all the way to Vancouver then East again back to Edmonton. We will be travelling through all provinces and parts of the NWT. Total trip time 3 weeks. Hope to hear from some of you. Russ
  13. i had a look at my tires after all these posts and have ordered 3 new trires. Mine all passed the annual back in june but i have pretty good wear on all 3 so why take the chance. Total cost for all 3 $500 bucks. I have no costs on labour to install them as i have just orderd them. i wll update the labour when it is done next week. russ
  14. Hi Colin: Like most of the guys here i have had the opportunity to fly most of what the taxpayer pays for and civilan A/C, and from all the advice you have recieved here i would find it difficult to correct or add anything to what has been said. The only thing i could add is buy what you feel comfortable with. If you dont feel the plane is too high performance for you etc then you are likely on the right track. There are plenty of stories out there about the pilot that could afford anything they want and ended up hurting themselves or others. As long as you receive all the right training then you should have no problems, and it sounds like you are doing just that. Also remember that if you get into retractables when low time you dont develop as many fixed gear habits. I wish i bought my Mooney years ago! Russ
  15. Glad it all turned out OK for you. That must be embarrasing, shutting down an international AP..LOL Thats one of those things i have not experienced yet ( the tire blowing out that is) and hope i dont. I will keep the name of the FBO in mind when i am down that way russ
  16. my best in the M20A is 200KTS from Calgary to Edmonton. We had a huge tailwind as a shinook was blowing in from the south.
  17. Congrats to you and the wife. She is cute as all-get-out. Lets hope she loves to fly as much as my kids did.
  18. Welcome back. I cant imagine how happy you must be. I could not live if i was not allowed to fly.
  19. I had mine done just after i bought the plane at a cost of $850 bucks. 6 months later it crapped out again and i replaced it with the sigmatec. I would not bother to have it fixed. Just go ahead and spend the extra bucks. My transponder also went south just after i bought the plane. Had it fixed and it crapped out about 9 months later so i replaced that with the Garmin digital one. I learned my lesson. If it is 30 years old. Replace it dont bother having it fixed.
  20. cruiser: Thats funny. my female shep. hates the prop too and the windshield wipers on the car. She barks like hell at the prop when it is starting up. then settles right down.
  21. Escott: Sure send them along. As for the shedding issue i just toss a big blanket in the back seat. I have more of an issue with dog-slobber all over the windows as they tend to sit there taking in all the scenery with their truck sized noses pressed up against the window. They do indeed think of the car and the plane the same way. They love both and get right into the back and into their assigned seats. JLUNSETH: I had the same concern but my vet assures me it is not an issue. I tried the dog ear muffs but they want no part of them. They had them off in seconds and refused to wear them.
  22. I have 2 VERY large German Shepards that have been travelling with me since they were pups. Never had a problem and the vet assures me there is no problem with the noise on their ears etc. I prefer to travel with them as opposed to the grandkids some days. I tell the dogs to sit down and be quiet and they actually do it. Try that with 3 wound up kids!
  23. I only have that problem if the plane is cold. Before i got my hanger if it was below 35 degrees F i always had to pre heat or there was no way that plane would start.
  24. Hi Seth: I have a 1959 Model M20 and i had the rotating beacon on mine with the same issues. I replaced it last annual with a a high intensity LED unit for $1800 bucks Canadian. I dont remember the model but i got it at the Mooney dealer in Calgary AB.
  25. i am out of Canada but will be in Houston from Jan 22 to jan 29th i am hoping to get time to make a stop at the factory when i am there.
