  1. St paul is CEW3 for anybody that is coming on May 30th not the 29th. Jolie: Did i give you the wrong date? it is on Sunday.
  2. there is also one in controller.com
  3. Mitch..ROTFLMAO...lucky for you it is mostly late june and early sept. Now get on up here.
  4. Way to go jason. She is a beutiful airplane. Hope you have a long and wonderful time flying her.
  5. Larry: So sorry to hear what happened. That is also my biggest fear living in Alberta. Hail is as common as rain around here during certain times of the year. I know a couple of guys that have suffered hail damage and in both cases the plane was written off by the insurance company. Both chaps had no problem with the insurance as they are used to that around here. Good luck
  6. Hi Mitch: Weather at this time of year can be a little spotty around the mountains. Other than that it has been very dry here the last 2 years with little rain. One of the sayings here in Alberta is if you dont like the weather,,,,,wait a minute! We have had good flying days here for the last 2 weeks in a row with the exception of the southern part of the province. Once you you hit lethbridge it is an easy flight to Edmonton ( Cooking lake) then on to St. Paul. Looking forward to getting you and Jolie here for a visit. My offer stands,,,,you are welcome to use the RV/Guesthouse at my place as i am off that entire week and would love to show you the sights of Edmonton and the mountains.
  7. When i lived in Southern ontario i flew at night all the time, but now that i live in rural Alberta i dont as much anymore. In Ontario you never get away from a safe place to land as everything is lit up at night and there are highways everywhere. Out here the minute i head north it is like flying in an inkwell. It is pitch black and there is nothing but bush and forests for hundreds of miles with nowhere to land.
  8. Better than i can do. I have done the coast to coast trip twice and i am doing it again this summer, but not in one leg. I cant stay in the air that long. I am old and need regular "little boy room" breaks!
  9. I have to agree with the group here. If you cant get a hanger, then a covered parking space with covers is the minimum i would be doing. Hangers here start at $800 a month and go to over a grand. The last small hanger that sold here at Cooking lake went for over a million bucks!!!!!! I parked mine outdoors for almost a year when i first mover here and the covers were my saving grace. I bought mine from Arctic covers. Having said that my baby is always parked in doors now and if my M20A covers will fit yours you can have them for 500 bucks ( they were over a grand new) . That gives you wings, tail and cowl coverage. I bought the fuselage cover seperately and want to keep that for the days i am travelling.
  10. Support your local banker.....buy an airplane!
  11. Hi Jolie: Thanks. any excuse to fly....LOL
  12. Well i have had a great week. I had the Pleasure of meeting up with Ned and Eldon. Had the chance to go flying with both and Ned, my wife and I got to go out for a great steak dinner too. I also got to go out for 3 hours with my wife and our best pal Debbie for a flight. I have put 10 hours on the clock since Thursday. Life just dont get any better. Hope I get to meet more of you at the fly-ins this summer.
  13. Man, you guys get cheap insurance. I have over 6K hours and fly a A model (300 hrs on type) with only 70K hull, in motion, not in motion etc same liability etc and pay $2400 a year in Canada.
  14. Hey Aggie: Way to go. Now you are free to go comitt acts of aviation when ever and where ever. Congrats
  15. Ok Guys,. I have the first Canadian Ambassadors function. May 30th Saint Paul AB. This is their annual fly in breakfast sponsored by Writewing aviation. This is the guy that does all my service etc, and he has invited me to "do our thing" Joile, can you send me some more business cards etc. I have handed out most of mine. And any advice, pamphlets for Mooneys you can part with etc, that would help. Actually any advice anybody has would help! Tks Russ
  16. Hi DSimes: Yes it is on the itinerary as a possible fuel stop if the wife needs a brak by then. It will be about 10AM local time on JUne 26 or 27th. Depending on the weather as we may leave either day.
  17. It gets better. about an hour later one of my employees call me to let me know he is in Edmonton as he needs to meet with one of the Goverment people tomorrow. (He looks after all that stuff when i am not available, which i am not this week). I ask him where he is staying and lo and behold ( another room full of giggling) he is upstairs, in the same hotel as Ned and I!..This world is indeed getting small.
  18. I work in an in-situ process. We do not have tailing ponds, recycle 100% of our water and are a certified zero emissions facility.
  19. Hey Desimes: just noticed another Albertan is here. Welcome to the group. If you are ever over at Cooking lake give me a holler. russ
  20. Hi Scott: My name is Russ and I live in edmonton Alberta and have flown the area pretty extensivly. Flying into Banff and LAke Louise is not possible as the airports are now owned by the National Park system and are PPR only. You will never recieve prior permission unless you are park staff or a fire fighter. I am going on a Canadian wide cross country leaving Edmonton June 26th and returning 2nd week of July. If you are in Edmonton after that you are welcome to stop at my place. I am at Cooking lake, a little airport just outside Edmonton Airspace. I am a member of the Mooney Ambassadors and would be happy to show you the best VFR routes and where to avoid. I would strongly recommend some mountain instruction if you do not have mountain experience prior to heading through the mountains even to fly over Banff etc. If you can come earlier you are welcome to fly as a group with me as part of my trip is through the Churchill area. Send me a PM and i will send you home phone, email etc regards Russ
  21. I paid $13,000 canadian for a hartzell 2 blade scimitar just a few months ago. Thats including installation etc,. The actual unit was about 12K including shipping, exchange etc.
  22. Hey!!!! I work for an Oil Comany! How did we get dragged into this?
  23. Going into Calgary one day i was asked by the tower to slow down to allow for a Lear that was ahead of me. I never heard that request once in all the years i owned any of my 172's
  24. I love the bike trips too, but my wife is not able to do long trips on the bike anymore. Just the plane and the spitfire ( car)
  25. Hi Mitch: I will. I have 4 Mooney guys to see and we are trying to line up the trip with the Hamilton and Windsor airshows so i can do the ambassador thing too. I will keep you informed.
