  3. I have a 1959 M20A with the standard bagge compartment and i would like to install the hat rack or shelf that i have seen in some other planes. DOes anybody know where i can get one? thanks Russ
  4. ditto here, anybody in Western Canada such as Alberta, Manitoba or Sask. ( no roughrider fans allowed ...LOL) email me and lets see if we can get a Canadian contingency together russ
  5. i am off most of June. so count me in.
  6. From what i hear i am the only canadian member of the Vintage Mooney group and i have yet to make it to a fly in because of the distances involved. I am hoping to make it to a few next year as i will have almost 8 weeks off over the summer. i would also love to get a group going out here in Western canada russ
  7. beleive it or not it is $60 bucks Canadian! owners name is tyler elliot 780-628-7297 these guys are woodwing experts. great fabric and paint shop, annual inspections, interiors, panel upgrades, anything you need. They also do late model mooneys too. russ
  8. Wow...guess i got a good deal. I have all my service done by Rightwing aviation here in ALberta. These guys are good and very well priced. I have never paid more than $1500 for an annual unless something needed replaced etc. russ
  9. My total installation costs for the new hub, prop etc was around 500 bucks russ
  10. I spent $9000 Canadian on the new Top prop 2 blade conversion. That included hub, prop, spinner and installation. No More AD for me. russ
  11. I just paid $9,000 canadian for the new "top-prop" conversion. I got a new hub, prop and spinner. russ
  12. My first annual on the Mooney took one week. My second one involved engine, prop, spinner and Governor replacement and i still had my pane back in 3 weeks. The longest annual i have ever experienced was one month and that was years ago. russ
  13. One should also note that a big portion of the cost of a new aircraft is the liablility insurance that the manufacturer has to bear. That cost is built into the price of a new aircraft. I would have to assume that there is also a liability factor build into the price of anything "certified" that we purchase for our planes. That may explain part of the cost along with the very high cost of dealing with the FAA, Transport Canada etc. to get the plane/ avionics certified in the first place. (not that i am defending it). I just spend over 2 grand on a Transponder and i think thats robbery when i can get a passive Collosion avoidance unit ( uncertified of course) for 500 bucks.! russ
  14. SagemGuy: Same here. If you move into the owner-maintenance catagory your value drops like a rock and it is almost impossible to get it back into the certified catagory if you ever wanted to. Thats why i would never do it. But i do know 2 model M20A's that are here in Canada that are in that category because the owners bought them out of the US and found way more restoration was required than originally thought and it was just less expensive to go that route. Russ
  15. Chris: i would clean that up and perhaps even coat the internal portion of the wing with some sort of inhibitor since you already have them apart russ
  16. I dont know about the US but if you live in Canada you can change your plane to the owner/ maintenance category and get all the nice cheap stuff. I would not do it personally but i do know a few Mooneys out there that have been moved over to that category. russ
  17. Excuse me while i cry a little...LOL Thanks much. Guess the plane is like my sports cars. I have a LOT more into them than they are worth. But as i do not plan on ever selling my beloved Mooney or my cars i guess i am OK with it. russ
  18. Just out of curiosity does anybody know what Vref says mine is worth these days. 1959 M20A 2400 TT 200hrs on engine 25 hours on prop, hub, spinner etc. new radios, gps, DG, Art. horizon, Digital transponder, new interior, wings totaly rebuilt, new fabric and paint, just a ball park if any body knows. russ
  19. its sad isnt it. i have put over 40K into mine in the last year and i would be hard pressed to get it back if i ever sold the plane. i have about 100K into mine and it may sell for 60K if i was lucky russ
  20. Hi: I have built a hanger before and let me say if you can get a door installed for 4K go for it. The motor and panel on mine was over 4K just for that. The motor is 3 grand alone and the panel etc was another grand. The door was another 3 grand. 125 a month for a hanger is a great price. Here in Edmonton and Calgary area hangers rent for 400-1000 a month! russ
  21. I dont know if this helps all you guys with the turbo's etc. But my old M20A was 40 grand for engine, prop, spinner, hub. Etc. From the firewall forward is all new within the last year now. russ
  22. i have a set of wing, cabin and tail covers that i got from arctic covers. $1500 for the entire set and i am very happy with them. they protect against hail too. russ
