  1. Possibly I used the wrong word.............exhaust flange. On my former Lycoming O-360 and IO-360, the exhaust headers from the cylinders were attached to the muffler tubes with 3 hole flanges [header and muffler], 3 bolts [such as the one shown in the photo], 3 tension springs, spacer washers and nuts w/cotter pins. As I look at the bolt photo further, yes, I agree the bolt does look too large to be one of the bolts for the exhaust joints.
  2. Possibly an exhaust flange bolt.
  3. Speaking of cool Mooney stuff..................I remember some very wonderful Mooney dinners at the Cowboy Steakhouse during Homecoming!
  4. ..............and I found this stuff on Ebay several years ago. Certainly not as special as the cool things from @Mcstealth papa ! , but fun regardless.
  5. Great information! You Dad was part of one of the best Mooney manufacturing eras ! Thank you for sharing this.
  6. Great to see your factory photos….. so sad at the same time. So many memories and so much history!!
  7. The whole thing is a complete Mystery to me.....................I do like the way it smells...............................
  8. Incredibly exciting for you ! Enjoy every aspect.
  9. Foam............hmmmm. Thought that went out years ago.
  10. With all the pain and suffering and great joy along the 50 year adventure of airplane flying and maintenance....................my most cherished accomplishment was my Ovation engine RR [with certified FAA supervision of course] .
  11. Gee................I sure miss scraped and bleeding fingers and knuckles, bloody arm gashes, smacking my bald head on gear door edges, blood blisters, turning and twisting in special under cowl, under instrument panel configurations, just to name a few.............
  12. Thank you Craig for Mooneyspace and your continued efforts.
  13. My heart aches over this loss of such a young beautiful family. Such incredible sadness for the families left behind.
  14. Haven't gone to AirVenture since 2014. I have enjoyed each day by watching some of the activity on YouTube. I did get to fly FISK arrival once. Tons of great memories for sure!!
  15. Speaking of departures out of SBA , unless there was a lot of commercial going on with 25, I would ask for a 25 departure as I never enjoyed flying way out of the ocean with a 15 departure. Many times when I did use 15, I was a couple of miles out over the water before I was given instruction to proceed on course. Not my favorite by any means.
  16. One more thought for you.......................I've been in situations where I felt I was being ignored by ATC................when I felt that I would simply check in with my call sign and that would prompt the controller to respond, realizing they had indeed forgotten about me.
  17. Further thoughts.................my procedures on that arrival coming in over GVO, I would listen to ATIS first [whether on flight follow or not]. I would also monitor tower to listen to what's really going on regarding runways in use. If I heard over tower frequency that small GA was landing/departing 15 and approach gave me 25, I would have questioned that with approach. I'm not suggesting this was your situation regarding what happened to you.
  18. Tower/approach control issue, nothing you did wrong. Yes, file the NASA. What you did was absolutely correct. You followed directions from approach. I've done that arrival many, many times, exactly as you described and never an issue.
  19. It Mite be................
  20. Wonderful memories of Jerry and his efforts on behalf of Mooney owners.
  21. Such a fun story of fun!!! Congratulations! Enjoy your beauty!
  22. Richard, there are no Mooney's based at Oceano [L52]. Yes, Mooney's based at Santa Maria, Paso Robles and San Luis Obispo.
