  1. We have a date confirmed with Trutrak, 1/18/1019! Please let me know who will be there so we can make plans. They are located at Springdale Municipal Airport (KASG), the street address is: 1488 S Old Missouri Rd.Springdale, AR 72764 https://trutrakflightsystems.com/pages/contact-us I am looking forward to meeting all you guys!!! Sanjeev
  2. Saturdays will not work for Trutrak so we are trying to coordinate a Friday in January most likely the 4th, 11th or 18th. Trutrak said they will put on a nice BBQ for us, I will keep you posted when I hear back from them. Have a great week! Sanjeev
  3. I can tell you what not to do....... spend your free time that you would be flying buying a bunch of stuff for the plane, haha I have a problem. Seriously though in the past I have gotten my seaplane rating, flown aerobatics or done some simulator work when the plane has been down.... Or if you don’t want to have FUN you could clean out the hangar while it’s empty! My vote is to go do some aerobatics in a super D!
  4. Or best offer its just sitting in my hangar and I can't use it.
  5. Well looks like we have at least 8 people including myself so I think that is enough to get this thing going! How does Jan 19th or 26th work? Both are Saturdays as it seems the weekend will work better for most. I have confirm that Corey at TT can come in on a Sat.
  6. WOW great choice on the scheme and colors, makes me miss my J I just sold. I picked a very similar scheme but different colors. Enjoy and no matter what anyone tells you it IS faster with smooth new paint .
  7. I spoke with Corey at TruTrak today and he said they would love to host a bunch of Mooneys at their factory. They can have lunch and the test bed Mooney there for us to take a look at. So far I have four of you guys any more? I will give it a few more days then work on some dates.
  8. Yes sir I have you covered and look forward to the day I call to say its approved
  9. As always on this site there are tons of good answers. Take a look to see what probes you have, check baffling, fuel flow or any other issues that are air / fuel / cooling related. If you do have a spark plug gasket probe swap it out for the piggyback probe here: https://www.jpinstruments.com/shop/m113-38-cht-gasket-probe/ Let me know if it can be of any more help. Sanjeev
  10. Hello everyone - As some of you already know I am a TruTrak dealer / installer in Las Vegas and focusing on the Mooney kit. I am gauging interest in setting up a Fly-in factory tour of the TruTrak facility and Mooney test aircraft at Springdale Municipal Airport (KASG) in Springdale Arkansas. It would be neat to see their facility and get hands on with the kit installed in the Mooney. Plus having all these Mooney's show up on their ramp may motivate them even more to push the approval through . As of now M20 approval is slotted for spring 2019 and has been pushed back a few times due to FAA delays, you can follow the status here: Please reply to this thread with your interest, as we have some people chime in I will work on a date (Jan or Feb) and logistics.
  11. I spoke with Trutrak today and unfortunately they pushed back the date again to spring 2019, I was told there are no specific issues it is just the process with the FAA. I am going to set up a fly in to tour their facility in at Springdale Municipal Airport (KASG) and look at the Mooney test bed install. How many of you would be interested? When I have a approximate number I can start working on a date. I will start another thread for the fly in. Regarding replacing the T/C I would definitely put in a RC Allen or other glass AI. I had the RC Allen in my last Mooney and liked it but installed it when there were not many other options. If I was going to do it again I would highly consider the AeroVonics.
  12. Cleaning out the hangar and I have a factory overhauled Skytec 149-12LS starter in the original plastic and box with an 8130-3 form (attached below). Asking $300 shipped in the CONUS. I was keeping this as a spare but never needed it. PM or email me snjprs@me.com Thanks, Sanjeev Sky-tec.pdf
  13. Looking forward to your PIREP Cliffy!!! I have been watching this company, looks like some great products!
  14. My 78 was SN 24-515 had no factory step and 3 position cowl flaps
  15. This is how I had the cowl flats on my J set up. Would have them in trail about an inch in the summer and fully closed in the winter and that set up worked very well. If you reach up in the cowl flap and unhook the spring loaded ball joint you can loosen the lock nut and spin the fitting up and down on the threads to adjust.
  16. Thank you Anthony. There is no money required to be on the list. When the Vision is FAA approved I will call you for payment to place the order. I will put you on the install list and PM you with the additional info needed. The Trutrak will track a course from the 300xl and yes it’s going to be a huge upgrade. I’ve flown it in a few Piper installs we have done and it does everything it says it will and flys a GPS LPV approach more precisely than the 55x I have in my 310 for 1/4th the cost. We are very excited for this to bee approves for Mooney’s!
  17. Very similar story to me. I knew we needed/wanted a twin in 2016 but started looking seriously Jan 17 and finally found the right plane this month. There are a lot of dog twins that have been sitting. I preferred a Bearcat but just wanted a clean airframe that hasn’t sat a lot. If that meant a T310r I was ok with that. Seems like you already know but the T310 opx is very close to the 340 as they run the same engines / turbos and that is where most of the cost comes from. There is a real nice T310R in Wyoming, the seller and I couldn’t come to an agreement on price out he is an honest guy with a nice plane. PM me if you want his info. Good luck on your search, you will eventually find the right aircraft.
  18. I agree with you 100%! I fly at least 200lbs but most of the time 300-350 under gross and wanted the IO-550's for the climb and OEI performance, cruise is about the same as a stock 310R, 180-195kts depending on how much fuel you poor into it. True, if flown properly a light twin is not "much" more to operate than a HP single. Those Colemill B55's are AMAZING!!! I was looking at a few but chose the 310R for the space, especially the baggage and the B58's were out of my price range. Let me know if you are ever in Vegas I'd love to check out your 55.
  19. Cool!!! That turned out NICE
  20. I moved from a pristine 78 J that I loved very much to a 76 Cessna 310R Colemill conversion. The main driver for this was my wife and daughter flying with me. Since we had our daughter my wife went form flying all over the country with me to not wanting to sit in the back of the with no space due to the car seat and all the baby stuff we bring along these days. The secondary driver was a shift in my risk profile from single engine to a twin where you trade the unlikely event of an engine failure causing your major issues the whole flight to being a significant issue during the first 10-30 seconds, a moderate issue through the first 60 seconds and an expensive inconvenience once you are 1000agl. This assumes you are on your A game and take initial and recurrent training seriously, light twins do NOT tolerate sloppy piloting. For this reason I specifically picked a 310 with the upgraded 300hp IO-550's and also fly well under gross most of the time my margins are acceptable. Moving from any Mooney to a twin is a significant investment in both training and finances but if you think it through, do it for the right reasons and find a good aircraft you will be very happy as I am. It is a shock going from one of the most efficient airframes to a twin with two big bore Conti's but it is fun and most importantly the wife is back flying with me and excited about trips. The 340 is an AWESOME aircraft and I was really trying to stretch my budget to make it happen but with turbos & pressurization it was just too much of a financial step for me. If you haven't go sit in a 58P and a 340. For similar operation costs the cabin in the 340 is soooo much nicer and if you are looking at 340's you should look at early 414's as they have the non geared engine with the same operation costs as a 340 but a bigger cabin, you do give up a few knots. Also if you move forward on a Twin Cessna its worth joining http://www.twincessna.org. Please reach out if you want any info on my 1 year journey going from a J to a 310R. Oh per your statement of justifying a twin, there is no way to justify a twin financially for a private owner and I would argue any aircraft for that matter . If you have the financial and piloting means just do it. Sanjeev
  21. M My “old” 201! It’s staying at VGT with the new owner and we are still planning on the first demo install in it.
  22. Glad you had a good visit and thank you for the update. The guys at Trutrak are a great group that are always willing to help and have visitors!
  23. Thats either really good for the Mooney or really bad for the BWM
  24. I spoke to TruTrak last week and was told they are about to start final flight testing and they are expecting approval close to the end of the year. I know, still vague but unfortunately the norm with the FAA. I will update as soon as I get new info. Thanks, Sanjeev
