  1. Haha, yes they do provide Abita Springs root beer and regular beer to stop overs. I was down there a couple weeks ago and walked away with a 6'er of each, on the house. Pretty cool. The owner of Hammond Air is a Mooney J owner as well.
  2. I'll be in the vicinity climbing Quandary Peak, just outside of Breck, if the weather allows. I'm packing my board up and riding down, Whoopee!!

  9. TWinter: Boxers are great! I lost my boxer, Cosmo, in May to kidney failure. He lived to the ripe old age of 15 years and 2 months. Truly my best friend as I had him from a pup until his last day on earth. He loved going to the airport with me and watch me putter around on the plane. The is a picture or two of him in the background of a few shots in my gallery. I loved that dog...
  10. How could this be addressed? Open up the access panel and warm it up/ air it out on those humid days?
  11. Interesting, the hangar was VERY humid w lots of condensation on the plane and slab. Something to think about ...
  12. Well, well, well.... It worked fine from the get go on the trip back. I'll dig into it at annual and see what we come up with. I don't think the cold is an issue as it was 70 degrees when I left Louisiana last weekend and I've had it going on 6 winters. Who knows though, if it decides it doesnt like cold weather I guess I'll have to deal with it
  13. The last couple of flights, while in GPS mode, the plane tracks about 10 degrees to the right. Last flight it "warmed up" and started working after about 1.5 hours. Today was a short flight of an hour or so and never worked correctly. The heading bug and altitude hold works fine. I've had the AP for over 6 years and have never had any issues with it. I have not had any recent maintenance done on the plane that would have affected anything. It worked on a 3 hour trip, last weekend, just fine and was kooky the next day. Any ideas of where to start the troubleshooting? Thx!
  14. In the 6 years I've owned the Mooney the most I've flown was 220 and the least was 135. I'll be squeezing another 12-15 out of her before the end of the year with a trip to Colorado along with some regional flights.
  15. Sounds like the pump needs overhauled. I had the same issue a couple years ago.
  16. If you go the brace route I'd be careful about having any metal rubbing the cowling. Vibration would eventually cause a wear issue.

  18. I had the same issue when I replaced my baffle seals and glued a couple "dog ears" in the middle of the baffle on each side of the cowling center line. Each ear is a couple inches wide and sticks up an inch or so. It's held up for the 4 or so years since I've made the modification. If going this route use a glue that's rated for high heat.
  19. Lop at 22 degrees/7000' today my coldest cht was 270.
