  1. Did the old pump fail in flight and leave a pile of carbon residue, and how well were the lines cleaned out before the filters were replaced? How long since the AI has been overhauled?
  2. Will you guys have some free time while in Boca Raton?
  3. Doesn't the remaining single Bendix mag still require 500 hr (or less) IRAN's?

  5. Quote: Bnicolette Cool, I got to be fantom for a minute.
  6. Quote: KSMooniac 165 knots TAS, at what kind of power setting??? Regardless, nice to hear that they got her straightened out and flying right.
  7. Quote: flyboy0681 And what a great success it is. Not to feed Gary's ego, but his livery is one of the best I've ever seen on a Mooney. It's really to be admired.
  8. Michelin Airtights, put some baby powder in the tire, inflate the tube, rotate it a bit to make sure there are no folds, deflate some, and install on rim. Don't taxi over tie down rings, large holes or other "stuff". Check tire pad condition when pushing or pulling plane. Check pressure every month, and you should get many years of wear.
  9. Be very light o the player grip.cutting about an inch up is a good suggestion. Ignore the jack off of all trades
  10. Well done, especially in that WX. Now the real learning starts, sans testing.
  11. Quote: Parker_Woodruff Guess you'll have some SEC travel this direction.
  12. "OK, that's enough and I've irritated you fellows enough for today. Jgreen" Bugging people with your opinions isn't an issue for me, but your enjoyment of doing it is probably an issue for lots of folks. I've been actively involved in the Florida Mooney community for 20 years, and after serveral personal experiences, and 100's of discussions with other people, you are only the second person I've ever heard say anything good about that self professed FL Mooney guru. Strong personalities are one thing....basic ethics are another. But he does give lots of business to your profession. Oh, and the other guy who had something nice to say, finally got screwed to the tune of about $4,000 he couldn't afford. YMMV.
  13. Quote: KSMooniac There is a great option for Mooney paint schemes... Fantom and I have both used him with great success. He used to own a Mooney, and has some great ideas/schemes "in stock" but will iterate with you until *you* are happy and then provide detailed plans to the paint shop. Very highly recommended! PM me if you want his info.
  14. If your goal is to hold an IA accountable for a prebuy, expect to pay thousands, not hundreds. You could only hold someone accountable the moment the plane came out of the PPI, because who knows what is done to the plane after the PPI. In my opinion it would be totally impractical, but the lawyers would love it.
  15. Quote: GeorgePerry In my line of work, when a senior leader gets a DWI, they call it getting "fired" not a resignation. I suppose the non-military public sector is more touchy-feely.
  16. Just another "atta boy" for a very nice scheme! Still trying to think about a 4,500 NM trip for a paint job. Have you talked to Oxford in Maine? Probably the best shop in the country, but not cheap.http://www.oxfordaviation.com/
  17. We had a great turnout last month at Punta Gorda, 12 Mooneys plus a couple of cars brought 25 people to lunch. This Saturday, December, 10, we are meeting at Flagler (XFL). Future Events are all on the second Saturday of the month: December 10, Flagler (XFL) January 14, Sebring (SEF) February 11, Venice (VNC) All events start at 11:30. David requests that you E-mail him (daveanruth@aol.com) by Thursday to let him know if you plan on attending. He then gives the restaurant an estimated head count. No one is obligated to come even if they said they would. Come on out and meet other Mooniacs. Dave, Ruth and Gary
  18. My GAMI spread is about .3 GPH, after moving my stock injectors around. Now I don't move then at all after annual cleaning, which is probably unnecessary since 100LL is a very good detergent. GAMI's on a Lyc 4 is usually throwing $ away in my experience.
  19. $25, I believe.... Lantana (KLNA) is fairly close. http://www.lantanaairport.com/
  20. Quote: jetdriven Was he operating in CYA mode or FYA mode? We swapped out a VFR Northstar GPS for a VFR KLN-89B. NO 337.
  21. +1 on Aviation Consumer... Not sweating the little bug, even with Parker logged in as me. Heck we can't beat the dues, and Craig has told us it ain't a simple fix. Just get in the habit of checking the upper right corner as you sign on, and you'll save some red ink
  22. If you guys are serious, let me know your timing and I'll organize a get together with whomever is available over Christmas down here. -D")">
  23. Byron is giving you facts and Randy, who knows what he is, is correct. Develop poor flying habits now, and they will be hard to reverse in the future. Please take their advice.
