  1. Quote: Jeff_S As to hail and tornados, that does provide some worry but that's what insurance is for. One good hail storm buys me new skins AND a paint job for free! (But please, oh gods of aviation, don't think that I'm asking for that! The down-time would suck.)
  2. If it is just you and the wife, a Rocket would be an outstanding choice. Here is a link to the performance numbers for the Rocket mod.... http://www.rocketengineering.com/rocket/305Rocket.pdf My dream aircraft for retirement....
  3. First of all, congratulations sir! It is absolutely uncanny how many military guys have Mooneys. Just when I think there can't be anymore, I run into another one... I may be in the same position that you would be and I would most likely sell it if I was looking to move up. Think about the shiny Eagle you could afford after 2.5 years of COLA payments. Then again, giving it to a trusted partner wouldn't be a bad deal either. I am sure that in your line of work, there would be plenty of people that would meet your criteria. I know I didn't help, but I think that any option would be acceptable. I would probably not pickle the engine and store the aircraft. That can't be good for the aircraft.
  4. Quote: eaglebkh I'm on now (only one in Alabama), but I accidentally edited the title of the map. I tried my best to restore original title - apologies.
  5. Looks great! Care to give a ballpark price for the work?
  6. Asking price?
  7. Beautiful aircraft. Congratulations!
  8. Yhea, i thought they would be falling over themselves for the work. I heard that Wilmar was looking at coming up with an interior similar to the factory deal for half the price. Haven't heard anything in a while.
  9. Quote: KSMooniac The extra elbow room comes from later model sidewall interior panels, not from any fuselage structural changes. I didn't realize that the 252 might have had them, but that would be the explanation if indeed there is more elbow room in the 252 vs. the 231. Mooney will install the modern interiors with composite (and very nicely sculpted) panels in our older birds, but it costs a small fortune.
  10. Not to speak for the OP, but the 830 SHOULD be a slide in replacement for the 800. All you have to do is run the probes to the back of the unit and you should be done. It fits into a standard instrument hole and as long as you dont want it flush mounted, it is pretty straight forward. Obviously that isnt the case here, but I have seen similar upgrades advertised for around 1K.
  11. Thank you very much Jos. Ill give it a shot.
  12. I was getting high voltage reading a few weeks ago before my aircraft went into a pre-buy. The buyer walked away, but the mechanic said I needed a new voltage regulator and battery. I do the work and everything is working just fine. I go on a flight today and my high voltage light flashes intermittently... What is the deal?
  13. I definitely think the mod is worth it at 3K. I have the split removable back seats and it was on the top of the list of options when I was looking for my current aircraft. I rarely fly with more then two people and having all that room back there is awesome.
  14. You and me both my friend. I feel it would be "un-American" to be completely content with what you have... Ungrading to an Acclaim is one of many reasons that I get my ass out of bed for work every morning.
  15. If they turbo normalize it, they have a deal.
  16. Looks great. Congratulations!
  17. Congratulations and thanks for your hard work on this forum.
  18. No problems getting two basset hounds up to 12,500. The best part is turbulence when their ears are floating when the plane drops out from underneath them. They usually just fall asleep.
  19. Congratulations and thanks for all your work on the forum.
  20. You know, I had a chance to buy a 262 for a pretty good price, I should have taken the deal. Perhaps there are one or two floating out there that you could pick up at 231 prices. That would solve many of these issues.
  21. Thanks Lew. I just received a deposit on my aircraft and I received a little more then what I paid for it six months ago. Im already shopping for new planes, but it will be at least a year until I purchase again. Who knows how much an Encore will cost then?

  23. Quote: BayouBoy Doesn't have to. If it does just let me know to help with my planning. I was just thinking that $1000/month is a good round number that I can work with and run past my wife. It's also a number that is easily digestible. Double that, on the other hand, may not be.
  24. Does that include loan payment? I owned an F model for a short time and I now own a J model. I havent noticed any differences in the cost between the two... I think $120/hour is right on target. They say airplanes cost three times the fuel burn.
  25. Just a bump for our new members.
