  2. Congratulations on the delivery of your new Mooney. I think you will have a fun time getting to know your new airplane and building hours and experience. I had to learn to slow down and fly the "numbers". Please post some photos and make sure to use this forum as a way to get questions answered in a safe place. What area of the country do you live in? If you aren't a MAPA member, you should be! They are our Mooney Association and have a good magazine, training opportunities and chat board http://mooneypilots.com/forms/members/form_choice.html

  10. Smitty, take a bunch of mental pictures from today. What an awesome experience and a life-changing event. My solo landing was one of the best I ever had! Then when I transitioned into the Mooney some 40 hours later...I was on top of the world. Congratulations! Enjoy Photos of the T-shirt cutting???
  11. I somehow forgot to make the Porterville Fly-In [KPVT] on June 11-12th an event on our facebook page. I suppose I just had too much going on with Oceano Airport Celebration Day. Here is the scoop... several of us going on Friday to camp... Eagle Mountain Airshow - Porterville, CA June 12th 2010 We will be doing our Mooney Ambassador display to the public. There will be airshow acrobatics, fly-bys, static displays, etc. We can arrive early in the week and camp out. There are shower facilities available at the airport. 12. Teressa and the gang from ArtCraft did a great job. I am working on a video, so those that missed it, can still see some of the educational seminars. Knute--your airplane will look great. Don't forget about Orcutt Burger!
  13. Ameila has decided to take the plunge and be the point person for this fun event as a Mooney Ambassador. So mark your calendars and check out the Ambassador website for registration and details: http://www.MooneyAmbassors.com
  14. Jason, I would be happy to get the word out to the Mooney Ambassadors if you would like.
  15. You know, it will all turn out for the best. The plane we originally thought we "had to have" failed at pre-buy, but that led us to our "perfect for us" Ovation. You will learn a lot for sure. Let us know how it all goes!
  16. A friend asked if I knew any flight schools in Redlands, San Bernardino, Riverside, CA. I don't. This is for someone wanting to get their ticket, not a Mooney pilot [yet!]. Thanks in advance. Jolie
  17. Wow, you are right on top of things Sven. And please let us know if you would like a copy of the manual for the Corrosion X. Happy to ship it off to you!
  18. Hi Sven Thanks for the information. It looks like the headset goes into one jack and the other jack goes into the camera? Thank you for the link.
  19. Someone submitted a video of their approach and landing at Oceano for Celebration Day. How do you get the audio from the intercom/radio on the video. Is there a jack, hook up? I think it just made it wonderful to her how many planes were coming to Oceano. Any help is appreciated.
  20. Is it just me, or.... I was taught not to do "touch and goes" in a Mooney. Although right now I cannot remember the thinking behind it.
  21. It looks like our California weather is going to be nice for this fun, and free event. I know a certain Mooney owner, band leader, is is charge of the live music during lunch. If you think you can come, get registered. Mitch and I look forward to seeing new friends and old at Mooney Madness.
  22. We will be there! What a fun event for us Mooney Owners. I am told a certain Mooney owner might even sing.....
  23. I am thinking of getting: 16GB, WiFi+3G version
  24. Pioneer is located in the Gold Country of California, in the foothills of the Sierra Nevadas. Closet airport is Jackson/Westover old identifier O70, new identifier JAQ. It is my home away from home as my parents live very nearby in Sutter Creek. And my father has flown out of Westover since the early 1950s.
  25. Here is a summary of the event: Oceano Airport Celebration Day was held Saturday May 8th, 2010 This home-town fly-in was sponsored by the Santa Maria Valley 99s. We had approximately 120 aircraft join us and 450 people. Our common goal was to relay to the community the value of General Aviation and GA airports. On the terminal end of the field we were joined by the Sheriff's Aero Squadron, the California Highway Patrol, Oceano Fire, Vandenberg Fire and Empirical Systems Aerospace. At 11:00 those in the area were treated to slices of cake provided by Empirical Systems Aerospace. In the campground activities for the children were provided by the YMCA, Cerro Alto 4-H, the American Red Cross, Rabobank, Arroyo Grande Hospital and The Exploration Station. Stearman Square was host to Volunteer Corner, the 99s Candy booth, Pilot Registration, EAA #499, The Popcorn Brigade, EAA #170 Weanie Wagon, Banner Airways, Angel Flight West, Pacific Aerocademy and ArtCraft Paint. The flight line was anchored by the Mooney Ambassadors with ten Mooney aircraft. PCF Flight School, the Civil Air Patrol, and over a hundred airplanes stretched down the ramp. The day began with some 300 people enjoying the Pismo-5 Cities Lion's Club breakfast complete with eggs, sausage, pancakes, coffee and juice. The EAA Weanie wagon served hot dogs and chili dogs for lunch. The Oceano Elk's sold tri-tip sandwiches. At noon Supervisor Aschadjian proclaimed Oceano Airport Celebration Day as the second Saturday in May from now on! He presented Mitch Latting and Jolie Lucas with the proclamation which will be framed and placed in the pilot's lounge. Central City Swing Band performed from 12:30 to 2:30, and we even had some dancers. The raffle was held at 2:00 and lots of lucky participants won wonderful prizes. Our volunteers sold buttons and raffle tickets by the hundreds. JR Smith's Banner Airways provided a fun wing-walking demonstration themed "Rosie the Riveter." The Popcorn Brigade served complimentary popcorn to the kids courtesy of The Great American Melodrama. Face painting courtesy of ArtCraft Paint.
