  1. I pulled this information off the Mooney Ambassador schedule regarding Sun and Fun Mooney Airplane Company will have a full complement of our sales team along with 2 Acclaims and an Ovation 3 Event location: Lakeland Linder Regional Airport Start your aviation year at Sun 'n Fun, one of the world's premier events for recreational aviation enthusiasts. Mooney Aircraft Company will be on display. Please stop by the Mooney Display to say hello! http://www.mooney.com The decision about whether Mooney Airplane Company will be at AirVenture [Oshkosh] will be made in late April.
  2. Hi Jason Welcome to the Mooney Family. There is a great myth that the Mooney is a difficult plane to fly. I think that is really just a myth. Just as you do with any aircraft, you need to have solid training and no illusions about your skills. Most times I think the times that Mooney pilots get into trouble is when they think they can "get away with something." For example, too much speed on final or in the flare. My 65 E model is the best. She is very predictable and when I fly her by the numbers I can be seen doing the "Happy Mooney Dance" after a great landing. Again welcome! MooneySpace is awesome. And so you know, the Mooney Ambassadors is a group we founded to support the Mooney Airplane Company, and promote General Aviation. http://www.MooneyAmbassadors.com All the best!
  3. I think it looks wonderful Brian. Congrats on the cool paint job. I have to get my fuel leak before ArtCraft takes a whack at my Maggie II. All the best

  5. Mooney Madness registration is up and running again!
  6. There are always exceptions to everything but, normally I lower to 20" MP, lower to 2000 RPM and the nose drops to achieve approx. 400-500 FPM.
  7. Eric, thank you for letting me know. We are working with ArtCraft on the problem. Right now we are in Las Vegas with ArtCraft at an airshow. Esmerlda, from ArtCraft is on her way to the office to open up more spaces for registration. Sorry for the inconvenience. Should be good to go in an hour.

  10. What a happy happy time Alan. I remember the dual I received when I got my E model. It does feel like you are a student again, because we are! Our airplanes do best when we fly them by the numbers. I also remember how hard it was to get slowed down! Speed speed speed! Have a wonderful time.
  11. Registration is open! Come one and all. What a fun day for Mooney Owners, and if paint or interior are in your five-year plan you should be there! http://www.artcraftpaint.com/events

  13. That's a good story and a good looking airplane Ned. Thanks for sharing.
  14. We just had movie night at our Santa Maria EAA Chapter, and watched 16R. We all brought popcorn and pizza, and had a great time. Santa Maria is where the movie the Rocketeer was filmed. So we watched in our Museum of Flight, which was a part of the set for the movie. The sets were going to be destroyed, but they donated the building to the airport, and it is now a functioning, and lovely museum.
  15. Yes, our beautiful Jennie's Facebook profile does say she is in relationship with Brian Terwilliger. They make a handsome couple!
  16. Seriously, who is the fellow that made the movie?? Inquiring minds want to know.
  17. We sent the antenna back to Garmin, and they sent us a new one. They say the cables are the weak link.
  18. What a wonderful feeling to get the plane of your dreams. I did the MOONEY Dance when I got Maggie my E model. If you are looking to show off your new bird, check out our display schedule on the Mooney Ambassadors website. We would love to have you. http://www.MooneyAmbassadors.com
  19. I landed in Petaluma this past summer. It was a challenge because of the wind and lots of traffic. I thought I was doing just great, and then on short final the wind just got squirly. I did okay, not my best landing, but I would grade it a B. I hope that the pilot is back in the saddle again soon. We are a small Mooney family. Hate to see any of us unhappy!

  25. Jan Maxwell of Don Maxwell Aviation put on a pinch hitter introduction at Tahoe a year ago June. It was very very good. She had some great points and a video, which I will try to locate as she gave me a copy. Some points she made, in her beautiful southern drawl, were * If he can do it, you can do it. Make him take you up to practice. * If he is slumped over on the yoke, use the strap of your purse to hold him back [by the forehead]. Us women usually have a sizable purse! * With most instruments if they are in the GREEN you are okay. Know your approach speeds. * She had a video with a fly on the front window. She taught us how to put that fly on the horizon to fly straight and level. Then as the time came to land to control the airplane to have the fly line up with the landing spot. She of course talked about using the throttle to control descent. * Know where you are. GPS or situational awareness Jan, a fellow 99, used to put on the full blown seminars in the past. Our 99s group is doing a companion seminar on May 8th. I think the key is to practice... slow flight, straight and level, and practice talking on the radio.
