  1. To me, the video doesn't look like a Mooney, but the write up says "Muni". http://www.kionrightnow.com/Global/story.asp?S=13568566 A very sad situation. Sorry to lose someone in our Mooney family.
  2. Mitch makes a good point. Now that the "fly-in" season is winding down, think of where you would like to fly in your Mooney. Perhaps a regional fly-in, AOPA/EAA event, airport day or display day. Let either of us know and we can help you to put on an Ambassador display. Many on this list have done so and report that it is very little work and lots of fun. IMHO we can get out there and promote, or sit back and be passive. I think most Mooney flyers by nature are action oriented. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
  3. Mooney employees received unwelcome news this week as the holiday season approaches. http://www.mooney.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=576&Itemid=54
  4. Here is the link for the public radio interview for our Toys for Tots event: http://kcbx.org/mp3archive/ii101110a.mp3 Hope to see you all here at Oceano!
  5. I hope you mean 12/4 for Oceano Airport Toys for Tots! We are gearing up for an awesome time. With the national exposure, we are hoping for a great turnout, and would appreciate all Mooneys making the trip to L52. We will have special parking for the Mooneys that come. Help make a child smile at Christmas. Marine Corps Toys for Tots Event. Toys for Tots Fly-in, Oceano Airport L52-December 4th, 2010 This is a fun event with a great cause. Sponsored by the Friends of Oceano Airport, the event begins at 10:00 with arrivals, 12:00 BBQ lunch, and ends about 2:00 p.m. ACI will be offering a $.25 per gallon fuel discount on the 4th, plus they are donating $.25 per gallon to Toys for Tots. Bring new unwrapped toys, and make a child smile this Christmas. All makes and models of airplanes are welcome. If you cannot attend and would like to mail gifts, or cash donations please contact the Friends of Oceano Airport: http://www.FriendsofOceanoAirport.com
  6. We really had a fun time. AOPA does put on an organized event that is for sure. The workshops that were offered were top notch. It was fun to be "behind the scenes" a bit as well. Mooney was represented at the AirportFest, which resembeled a fly-in. And as well Mark Foster had his Mooney on display at one of the booths. We decided to wear our "Mooney gear" as much as possible. Phil Boyer liked our "What have YOU done for G.A. slogan." Out of the 400 planes at Long Beach, it was funny because we had one Mooney right next to us, and another on the other side. Receiving the award on behalf of myself, Mitch and the other volunteers was quite an honor. Craig Fuller was well aware of the Ambassadors and our mission to support Mooney and promote G.A. That felt good, that folks around the country are taking notice of what we are doing with our beautiful Mooneys. More fun on the horizon!
  7. What goes around comes around.
  8. Hello All It was so much fun to see folks from this list at the AOPA Summit in Long Beach. Thursday lunch was attended by seven Mooney owners and we had about fourteen join us for the Block Party. Mitch and I had a great time presenting for AOPA and for CalPilots. Several of our non-aviation friends thought it was Cow-pilots which is even funnier! Receiving the Joseph Crotti award was the cherry on top. I think that this article is the best one, to actually describe what we did at Oceano, and further with the Mooney Ambassadors. http://www.aopa.org/summit/news/2010/101113oceano.html Also, here is the video link. I was so happy that our Ovation was featured prominently. http://www.aopa.org/aopalive/?watch=tjMXF0MTpdb-RKXElRttNEuEquvTObP8 It was a challenge to carry everything we needed for the various presentations, but the cargo fit nicely into the Ovation, and we were way under gross. We do have the new Mooney Ambassador gear available..sweatshirts or T-shirts. We received a lot of comments from the "What have YOU done for G.A." on the back. The end of the year is coming, and we need to get some more Ambassador events on our schedule. What airport day, open house, or fly-in do you like to fly to? Perhaps it could be made into an Ambassador event. All the best. Mitch and Jolie
  9. I think it is awesome, Fernando!
  10. Hello all: We leave for Long Beach this afternoon Thursday: Meet for lunch at 12:45 at the Convention Center. I am sure there will be a central meeting area of some sort. I will check out some closeby lunch options. Friday night: Block Party. Wear your Mooney gear and meet in the lobby of the Hyatt Regency at 6:00 p.m. I have received many orders for the new T-shirts. If you would like one, or two, let me know. We are going to have some fun at the AOPA Summit. For those who cannot attend, make sure to check out the AOPA LIVE broadcasts. http://www.aopa.org/aopalive/
  11. Yep, Michael just do a forward slip and let 'er rip out that window. I saw that this event was re-scheduled because of an earlier weather delay. The only other Mooney I can think of that is BETTER equipped for this mission is the MITE!
  12. The public radio interview for the Friends of Oceano Airport is being aired tomorrow, Wednesday at 4:00 on KCBX, or listen online at:http://kcbx.org/Pages/Programming/listen_live.html If you are a west-coaster and want to come to a great event, benefitting a wonderful cause, mark your calendar for December 4th, 10:00-2:00 at Oceano Airport, L52. Help make a child smile at Christmas. Marine Corps Toys for Tots Event. Toys for Tots Fly-in, Oceano Airport L52-December 4th, 2010 This is a fun event with a great cause. 13. How about we do lunch on Thursday at 12:45. There is a break in between morning and afternoon seminars. I will try to check out a place and post here or give me a call on my cell. 805-709-6619 Mooney Ambassador gear is in! New shirts feature printing on both sides with our GA motto: "What have YOU done for GA Lately?" They are a $15 donation, and I will have 45 at Summit. Let me know if you would like one. I tried to add the photo, but it kept crashing the site! WOW So Thursday lunch it is!!!
  14. For starters...let's meet in the lobby of the Hyatt on Friday early eve for the Block Party. I believe Pine Street is walking distance from the Hyatt. That is where we are staying. We will be at the Summit and available for lunch on Thursday or Friday. On Saturday we will be over at Calpilots for lunch before our 1:00 presentation. We will have Mooney Ambassador cards and the new T-shirt [printed on both sides] for $15 donation. What say you all? Thursday or Friday lunch??? 805-709-6619 is my cell
  15. Midnight metallic blue with gold accents for my Maggie II.
  16. Hi All The AOPA Summit is next week! Hard to believe. Here is what Mitch and I have scheduled, and it would be lovely to meet up with others on the list. Thursday afternoon: Simple Steps to Save your Airport, a panel discussion with AOPA VP Airports, Bill Dunn. Friday night block party: We are staying at the Hyatt Regency, which looks to be within walking distance of the Block Party on Pine street. How about we all wear our favorite Mooney gear and head out together? Saturday morning: 10:00 a.m. AOPA Awards ceremony: receiving the Crotti Trophy. Saturday afternoon: 1:00- 45 minute presentation to CalPilots on the Mooney Ambassadors and the Fight to Save Oceano Airport. This will be held at the Hyatt in Seaview A. The AOPA Live Film Crew came to Oceano last week to interview us and take shots of the airport. Victor, the producer was offered a bi-plane ride from JR Smith of Banner Airways. We were departing in the Ovation, so we flew near enough to the Stearman to get some cool air-to-air video. Hopefully it will be incorporated into the web/TV presentation. We will have the new version of the Mooney Ambassador shirts available! It would be neat to see members of our Mooney Family there.
  17. We have two or three Mooneys headed to this event. Let me know if you are interested: Mooney Ambassadors, c/o Jolie Lucas & Mitch Latting, I’m emailing you to let you know that the Key West International Airport (KEYW) in Florida is having their first ever Southernmost Openhouse & Aviation Review (SOAR) on Saturday, February 5th, 2011. It’s being produced by a new 501©3, not for profit called, Friends of the Airport (FOTA). We’re hoping you can help spread the word among your membership via newsletters, magazines, online calendar postings, meetings or conventions, etc. We believe your members would be interested because of the following four reasons: 1. We need static display aircraft with a high “cool” factor. If any of your members are interested in putting their aircraft on display for the day, they can contact us for more details. 2. We have booth spaces available. If any of your members owns an aviation related business and would like to have an exhibitor/vendor display at our event, they can download the forms from our web site. It’s a great opportunity to market to thousands of aviation enthusiasts in one location on one day! 3. Key West in February is a great place to be! If any of your members have never experienced the world class fishing, diving, arts & cultural activities that the Florida Keys has to offer, not to mention the warm water, great February weather, Sloppy Joe’s and Margaritaville, they should consider visiting our event. 4. We need sponsors. If any of your members are from South Florida and would like to get in on the ground floor of this new, annual event by helping us produce SOAR, they can download the forms from our web site or contact us for more details. Soar will include aircraft static displays, aviation exhibitors/vendors, flight opportunities, and tours of the new terminal. Please note SOAR is NOT an air show, NOR is it a fly-in; limited ramp space will not allow it. Our web site is http://monroecofl.virtualtownhall.net/Pages/MonroeCoFL_Airport/soar/SOAR. Or they can email us at info.kwiasoar@yahoo.com. As a way of expressing our gratitude for helping us spread the word about SOAR, we would be happy to include your organization’s tri-fold pamphlet (or standard 3.5” x 11” double sided brochure) in our courtesy display rack for free. Just mail the number you want us to display for you to 177 Star Lane, Key West, FL 33040. It’s a great opportunity to expand your membership among other aviation enthusiasts! Thank you. Neal Carbaugh President, Friends of the Key West International Airport, Inc. 305-879-9306
  18. I am hoping Bryan will chime in about gravel/dirt strips. He has taken his Mooney into some crazy beautiful places in the Pacific Northwest. Welcome to the forum, and welcome to the Mooney Family!
  19. It is hard to believe the AOPA Summit is just around the corner. I noticed in today's Epilot that they are offering some cool "Be Well" seminars in the early morning all three days. Here is a link for the schedule. I would encourage all Mooney flyers to attend. The Friday night block party in downtown Long Beach is free [though there is a suggested donation for the AOPA ASF]. Maybe we can all meet up for some fun. http://www.aopa.org/summit/schedule/schedule.cfm?WT.mc_id=&wtmcid;
  20. Dave Thank you for sharing your story. Another thing that you did correctly is not panic. You kept your wits about you. You were systematic and kept in control of your emotions. Post-incident I am sure you had quite an adrenaline rush. It does take gumption to post your story, and I don't think that any of us can criticize. You learned some valuable lessions, and perhaps gained a few "never again" items to your personal checklist. Kudos to you! Let us know what happened with the engine....perhaps it was a guardian angel getting you guys back on the ground sooner rather than later!
  21. I can honestly say I hope MooneySpace can get this figured out! The real Mooneygirl. Let's get back to talking Mooneys....
  22. Jolie This remembers me an event that occurred to me when I was about 3 year old baby when I just mastered to relief myself outside the diapers. We were on a beach party when I was proudly relieving myself in front of a tree. A baby girl comes by and asked me how can I do it. Unable to explain it to her, probably due to my limited vocabulary I pulled her diaper down to show how she can do it. That's when I noticed there was a difference. This is my earliest memory recall. BTW I still do it in front of a tree (when nobody is looking). You don't know what you are missing. Piloto José
  23. You know secretly I have always wanted to be a male, just for a few days to see what it is like.... but this is a bit strange to see me posting and it is really Jose! We are headed to the MAPA Convention in Colorado Springs tomorrow! Should be a fun event for all. Male or Female, get your Mooney there if you can!
  24. Quote: Amelia I'm still wondering why the 'sex' designation is germaine to this forum. If this is a dating site, we maybe ought to post our preferences in companionship instead. (For the record, and in the interests of full disclosure, I'm a grandmother. The grandfather in question has been my favorite right-seater for an awful lot of decades. Not planning to housebreak another puppy any time soon.)
