Sounds like the pump meter might have been off a bit.
-
I spoke to Carlus and he referred me to Seth at Performance Aircraft Power in Berryville, Arkansas. He can get me a couple OH’d jugs in 3-4 weeks, so I’ll be going that direction for the non-serviceable jugs. My other two are serviceable and will be OH’d by J&J in Pleasanton, Texas.

I’m not familiar with them but will take a look.

I’ve just come to appreciate how rare cylinders are are for my motor. AirPower has almost 900 of them presold and they’re only getting a couple a month from Lycoming. I can’t find any overhauled cylinders at places I’ve called. Does anybody have, or know of any cylinders that have been overhauled or are good candidates for overhaul? If so, I’m buying.

Dayton Airshow Tickets June 22 - Front Row Preferred Seating
RoundTwo replied to RoundTwo's topic in General Mooney Talk
$60 each. -
I have purchased a full table (6 seats) for the Saturday show on June 22nd and have 2 seats available for $60 each (my cost). Mooney owners will be filling the other 4 seats, so I’d like to make this a Mooney table. This is a fly-in airshow, so no parking hassles or Ubers required. https://daytonairshow.com/ I’ve circled the actual table below. We’re right behind the announcer’s stage at airshow center.

I do notice that with Turbo in the back seats, my GFC pitch oscillations are a bit worse.
-
Lower.

I hate to nag, but how did this work? I need an ETA radio master cover.
-
Turbo regularly flies in our J. We started out just giving him the rear seat and he seemed ok. We now fold down the rear seats so he has more room. Unfortunately, he no longer curls up to sleep and flies the entire trip in “sphinx mode”, head up an alert (not relaxed). I don’t know if that has anything to do with his arrangement or not. I’m going to do some more testing to find out.

2003 Mooney M20R Brake Bleeding Problems
RoundTwo replied to -M-'s topic in Modern Mooney Discussion
The following information is for my J with pilot side only brakes so I’m not sure if this will work for other models. This past annual I went as far as replacing piston o-rings, so the brake system was completely open requiring a total bleeding. I was working by myself, so the “pump and squirt” method wasn’t going to work, and I didn’t have access to a pressure pot. The secret to this process is having both calipers OFF of the wheels allowing much higher volumes of fluid moving through the system. SUPPLIES NEEDED: 1/8” hose barb as shown above with 6 or 8 feet of clear vinyl tubing 2 spring clamps large enough to squeeze caliper piston into caliper Clear vinyl bleed tubing 2 fluid catch containers Ladder or other suitable support, the taller the better. 1 quart of brake fluid 1. Place a large spring clamp onto each caliper to prevent piston movement and attach clear vinyl tubing to each nipple. 2. Remove vent plug from the brake fluid reservoir, fill it TOTALLY full and then install the nipple. 3. Place the container of fluid as high on the ladder as you can, start a siphon to draw fluid into the tube and then connect the tube to the nipple on the reservoir. This will give you a little bit of positive pressure, but not much. Most importantly, you’ll have plenty of fluid to ensure no air enters the system. 4. Remove BOTH spring clamps. 5. Hop into the plane and pump each brake pedal ONE FULL STROKE. 6. Hop out of the plane and check how much movement there was at each caliper. (Once you’re comfortable with how much each piston moves, you can SLOWLY increase the amount you pump each pedal.) 7. Pick up the first caliper and point the bleed fitting UP, crack open the bleed fitting, replace the spring clamp and quickly force the fluid from the caliper. Lock down the bleed fitting. 8. Move to the other caliper and repeat. NOTE: You’ll probably see that caliper #2 is now a bit farther extended than caliper #1, because it has been unclamped longer and gravity has forced it out a bit further. Once you’re comfortable with how quickly you can bleed #1 and get to #2, you can give #1 a bit more of a pump to help speed things up. 9. Repeat steps 5 through 8 until you no longer see any bubbles when you compress the pistons into the calipers. I was doing a total flush, so I continued until all old fluid was gone. 10. When your flushing is complete, replace the calipers onto the wheels, disconnect the fluid siphon and set the appropriate reservoir fluid level and give it a test. As I stated above, this worked very well on my J but may not be applicable to other models. -
Path forward for return to flying/aircraft ownership?
RoundTwo replied to Wing Nut's topic in General Mooney Talk
After being away from flying for more than 30 years, I got the paperwork and logbook in order with appropriate signatures and went plane shopping. I got the requisite 10 hours of transition training in my J model and paid a hefty $4,000 first year insurance premium. My second year dropped by about 40% after accumulating over 200 hours in the J and adding an instrument rating. It’s been a great experience and one I’m exceptionally glad I decided to jump back into aircraft ownership. My financial advisor isn’t quite as glad I did it.- 22 replies

That’s an everything strike.

Okeechobee is the place to go for fuel. $4 difference for a 20 minute flight.

I hate being “that guy”, but you’ve got one glaring error that needs to be addressed so no one gets hurt. It’s wintergreen, not peppermint.

Sexy New Aveo LED Wingtips for Late Model Mooneys
RoundTwo replied to RoundTwo's topic in General Mooney Talk
Which one? -
Hopefully this will help others in the future. Still, I can’t find any reference to the J308 variant like the one I received. Their specification section doesn’t even list those options.
-
So here’s the new GTN fan being sold by Garmin. I’ve searched by part number, but can’t find anyone selling the J308 version.

Sexy New Aveo LED Wingtips for Late Model Mooneys
RoundTwo replied to RoundTwo's topic in General Mooney Talk
I stopped by the Aveo booth at Sun ‘n Fun, with drool dripping from the corners of my mouth, hoping to see the new Mooney tips. Not so. They did have the tips for the Cardinal, but not the Mooney models. In talking to their Business Development and Marketing guy, Jakub Gregor, he said it will likely be into 2025 before we see anything to touch. These products are not their main business, so they get attention when it’s not consumed by more rewarding objectives. -
Well, outbound from Sun ‘n Fun yesterday, I got the fan failure message. Based on comments above, I ordered the Garmin unit from Sarasota Avionics for $100. I doubt the chances would be very good that they would have had one at their booth, but that would have been really nice if I could have picked it up while there. By the way, their show special for GTN 750 upgrade to 750xi is $5,500 instead of the normal $6,089. I’d like that xi unit, but that’s still a big stack of bills I’d like to put into the fuel tanks instead of the panel.

This looks great. I’ll take a look to see if I have the same interior crack.
