  1. My problem is that those little hairs that start out on the inside have decided to leave town and have all moved to the outside. Now they’re all grown up and are thick and curly.
  2. I use foamies to sleep every night and have found the 3M E.A.Rsoft™ Yellow Neon Blasts™ Earplugs work best for me because they are low-bulk and don’t exert too much pressure in the ear canal. In a pinch, I’ve tried others, but sometimes there’s just too much inner-canal pressure to be comfortable for sleep. The Neon Blasts are smooth on the outside and don’t collect contaminants like the open cell classics that used to come in the cardboard pillow boxes. If they inadvertently go through the wash, they’re still usable, but they’re just more difficult to insert before they rebound to original shape.
  3. Our second MooneyMax, (rookies I know) and it did not disappoint. It was great seeing those of y’all I had met before and I’m glad I was able to meet a few more of our Mooneyspace royalty. This year I had the distinct pleasure of meeting both @donkaye and @LANCECASPER. Both of these two gentlemen have helped me on multiple occasions and it was great to finally shake their hands and thank them personally. It was a great event, but the crickets! I mean damn, I’ve never seen so many grasshoppers and crickets in my life; they were everywhere! I grew up in Florida and thought we had bugs down there, but damn. Cricket season is intense in west Texas. Anyway, another MooneyMax is in the books and we’re glad we were able to attend such a great event. Chuck, Mahota and Turbo.
  4. I think I’m going to try “double plugging” with foamies under my ANR headset for our next long flight. After 6+ hours yesterday, coming home from MooneyMax, my tinnitus has kicked up a notch or two, and that can’t be good.
  5. Another place to get molded silicone ear plugs is pretty much any motorcycle rally or shooting match. There are normally booths setup and they can do them on the spot for $65 - $75. I got my last pair at a Glock match, but any decent sized USPSA or IDPA match should have them because there are always unprepared spectators that attend.
  6. Someone did, but no clear answer was provided. I’m thinking it is a 3D printed piece.
  7. Of course, being here in Metro Atlanta, this was all over the news, but without any details. This is the first I’ve seen explaining why it happened. I can’t imagine how horrible that must have been.
  8. @jetdriven Byron, Any chance you still have those original photos and can put them in a new reply?
  9. Just saw this pop up on FB. https://www.facebook.com/groups/218676792817854/permalink/1058669278818597/?
  10. The Mooney service manual has a specific method for adjusting the indicator. It is definitely not “find your favorite setting and adjust the indicator to match”. Too much chance of damaging the indicator if it’s set outside design travel limits.
  11. I have access to three vintage Mooney cockpits that, I believe, would make awesome simulators housings. Also have access to other pieces of wings and tail feathers that would be cool for man cave bars and such. I’ll get some pictures soon.

  12. He’ll say forget this garbage and use Skew T, and he’d be right.
  13. Not a specific position. That information is available. Think about a prog chart with more granular time input. Now, take that 1200 UTC Wednesday presentation below and move it ahead 4 hours, or 6 hours, or 8 hours, or 13.5 hours.
  14. Easy. INPUT: Wednesday, September 4th 8AM. OUTPUT: Graphical display of currently forecast conditions for visible area of map. Same idea as the 7 day prog chart, but more granular in input.
  15. The data is there, all I’m looking for is a tool that will do a pivot table and index on time, not location. Forecast quality is what it is, but since the data is available, it would be nice if somebody could present it in a different format.
  16. With AI popping up everywhere, it’s logical to assume that applying AI to weather forecasts would be a no-brainer. Now, I’m not suggesting that AI would improve forecasting accuracy, only that AI could be used to provide a graphical forecast from available sources. Using the prog charts is always the first place I go, but it’s extremely coarse more than 24 hours out. Currently, Weather Underground does a good job at providing 10 day forecasts for pretty much everywhere. I’d really enjoy finding a site where I could enter any date/time combo in the next 10 days and be presented with the synthesized data to give one consolidated forecast. Does this already exist? I can only find this for a 24 hour window.
  17. Most low wing ships like ours will require setting it on the glareshield. I do have some concern about the glare, but it may be worth it to be able to make and take phone calls inflight.
  18. I just called to get a confirmation on touring Mooney. While the logistics page does say to come early on Wednesday to visit Mooney, the main tour will be conducted on Saturday, as previously stated. See y’all Wednesday! Sure hope this Gulf depression does something because right now, getting from NW GA to Texas hill country on Wednesday will require some pretty ridiculous deviations.
  19. Have you tried WiFi calling at altitude? That would be a game changer.
  20. Pulling side panel will quickly tell you hose, sender or sealant.
  21. So sorry to hear about your dad. Hopefully things will improve for him quickly.
  22. Hopefully he’ll be thankful enough that his field allowed to pilot to walk away will be enough. Farmers are some of the most kind and thoughtful people around.
  23. Please pass along the contact info of the owner as I’d like to become his new best friend and help him keep my next plane in perfect cosmetic condition.
  24. Was this already posted? If so, I’ll delete it. https://m.facebook.com/groups/218676792817854/permalink/1052348919450633/?
  25. I recently got one from @redbaron1982 and it popped in perfectly.
