Has anyone found one of these recently? Avnet is out of stock. Mine has a broken wire and so far, depinning the connector hasn’t been successful.
-
Is that a calculated empty weight, or was the plane weighed?
-
Gorgeous plane but he bought it in 2006 with 627 hours and 17+ years later it has only gained 183 hours on the clock. The UL isn’t great, as is common with 252’s, but I wonder what she’d actually weigh after the rich upgrades.

Biggest problem is the pilot’s vent window gasket tearing. That gasket is cheap insurance to prevent water intrusion.
-
You were lucky these joints were on vertical sections where moisture wouldn’t naturally accumulate. Nice job cleaning it all up.

I for one will tell you that modern Mooneys, with modern primer and factory foam insulation, not touching any tubes, are not immune to surface rust on the tubes. All planes, regardless of everything, need to have a thorough tube inspection, which requires removing ALL of the duct tape touching the tubes.

I drive 45 miles/1 hour to the airport where I could get a hangar. It’s a pain, but having the plane out of the elements is important to me.

How much Corrosion X is necessary for a full treatment in a J?

DME Arc with GTN 650 Xi and GFC500 ?

I had no idea that my whizbang stuff in the airplane would do that. This is great information. -
Following as I too have “lowish” oil temps but agree that a failed vernatherm normally equates to an hot engine, not cold.

FM Receiver with Bluetooth Transmitter

Too many stations would be a good problem to have, and yes, the Bose headsets have multiple operation modes for handling Bluetooth input and COM activity. -
FM Receiver with Bluetooth Transmitter
RoundTwo replied to RoundTwo's topic in Modern Mooney Discussion
Accepting the fact that there will be a lot of scanning for new stations, it’s either that, or listen to myself hum. Chuck -
Has anyone ever tried to find an FM receiver with a BT transmitter so you can listen to FM radio using a BT enabled headset? Chuck

I love mine. I no longer have to be concerned with melting lenses. Pictures don’t do them justice. They’re much brighter than what comes across in photos. Well worth the expense. Chuck

That’s interesting. Just about every seam and lap joint in the hat shelf and baggage area was sealed with duct tape, presumably from the factory. A lot of effort went into sealing seemingly small sources of air, but this large gap was left open. However, a large majority of the tape had lifted and was no longer providing any sealing.

As my interior renovation has moved from the deconstruction phase to making forward progress, I’ve run into a difficult area to seal up and am curious what others have done. While taping and caulking all of the minute little holes and cracks is being done, there are two huge holes that seem to be ignored because of difficulty. The problem is at the rear intersection of the steel tube cage and the airframe. There’s a direct passage on the outside of the steel tube and the skin that is open to the space below. The space below is to the outside of the rear seat pan, adjacent to the third row of lightening holes. Has anyone found a clever way of sealing this area up? It seems silly to be spending so much time on the little stuff when this area, one on each side, remain unsealed.

What is Synthetic Vision For?

It’s great for promoting lazy scanning when hand flying an approach. As long as you’ve got the runway graphic shown, who needs to watch needles? -
Finally starting to get some wire back kn

I’ve been looking at them. Which unit did you buy? -
Do your overhead lights work? If so, the fuse is OK. Here’s a snip of my wiring diagram showing the fuse. The fuse is down near the bottom, towards the left. Mine is an 88 J, but all of my wiring is prefixed with JK- so I’m assuming it is a common harness. The fuse for the clock and overhead lights is a black in-line fuse about 6” from the master relay on the side of the battery box.

What’s the Best Option for Upgrading Cabin Insulation?
RoundTwo replied to RoundTwo's topic in General Mooney Talk
Well, the big box of Soundex arrived and it’s heavier than I expected. The shipment, including the box, weighed just over 35 pounds. The backing foil is very thick and the foam is dense. It will be interesting to see how much the cut pieces weigh. It’s surely a lot heavier than the foam and fiberglass I pulled out. For those of you that have gone the soundex route before, what did you do for W&B? I discarded the existing insulation as soon as it came out, thinking it was going to be like for like. I’m just guessing, but installing Soundex will probably cost 10-15 pounds in UL. Does anyone have any numbers to support or disprove that? Thanks, Chuck -
Thank you. That’s a much better description than what I was coming up with.

Spent a good amount of time today before it got too hot, scrubbing the floor panel u dear the back seat. Mineral spirits was the cleaner of choice because it was an oily residue. Using a spray bottle of mineral spirits and a tooth brush, I was able to remove 35 years of buildup in the corners and seams. Unfortunately, I did find one unpleasant surprise that will need some focused attention. This is the attachment point for the cabin to the main spar on the copilot side. The bolt goes through the spar and into the threaded boss on the lower attachment point of the cage. Evidently this software doesn’t like it when photos are taken upside down, regardless of how they’re appearing on the phone.

Luckily I’m not dealing with odor but just want to eliminate any potentially corrosive substance.
