In my opinion the only realistic place is Nuclear, what else could it? Solar or wind? Sun doesn’t always shine and the wind doesn’t always blow so how do you get through those periods?

Without even looking that up I can tell you it’s complete nonsense, what it is, is a liquid cooled cable, because if you don’t go to large cables and push huge current through it’s going to get hot. Issue is not the charger, it’s how fast can the batteries be charged, and fast charging damages batteries. Ref the Grid, according to a Elon Musk to replace private transportation with electric is going to require more than a 100% increase in electrical power generation. Then to make it worse, everybody wants inefficient SUV’s and PU trucks. So, no way, no how could the grid possibly support a complete transition. The amount of power an EV uses can easily exceed the amount of current an average house does, depending on the efficiency of the EV and how far it’s driven. There ain’t no such thing as a free lunch.

Prop not going to full rpm on takeoff

Sort of, the prop is a dead end, there is no actual flow, it’s like taking a syringe and pulling liquid into and out of the syringe, a lot of the fresh fluid is the fluid you expelled, your not fully emptying the the prop When you remove a prop it’s not uncommon to find a lot of sludge there, because you can’t really flush all of the oil out. That is why I cycle a prop three times even though it’s not really needed, I’m trying to flush out as much old oil as I can. If he can’t find anything loose or otherwise wrong, I wonder if it could be sludge? -
Yes, too much and it won’t even run, Kerosene has a very low octane and will detonate of course. Similarly a longtime ago I ran my Jeep out of gas and had a gallon of Coleman camp fuel, so I figured why not. Now I’m not sure what Coleman’s fuel actually is but I can tell you that it must be very low octane cause that motor rattled even with me being real easy. For whatever it’s worth Lycoming has a drone motor for the Military that will run on Jet fuel. and Mercury built an outboard that will too, both spark ignition engines. So apparently it doesn’t necessarily require a Diesel to burn Jet.

A lot of misconceptions of EV vehicles. First the “working poor” will be buying them, just not new ones, but then they don’t buy new ICE vehicles either, with the exception of Tesla, EV’s depreciate hugely, my belief is that’s largely due to the subsidies. Nissan leaf for example was worth only 11% of its new price at 5 years. I was going to buy a used Leaf as I could get a good used one for the same price of a golf cart, before the pandemic it was $5,000 for a good Leaf, you could get the cheaper too. Used prices are crazy now though. Run the math yourself, if you don’t have money an EV is they way to go as they cost 1/4 as much to fuel as an ICE car does if you can charge at home,if you have to use a public charger it’s likely only half. https://cleantechnica.com/2020/09/07/all-electric-cars-except-teslas-have-a-depreciation-problem/ Second there is a universal plug, except Tesla again, but the adapter to make the other plug fit a Tesla is about the size of your fist and cost about $30. Finally you don’t want to buy an EV until they can go far? Range is way overstated if you pay more you can get one with over 400 miles of range, but that’s not really needed, except for a very few, traveling sales people if there is such a thing anymore won’t likely want an EV. You can “Supercharge” a Tesla up to about 80% in 20 minutes, that last 20% though just like any battery chemistry takes awhile. But really how many drive long trips often? Isn’t that why we fly? Just rent when you get there, it’s easy they will drop it off at the FBO. Or for most of us just rent, the rentals are unlimited mileage, why rack all those miles on your car? EV’s aren’t for everyone, if for instance you can’t charge at home, then you don’t want one.

If it’s done the same way it is for the Army SOAP (spectroscopic oil analysis) a small amount of oil is put onto a carbon wheel that spins and the oil is burned and a spectroscopic analysis is done. Pretty sure the wheel is only used once, but it’s been 30 years so I forget things. The remaining oil sample is filtered through what actually looks like a coffee filter and washed through with solvent, and the filter paper is viewed under magnification, if there are particles then they are analyzed. You can actually do a decent job of particle analysis yourself, a magnet of course determines ferrous metals and regular pool acid will eat aluminum away, bearing material can often be determined by color. sulphuric acid doesn’t dissolve copper very well either, so if it’s not magnetic and sulphuric acid doesn’t readily dissolve it, it’s likely bearing material. Black particles that are able to be crushed are usually carbon. Dilute the acid of course The oil lab was across the street from my hanger at Ft Hood Tx and they didn’t mind visitors, I think they liked showing off the tech. The Army pretty much invented aviation oil analysis opening it’s first lab at at Ft. Rucker Al in 1961. In my experience a good close inspection of the oil filter is more valuable than oil analysis. -

Not if they are steel particles, I can’t off the top of my head think of anything that could shed quite a bit of steel and not cause problems. Of course I could be wrong On edit check the screen in the accy gearbox housing too. -

Do the particles stick to a magnet? If so then I’d pull a cyl or two and look at the cam. I have never seen an oil analysis catch an engine problem that wasn’t also showing up other ways, like the oil filter inspection. I’ve also never seen anything except repeat sample later. no matter how bad it was. Some are huge fans of oil analysis. I’m not, but then I only have 20 years experience with it with Army helicopter fleets of 18 to 24 aircraft each. I think oil analysis is absolutely outstanding for determining the condition of the oil, but not as much for the condition of the engine. If the particles are magnetic that means of course steel, and most likely place for that is cam, continuing to run it and pump more metal through the engine will cost more mooney to fix. If they aren’t magnetic then maybe you could get lucky like a piston pin bushing or something. This is of course just my opinion -
Depends on the class B and how busy it is. Most often if you try to go through Atl you’ll get the remain clear of class B airspace, but sometimes I’ve been routed directly over the middle of the Atl airport, but not real often. From a safety perspective in my opinion it’s a no brainer especially in heavy traffic area like Class B. IFR is much safer.

Reading through this is interesting, a few comments A great many aircraft, I’d say a majority don’t have right seat brakes, and right seat brakes are nothing compared to say a single Yoke Bonanza When you took your driving test, did your car have a second set of controls? Then the Military comment, as a Retired Military Aviator who has also done significant civilian training I can tell you the two have very little in common. I concur that someone should take their Private in a simple aircraft, and should acquire significant time in one then move onto a complex, then instrument and commercial. The reasons why are pretty easily seen by looking at insurence rates, they pretty closely reflect accident rates don’t they?

Hopefully someone will send you a spring, I don’t have one or I would. OPP is of course one at a time and if a whole slew of them is done in my opinion it weakens your case should the FAA object, especially for a holder of a PMA (my opinion only) worth what you paid for it. PMA if your willing is the way to go go, I can’t imagine any A&P blink an eye on a PMA part, but some may give pause to an OPP one as the airworthiness determination is on them, and how would Joe Average A&P determine the airworthiness of a spring? Side benefit is I believe you could make a decent amount of money on them. -
I just bumped into this thread and did a quick scan, but didn’t read it all, so if this has been posted already I apologize. If your primary desire is hearing protection don’t get a Bose headset, or any other headset that doesn’t work well with the ANR off, reason is they are very poor passive sets, they rely heavily on the magic of ANR and that’s a great marketing tool. Salesman says just turn it on and see how good it is. Impressive isn’t it? Problem is ANR can’t cover all freqs. So if you have a Bose or similar headset, wear the foam plugs under them and turn up the volume. The cheap foamies are actually extremely protective Another way is to get a very good passive headset and add ANR to them, that gives you the best of both worlds, ANR on top of a good passive set really reduces noise. Headsets Inc is a good passive set with an ANR kit installed, If you have a favorite legacy David Clark you love, why not upgrade them with gel ear cushions and an ANR kit? Makes them among the best headset available then. I have three helmets with ANR kits installed and a headset from these people https://www.headsetsinc.com Note where it says they service every headset they have ever sold. I’ve had two Bose headsets that Bose wouldn’t fix as they don’t support them anymore, so that’s $2,000 in the trash. Any of my Headsets inc can be repaired regardless of age, I have had the oldest since 02 and haven’t needed a repair yet

Ones I have used were white, not saying buy your aircraft parts from Ebay, but that was the first Google hit, and has a picture https://www.ebay.com/itm/291640018878 I want to think without looking thst it’s the K in the part number that indicates teflon, but I may be mistaken, it seems that teflon clamps like teflon hoses last a very long time

Ref supplemental O2. it hurts nothing at all to have it on and not need it, heck why not don it on the ground especially if punching into an 800 ft overcast? One less thing to worry about while getting reroutes IMC. Secondly the 10,000 ft thing is based on young healthly people, some of who are older may benefit even lower. Lastly from memory, even young healthy Military pilots start to lose night vision at 6,000 ft without supplemental O2.

I think it’s the pressure delta, many aircraft the heater air intake is on the the outside of the cowl sort of like a ram air intake, I haven’t looked but believe our Mooney’s must be inside of the cowl and subjected to air pressure differences with flaps open or not. The heater hose inlet on my Maule made removing the cowl a PIA as you couldn’t remove it until the cowl was dropped some, but had to remove it to drop it completely, had great heat though as it had dual heaters, but a pain to remove the cowl

That is what it will take I believe, you have a PMA? I’m surprised no one has, there has to be money in it, especially for the Plessey guys, their only solution currently is a 14K or so overhauled Eaton? -

81 J model, My cabin heat has low airflow when cowl flaps are open, close them and you get way more airflow. Is this normal? I’ve never noticed a decrease in airflow in other aircraft

This is a airplane for an A&P, they can put a lot of sweat equity into it and have something. Old cars, boats etc anyone can work on and restore, but a Certified aircraft requires an A&P for much of the work so be sure to factor in those costs when planning.
