@carusoam The no-hazard system has no requirement for dual alternators. The FIKI system does only for flight into known icing conditions. If the flight is not into known icing (dry warm VFR day) the dual alternator requirement does not apply. See page 8 of the flight manual supplement 08100-FMS: "9. The following equipment must be installed and operational for flight in icing conditions:"

@apenney the sealant is stable and flexible from -76°F to 356°F. My guess is it never got put on during install if the stub is clean.
-
@apenney Per our installation manual two sections of convoluted tubing are used in two separate places. You could measure your existing length of tube and purchase a new (longer) length of tubing to relieve the tension on the door. Additionally there is a NOTE in the install instructions "When connecting the convoluted tube, apply sealant to the pipe stub/inside of tube before assembly".
-
@apenney clean the inside of the convoluted tubing and filler door connection very well with isopropyl alcohol and let dry. Coat filler door with a layer of Dow Corning RTV Sealant 732 (color of your choice), install convoluted tubing, tighten hose clamp and allow to cure.

AS&T changed names to CAV, so we are the same company. Original release for the FIKI was early 1995. Late 1995 updated the tail bracket assembly, 1996 we changed rivet specifications, 1999 added control panel option, 2004 added a two-blade propeller option and other minor adds through 2009. Admendments were added to the original STC for all these.

@carusoam we write the Flight Manual Supplements for our FIKI (08100-FMS) and no-hazard systems (04600FMS). Not sure where the +30°C came from. The temperature in our FIKI FMS is a NOTE on page 21 Section 4 Normal Procedures which states: "Conditions exist for icing when the indicated outside air temperature is +3°C or below and visible moisture in any form is present."

I would recommend TKS fluid with a lint free cloth as it can get into the porous membrane and tends to pull fluid to the surface. I've had success wiping the leading edge while running the system to pull fluid out of dead spots. If all else fails, we do have a purge procedure that isolates individual panels. If solvent has damaged the porous membrane you will know it. Fluid will typically squirt out of the panel 3-6 inches like a shower from the solvent damaged area.
-
6. Only the following solvents are authorized for cleaning the leading edge panels: Water (with soap/detergent) Approved De-Icing Fluid (see 3.) -TKS 80 -AL-5 (DTD 406B) -TKS R328 Aviation Gasoline Isopropyl Alcohol Ethyl Alcohol Industrial Methylated Spirit

Glad you got it working!!! Any future troubleshooting issues feel free to PM me and I'll send you my email and phone number.

On a FIKI Mooney the installation weight and balance for the system is calculated with no fluid. (Weight: 51.1 lbs, Arm: 80.1, Moment: 4093.1). This is used for calculating your new empty weight. The numers for your everyday weight and balance (fluid weight) comes from section 6 page 31 of your 08100-FMS Flight Manual Supplement. On a No-hazard Mooney the installation weight and balance for the system is also calculated with no fluid. (Weight: 36.7, Arm: 79.6, Moment: 2921.3). The numbers for your everyday weight and balance (fluid weight) comes from Section 6 page 13 of your 04600FMS Flight Manual Supplement.

IA course at Baker school of Aeronautics opinions
CAV Ice replied to Hradec's topic in General Mooney Talk
I went to Baker's to get mine. Studied Mon-Thurs in class and 3-4 hours after class for the entire week. Tested out Thursday with 100%. Baker's teaches you the test. Well worth the money in my opinion. -
Yes, it appears this AD would make the affected Aspen units restricted to day VFR use only. I'm sure Aspen is on top of this to come up with a solution though otherwise they are going to loose a lot of business $$$$.

Backwards in a 152 during slow flight. CFI pointed at the road we were supposed to be crossing, but the road was getting further away from us. Odd feeling. On the other hand made it back from Denver to Kansas City a couple months ago in 2hrs 12minutes in a Columbia 400.

@jetdriven the FAA came out with an SAIB covering Bonanza, Baron, and Debonair series airplanes. The reason corrosion is occuring is due to the high carbon steel hinge pin beech switched to. The TKS doesn't corrode the pin itself, but TKS fluid will wash away any lubrication/oils/ect. that are on the pin. Previous versions of the aircraft with the stainless steel pins are not being effected to our knowledge.
