  1. Wonder if this is because the Baby Boomers are supposed to have more money.
  2. I raised mine from 45 to 75 and got dinged 1amu
  3. My 1959 manual isn't that fancy. I did find a Vy at 105 on the checklist sheet but haven't used it since the manual stated 120 and the previous owner said to use 120. But he never flew much above 4-6k.
  4. Thanks. I've been through the manual and guess I assumed Vy was 120 since the manual says to climb between 115-120 once out of the pattern. It also mentions for "High Altitude Climb" on a hot day with a heavily loaded airplane to climb at 120-125mph. I've just assumed that was IAS. On that flight I was showing 120 IAS at 9280' AGL. I was going 158mph ground speed but only climbing at 150fpm. (Had tailwind but didn't record the speed. I think it was 10-15)
  5. Yes. EDM 711 I'll test a couple things and see. I did lean a few times. Just shocked to find it took me 36 min over 78 miles vs 10 min. (As estimated) for a 240 mile flight at 11k. at least at this point in life I carry extra fuel and smaller kids
  6. Trying to spread the wings on this little bird of mine and my fuel burns have been way more than expected. I plugged info into foreflight for my performance profile according to the answers I found. And now for reality. I flew up to 11,000 started a timer at 2500 and recorded the altitude every minute. I did my best keeping it at 120 IAS and would guess it was there at least 95% of the time. I think I had I averaged 236 FPM climb rate. Starting at 460FPM and ending around 160FPM and took me almost 36 minutes and 78 miles to get there. My question's are: 1. Am I doing this wrong? 2. Should this be done full rich or leaning? If so, when do you recommend leaning? Certain altitudes? 3. Any other recommendations? <-------- In that plane (M20A)
  7. No joke. How much did yours go up?
  8. I call BS on that. I get updates roughly 5-8x each month that there was an update to the models. Sometimes it’s just rearranging them. But someone is changing them on a regular basis. So if they are behind. It’s surprising. It could be that not all information is passed on to the website crew.
  9. And the GPS keeps working even without being on a plan.
  10. I figured since I was an existing customer they would have helped me. After all, it sounds like a technical support problem to me. I had an old GPS, now I have new GPS and the cards are technically different . Either way, they lost my business when he told me their database is more accurate and that pilots should chose them because of it.
  11. He is already using Foreflight, so that will also show him.
  12. I was with Jepp and had a new GNX375 installed. Couldn't get this changed on the weekend because sales was closed, which put me in a bind. When I tried to get it switched, I was told it would be a $500 yearly subscription. I asked why so much more than Garmin. And I quote "Our database is more accurate" and we are here for you 24/7. But then was told they have to collect a fee for Garmin. So since I couldn't switch anything on a weekend and I can get it for almost 1/2 the price I cancelled and got the $299 version straight from my GPS maker.
  13. @Parker_Woodruff What are the milestone needed to get the next insurance break? I've heard getting IFR, 300 hours, 800 hours, 100 hours in type. Heard speculation that commercial rating might actually raise rates. More frequent flying hours in a year vs less hours. What are you seeing? I would hate to renew my insurance and find out later that if I had a few more hours that it would have saved me even more.
  14. I would recommend the 8000G. Lots of features. But then again I don't know how deep your pockets are for this project.
  15. Doesn't the 450B instructions recommend certain mic covers? Better check the manual, that might be the reason.
  16. So true with any vehicle purchase.
  17. Hey, I happen to like my M20A wings. They are the only pair I've got.
  18. Get an insurance quote first. Then decide how you would like to proceed. I purchased my plane, then got the quote and almost fell off my seat. It was almost twice as much for a 180hp Mooney then it was for a Bonanza E35 with 225hp. Landed up getting over 25 hours in it and that almost made my rate doable.
  19. Just dropped down to a mini 5. Like the size better in the cockpit than my Air2.
  20. Just did the 8000G. Well worth it. Bluetooth. And a usb charger port. Crisp and clear sound. Lots of features.
  21. * updated with model numbers and a pic for the Alcor EGT gauge
  22. Sorry. No luck on that. Just the parts that are in the pictures (and the one that isn't - but it's in the list)
  23. PM me an offer
