  1. Probably should have taken more before photos, but halfway through the tail root fairing, after the tail root horizontal fairing and cowl mod were installed. Up next, the hinge covers, aileron and flap gap seals.
  2. I can attest to this. I'm having a structures buddy put mine on, while he's on furlough. He was originally going to charge me an hour to install over top, but decided to make it look better and go the sandwich and rivet route. He's into it for roughly 4 hours now, and called it quits for the day to get different bucking bars. Call it 4.5-5 hours total install. Hopefully he picks up the average time on the other 5 mods....
  3. Normally, you pay a little extra for that. In this case, he's gonna pay a lot.
  4. Well, 4 1/3 Gallons anyways.
  5. Thanks for this. I was confused by the 500 suggestion. Looking forward to the F being certified.
  6. Two types of foam come to mind: - Polyurethane - Polystyrene If you're in an oil based area, look up companies that make pigs (insert your worst Deliverance joke here). For those who don't know, they're basically a rubber plug that is put into a pipe, and with pressure, are sent through the line to clean it out. They are typically made out of solid polyurethane, and one could be cut in half and formed to fit your cowl openings. use whatever you'd like to cover the outside once said fit has been completed. Polystyrene is more of a rigid insulation foam. We have it come in 2x8' sheets here, and our civil contractors use it to create frost boxes under shallow buried utilities (for those of you down south, "shallow" up here is less than 9 feet of bury... our frost gets down that low and freezes pipes in the winter if its buried less than that). It is somewhat brittle, but you can use an exacto knife and cut out the precise shape fairly easily. Once again, cover with what you prefer.
  7. Wait. Got it: https://www.yumpu.com/en/document/read/31072882/wax-job-with-pictpdf-cafe-foundation
  8. Getting a forbidden to access error. Now you just have me curious
  9. Here’s what I ordered and used. started with F9 Then G6 A and final was S
  10. I’ve literally given up trying to figure out why some photos go sideways and others do not.
  11. I’ve spent collectively 7 hours now, cutting, waxing and polishing the top half of my 74F. The paint is original, and was actually rough to the touch before I started. As time is limited with family, work and everything else, a couple hours here and there were all I could muster. Started with the tail, just to get the hang of a smaller area, then worked my way onto the fuselage, upper cowl and finally the wings. After finishing the top section (the top “half” of the plane is done. Still need to creep around and do the bottom), it was time for a flight. A night flight in calm skies were making me feel as if I was imagining things. Was I REALLY getting that much airspeed? Must be a tail wind. After a few night landings to stay current, I decided to climb up to 10k, set the MP to 20” and the RPM to 2600. Triangulated three headings. Result was an average speed that was 6 kts faster than usual! 6 kts??? Because of a wax? I think I need to find me a karate student.
  12. On that note..... I’m getting new glass from GLAP next week. Is this eye sore already cut in? If not, where do I stick my OAT Gauge for the EDM900?
  13. Alan, there’s a guy in Ontario with a 67 F that had a prop strike. He’s trying to sell the whole plane. With the $ exchange I think you might be able to get it for a decent price.
  14. JPI says they're closed, but they're working with limited staff... I had an EDM900 sent down there and they shut down the day after it arrived. They had back to me a week later.
  15. Another description of exponential growth, by my Caltech PhD Sister and Brother in Law: I think as humans it’s hard to get our heads around the concept of exponential growth. Just a few days ago the total number of COVID-19 deaths in the US was around 3,000 (terrible, for sure, but not devastating) and the projections were for 100,000 to 240,000 (whoa!). How do we get there? The sad answer is – it’s easier than you think. Chris is a high school chemistry teacher, and I love this joke he used with his classes in April. He’d tell them, “Hey, we’re getting close to the end of the school year, and I know you all want an A+. I’m a practical guy and not above bribes (they don’t pay teachers much!) So here’s the deal… I will give you an A+ in Chemistry if you just do this: Bring me a penny on April 1. Then every day for the month, you just double it – so you owe me 2 cents on April 2, etc. If you hold up your end of the bargain for the 30 days of April, I promise I’ll keep up my side of the deal.” The kids laugh and the enterprising ones get excited for a little bit, but then they do the math… After two weeks – halfway through the month – you’ve had to pay a cumulative total of just under $164. Say, that’s a pretty good deal for a great grade! Things are looking awesome!! But then it all falls apart. One week later you’ve paid $21,000, and by the end of the month you’re at nearly $11 million. (!!!) [Suffice it to say no student ever took Dr. Dartt up on his offer or we would have retired long ago.] We’re at the same point in the Coronavirus journey. Early on it was tens of cases, and then hundreds. It’s now about 5,300 deaths in the US. If you’re one of those people who thinks, “Yes, that’s bad for those people, but over the entire US population that’s not a terrible number” you need to prepare for the exponential math that’s coming. This is the data on COVID deaths by country [from here if you want to track: 91-divoc.com/pages/covid-visualization]. The US remains on a straightline path on a log scale – that means it’s still exponential growth. ☹ Until that curve bends SIGNIFICANTLY flatter we need to prepare to be overwhelmed. Don’t be lulled into a false sense of security if there are few cases around you. Things always look like this in the early days. Be smart. Stay safe. Stay home. #staythefuckhome
  16. Look no further than my home province to see what Social Distancing will do. Calgary, a population of 1.3 Million has 71% of the cases in a province of 4.4M. Why? Primarily because of this: https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/calgary/cargill-meat-plant-closed-outbreak-covid-19-1.5538824 Here's a meat packing plant, that primarily has immigrants working there. The majority live in Calgary, and car pool the 40 minute drive to work daily. And when I say "car pool", I mean they stuff 12 bodies into a minivan, and hit Hwy 2 south. I've seen it. I know it for fact. Take ONE person in a van having COVID-19. That now means There's 12 potential people infected by the time they hit the plant. They disperse, and say they contact 5 people during the day. 3 were lucky and managed to avoid an infection. 2 weren't. That 12 now becomes 36. Half of them carpool back home with an average of 5 per vehicle (and no, that's not an exaggeration). 45 minutes in close quarters, you have potentially upwards of 180 carriers, now going home to kiss their loved ones, go grocery shopping and spread. Doesn't take much. I'm quite glad I live in Central Alberta now, where we've had 33 cases in the city, and only have 2 active. The county around me only has 1 active case. Feeling like I'm in a bubble, and enjoy flying over it knowing I'm safe.
  17. Isn’t the fuel gauge only accurate when it’s empty or full anyhow?
  18. Bring back the inner gear doors for the older models. That's been abandoned.
  19. I know. But, the coffee grinder needed to be replaced, and any inkling of a potential speed gain to catch up to my Comanche 250 buddy works for me. He said the same thing about the price tag, then I asked him how much per hour is costs him to fly....... then he shut up.
  20. Easily adapted. AME made this when he installed.
  21. Those pot smoking hippies in British Columbia know how to do it right.
  22. Already contacted them. They pushed me on to a local supplier, who has since given me a price and a 3-5 day delivery time. I've passed the information on.
  23. Just sent you a couple private messages.
  24. I'll email Jupiter sales right now and see what I can do for you.
