  1. I thought a picture to post from last years Mooney Max, but I can’t find it so I will describe it: Don had a Mooney in the hangar on which a hangar door had fallen. It would have crushed the vast majority of all aluminum GA planes flat. The passenger compartment cage held the hangar door off so well, that they were able to open the aircraft door.
  2. I would still be ecstatic about my C had I not injured my shoulder forcing me to electric gear. C’s are wonderful to start with, but mine was an incredible example. Nothing at all wrong with a C.
  3. If the Tail number weren’t visible would you be able to tell if she is an F or a J?
  4. Yeah, but dontcall me and ask me to be the ferry pilot.
  5. My F has the battery in the tail. I am quite confident that the front seat position in my F is exactly the same as my previous Mooney, a C. The difference is 5” in the back seat, 5” in the cargo area and repositioning of the wing.
  6. Yes, and a very nice lady! She, her son and her husband go out of their way to make you feel at home whenever you are there. By the way, they do some pretty good work on Mooney’s too.
  7. Outstanding! This was a great event and we look forward to another one.
  8. Very well put Paul. I am indeed frustrated, but although I planned on the TruTrak being the obvious choice and thought that within a few months after purchase it would be equipped with an AP, I didn’t base my purchase decision on it. My frustration comes from the fact if I had not been so convinced that it would be available in the foreseeable future I would have done something different and already have something installed. You are correct, I should not have used the word lie and I offer my apologies to all it may concern. When I read that TT had not submitted the paperwork, but were implying it was in the works, it sounded like a lie to me. I will back off, eat crow and wait for the facts to bubble up.
  9. Was Corey the sales guy? He told me the same thing in October at the Mooney Max event. This is terribly disappointing. I too made a purchase decision with the TruTrak plan factored into my decision. Very disappointing. What do I do next?
  10. Just yesterday I wrote the check for the Cessna renewal and I paid the exact same premium as last year. The carrier even changed, but the premium and coverage was exactly the same. Hope this holds true for the Mooney. It comes up in early August I think.
  11. I thought it was the wing inner structure that added the weight, but I am certainly no authority on that.
  12. As long as it is corrosion free and you are good with the reduced useful load, it should be a good choice. There is a B not far from me that flew in one day and I met him. If he hadn’t told me, I wouldn’t have known that it was a B. A very nice airplane. That said, I wouldn’t be searching out a B, but if I was in the market and found a good one, I would be good with it.
  13. Okay, I found it! It is located in the left wing about three feet from the tip and about two feet behind 5he leading edge.
  14. They already are IMHO. That said, they apparently are the only one investing enough bucks in R&D to obsolete their own products. Like it or not, they’re the big dog.
  15. Yes, Don has had it around for a long time. Went through it with lots of good mods, fresh paint, panel from scratch, topped a mid time engine. Have had some issues while shaking it down, but it has now stabilized quite nicely. Good job on the transponder by the way!
  16. Yep! With Garmin it’s always something.
  17. Does Garmin not have flat rate repair charges? I paid a fat flat fee when my 430W had to go to their bench.
  18. Wow! That is fast! How much useful load?
  19. A Texas Taildragger?
  20. You don’t hand fly your plane when there’s no working autopilot? Do you stay on the ground? BTW, I am happy for you that you have no money tied up.
  21. Your money might be tied up for quite a while. In the mean time you’ll be hand flying unless you have a working AP that will be replaced.
  22. I guess the hint will be when I find a heavy looking coffee can.
  23. Frustrating is putting it mildly. I’m about to take a shot to see if they can successfully overhaul my Brittain. Very sad.
  24. Well, World War II anyway. The Great War refers to World War I. Thanks very much for the pictures! I’m really puzzled. I can’t imagine where it might be mounted.
  25. I sure hope not, but if they do, I won’t replace with Garmin. To add to my product development comments, Even though a company is obsoleting their own products, They must support their legacy products to maintain customer confidence.
