Master cylinder replacement or repair
salty replied to salty's topic in Vintage Mooneys (pre-J models)
You didn’t say duplicate, that’s why I asked. Your message was fairly cryptic. -

I can see one - in Brazil. -
Master cylinder replacement or repair

Not sure what you are saying here exactly. You need the old one to duplicate? Any estimate for cost? -
Lots of threads on this already, but not much useful information on finding a replacement. One of my original paramount master cylinders is acting like the check valve failed. If I push hard and quick it grabs good and holds forever, but if I press slowly it just sinks to the floor and nothing. I replaced all o rings and nothing changed. The “shake-proof washer” is not broken and everything seems fine. Not sure what to do at this point. Not getting any hits on a replacement paramount, cleavland or gerdes.

Calling the wing leveler an autopilot is like calling trim auto pilot IMO. I hunted for an Accuflight for awhile. Wasted a lot of time. Not going to waste any more time or money on that solution. I’d rather hand fly.
-
What autopilot? The wind leveler is not an autopilot. I’m not going to put in a 50 year old piece of junk in there. If they ever certify a modern one I’ll install it.

Finally took my first lesson for IR today. Everything went great. Dual G5’s and a GNC355 make approaches dirt simple to fly. I did pretty good with stabilized approach flying 120 until FAF and then throwing the gear out and a notch of flaps and slowing to 90 until 2 miles out then putting in a couple more notches of flaps. what I wasn’t comfortable with was the wing leveler. I hate maneuvering with it on, but man it’s nice on final. I tried with it off and on with the (film canister) and much preferred it off, but I’d rather have it on to glance at charts and stuff. Last two approaches I left it on and tried to get used to using the button to turn it off when maneuvering. I’m thinking thats what I need to learn to be comfortable with, but I didn’t like it yet . I tend to get “Pitchy” when I’m holding the button. just curious what others do with the wing leveler.

I'd put money against this if we weren't both going to be dead by then.

That’s what they’ve been saying for more than 50 years. Good luck with that.

#3 Cylinder runs very hot after overhaul

I have a similar situation. Your observation makes me think the spacer is masking the truth. -
The annunciator light is yellow, but the alert in the 900 display is red. And yes, it’s annoying.

How many rivets are there in a Honda Accord? They are disposable cars. They are built well, but they aren’t built to disassemble to do annual maintenance or Perform an AD on internal parts. Hell, there are no internal parts like a wing spar, just about everything is structural. Break one thing, and the thing would be unairworthy and possibly irreparable. You can’t compare them. GA died 40 years ago, when sales dropped to the point innovation was a waste of money. We’re just crawling along until until all the corpses drop for the last time. I for one will keep dragging the dead body as long as I can.

Just as another data point, I just renewed and upped my hull by 20% due to panel upgrades and my rate went up less than 20%. I do not have IR, but I got a new rating last year (PP glider) and flew 180 hours with 108 in type last year. I think hours last year is a key factor.

Hasn’t changed much for me yet, but I did have two trips planned this summer that may get scrubbed if sanity doesn’t return. I’m in the camp that feels we’re using a tourniquet to the neck to stop a nosebleed. I too fear our society has been permanently damaged by accepting this approach. Anybody that doesn’t think our leaders have noticed how easy it was to control us so completely is fooling themselves.

So, you're providing a convenient way for all your customers to infect each other while you avoid them. Interesting business plan. -
Love of flying in the Time of Coronavirus
salty replied to ilovecornfields's topic in Miscellaneous Aviation Talk
I've been wanting to fly the wife and I out to Tucson in the Mooney, but she's been reluctant. She's even more reluctant to fly commercial due to corona. So, we have two long cross country trips planned now for this year. I'm loving it. -
Looking for Hangar in central Florida
salty replied to BillC's topic in Hangars / Aviation Real Estate
The new owner of x05 is planning on building some hangars. Doesn’t help now but something to keep in mind for the future. I can give you the airport managers email if you want to dig deeper. -

Yep. It’s awesome. -
Vernier mixture cable for E model?
salty replied to brownm's topic in Vintage Mooneys (pre-J models)
They look original to me. It's really difficult to get pictures, it's very tight around there. next two are the mixture control Mixture is top left, prop middle, throttle right you can see all 3, mixture on top, throttle on bottom the mixture above the gear block shows mixture better. there's "plenty" of room another view of all 3 from upside down, mixture is the closest, throttle furthest -

Oh yeah, I also took the opportunity to swap the mixture and prop to the standard positions. I did an engine overhaul so I replaced all the controls at the same time. Not sure that it matters since the prop control I installed is also a vernier. I can take some pics if you want. Just let me know. -

I just did this on my 65 manual gear 'C. Other than it being a pain in the ass to do anything with those controls, I didn't have any issues with the gear latch specifically. -

I don’t know your exact course but I show a difference of 2 miles to divert around the bravo in an approximation of the course you showed. -

I really have no idea what the issue is. You could fly that course at 4000 feet without talking to anyone if you had adsb. ok, you’d have to turn left a few miles to avoid that one shelf. Big deal. I bet it’s less than 5 miles longer. -

From your comments, I think maybe you don't understand what "remain clear of the Bravo" means. It does not mean you can't fly under the shelf. It only means you can't fly INTO the Bravo. UNDER the bravo is not INTO the Bravo.
