  1. Curious what row you were in. I was in 148 (next to Skates) but left earlier in week. Several Mooneys in area.
  2. Thanks, I’ll check it out. Tried to make a stick on initial fueling post bladder installation, but the results were unusual. Haven’t revisited the project.
  3. The oil temp addition to the JPI is great. If it is like mine, the readings are higher than the stock gauge owing, I suppose, to the pick-up location. I generally see 198 deg on the JPI.
  4. Very nice. I wish I had that for my 54 gallon C installation.
  5. While a student at Purdue University in the mid ‘60s, I was a part time flight instructor for the aviation department. It was at that time that the school was retiring the Cessna fleet and bringing on the new-fangled Piper Cherokees. The Cherokee, as we all know, has the rigid rudder pedal to nose wheel link as opposed to the springy Cessna system. This fact was the reason for a special instructors meeting to brief us on the reported problem of Cherokees around the country being involved in “ground loop” type incidents caused by X-wind landings and the nose wheel being cocked at touchdown. Well, 60 years later I am not aware that this problem materialized. Neutralizing the rudder at nose wheel touchdown is the answer.
  6. I keep hoping in light of the horrific prices the boards go for someone will develop a well thought out rigging procedure using digital levels/protractors.
  7. I made the mistake of flying my Citabria to a seller for inspection and delivery where it developed a surprise bad cylinder. In my own hangar, it would have been fixed. There, it was too much trouble to do anything but adjust the price. Oh well, I try to make every mistake I can survive. Remind me to tell my Eli Graubert story sometime.
  8. I’ll never look at my laminar flow wing the same again.
  9. I had an errant clamp that nicked the nipple on the bladder, causing a leak. Had to send the tank in for repair. Hope yours is simpler.
  10. Anybody tried this? Antisplataero.com
  11. My son ( the Delta captain ) was doing a fine job flying C150’s at 11 or 12. TO & L, too. I stopped getting airsick at that age when I moved from the back seat of the Stinson to the front and was invited to fly. I’m close to Akron but my schedule is unreliable or I would offer to give the kid a chance. Must be a young CFI out there somewhere.
  12. FWW I have probes in both NACA scoops, one for G5, one for JPI. Both read the same. Someday maybe do the underwing experiment, but I think it’s close enough for my purposes.
  13. The small access panels are fairly convenient, I guess. Some access. I’m reminded of when I flew my Bonanza to meet up with a peripatetic purveyor of Beryl d’Shannon mods where the speed slope windshield conversion was done in a day. Flew in at 162 kts, flew out at 162 kts. Sure looked cool, though.
  14. I just thought he was inspecting cowl inlets for untucked gasket thingys. He always notices when mine aren’t. LOL
  15. Forum personas are a lot like old radio stars. Without realizing it one forms an image of the unseen speaker and that is what they look like in your mind. But now seeing that Anthony is tall, lanky and handsome I have to try to erase the chubby little Italian guy he was in my imagination. Maybe we should all post pictures of ourselves. Or you can just go on thinking of me as Harrison Ford, if you wish.
  16. Now it’s much later. Are these still around? My AI is about to get a set for a G. Could save him a few bucks.
  17. Cruise through eBay for sales brochures
  18. 1965 brochure.
  19. There is a company AeroTouchups listed in the Google machine. It is in Titusville FL and it may have been the place that I used to get some paint a few years ago. I’m hedging a bit because I can’t lay my hands on the info on exactly who I used, but that sounds right.
  20. I sometimes would imagine N**8DP and manipulate the background to bring out a hint of a “B” from the 8, thus giving my vanity BDP initials. But with age all vanity has disappeared, thus Crocs with socks and sweatshirt attire.
  21. I parked my last B744 nearly 18 years ago. Took one airline ride since. Nice to know not much has changed. Don’t miss it much, but we had good crews that made up for bad management and a few troublesome passengers. Was fun for 37.2 years.
  22. Check gear rigging tensions and downlock block for wear. Had same issues.
  23. I’ve heard it called “the best that Piper built”. But is the Mooney connection a myth?
  24. At 77, 5’11”, 173#. Down 30# from year ago where I had been forever. Does wonder for bp and cholesterol. But I’m not an IO-550.
