  1. Insulation for three reasons. Reduce avionics heat from solar load, noise vibration dampening and reduce chance of condensation raining down into all things electrical. When you replace it avoid anything with foil backing.
  2. Received a tip from another member Jsno , sorry not sure how to link a member, anyway I purchased from (Aircraft Door Seals LLC.) and it appears to mimic the O.E. Shape “V”. Haven’t yet installed but looks like it will work well, again haven’t installed yet.
  3. You can remove the rubber grommet and send this down for a better view.
  4. Search eBay; zerk 6-40 unf Alemite #3018 6-40 UNF-2A usual broken one
  5. BAS Parts Sales has what you need except money, time and patience.
  6. Mine also, found that time and uneven pressure applied by that clamp caused the aluminum head assembly to bend. It then became impossible to seal the glass to the head.
  7. I use MACs, outside 100% sunny San Diego. On my second one in 12 years or so and still going strong. Half the cost of Bruce’s
  8. Okay I see it
  9. Does it attach to door or fuselage?
  10. For the rest of us without a light, a motion sensing usb chargeable puck light works great
  11. The connection is indirect through springs in the belly. Remove belly panel at first third of wing chord and it’ll make sense.
  12. No experience with the inflatables, sure would be nice to find something as simple and effective as the original
  13. The concern is very real with me after being brought down by a damaged muffler descending west into San Diego. I did make a runway but preparing to set down on a mountain highway for 20 minutes was extremely stressful. That followed a loud start up backfire in Yuma az.
  14. I tap mine. Seems to make bar easier though mid stroke.
  15. I’m adding this to reoccurring happy dreams
  16. It’s not difficult to verify the nose gear set point if for nothing but piece of mind. Perhaps it’s been through an aggressive attempt at mitigating Mr Toads wild ride. Trim & cg most likely but it’s always good to know.
  17. Have you read the STC? Wondering if there’s something related to removing the eye? I get that not many remove it but it’s part of preflight as outlined in the POH edit: I should have read other responses before commenting
  18. Plumbers tape (Teflon) doesn’t fair well with straight threads as it won’t capture and compress the tape. The oe threads are 5/16-18, then after they get worn or damaged, the holes get re-threaded to 3/8-16 and larger tie down rings go in. If yours are 3/8, Heli-coil back to 5/15” (Lasar bolt size) kind of works but not perfect then use fuel tank access panel sealant on the lasar bolt threads, between the jack points ,tie eyes and wing skin. All this seems kind of strange having fuel above the tie down eye since the poh says to remove tie down eyes before flight.
  19. That’s an io-360 core value and everything else is profit if dismantled. Going to take some work either way but just maybe it has good bones for a resurrection, hope so anyway. I like to see others take a chance like I did with mine, good times.
  20. Okay who’s the big winner @19,590.00? I hope someone in the group
  21. It seems to be in a low corrosion environment
