  1. I used 3/8” closed cell vinyl-nitride foam from Spruce. Self adhesive and placed it over small pieces of dyna-mat. Insulates and reduces most all cabin skin upper frequency vibration. Lowers cabin noise substantially
  2. Well, Did your student complete his flight review successfully?
  3. Caution , that will allow the right mag to fire advanced and at low rpm. Damaging kick backs occur.
  4. I would suggest getting the nose wheel on a turntable ( two steel plates with grease or bead blasting media between them works) and attempt to recreate the symptoms with an assistant observer.
  5. Agreed, inactive aircraft tied outside suffer from Brinelling brought on by any airframe movement causes, even percussion from the environment.
  6. If you’re still dealing with this, you know the out of position it is so fly it, adjust it and fly again. Could be nothing. May be compensating with the rudder tab and not know it. You can always put it back out of position.
  7. Inspect the torque tube assembly to chassis hardware, found mine loose causing pedal/ steering free play .
  8. Over priced, of course
  9. Throw a large bag of dog food in luggage area , that’ll wake up that pup.
  10. The cable only moves the small valve control lever on the side of the pump. Everything else is rod / jack shaft and return springs.
  11. Somewhat depressing to hear, that iconic look first begs attention to the vintage m20 then as one approaches the wings become a true focal point. It’s your choice of course but you do have a rare condition early Mooney.
  12. It starts to break down after about yr 7 but I’m outside 24/7 in SoCal sun. ( Sunbrella)
  13. I received a pair of suggested Kevlar socks yesterday. They’re now my go to protection for reaching into cut/scratch prone areas but not really suitable for MLG rat socks because of high permeability and water retention. These are just my opinions and may work for others. At the moment I’m looking into seat upholstery used in fire trucks. Most automotive upholstery shops look at me cross eyed but the search goes on.
  14. The image doesn’t look too bad. Another option is scrub with gray scotch-brite & di water then spray 2k clear. If you’re in a hanger it’s probably not as important having a closed uv & moisture resistant surface. Mine was way worse than yours, so much so I couldn’t keep dirt and moisture out of it no matter how much elbow grease I spread on it. It’d be good for a few weeks at a time but tied outside takes its toll.
  15. If you’re a few years from a complete paint, you could always do a sand and shoot on the top side only with a 2k single stage. Not anywhere near labor intensive and still provides a smooth easy clean uniform color surface.
  16. I’m also looking for materials for this. The original I removed was glue & fiber taped to the inside wall and tube. It was approximately 11” tall with a split small end like tails and twisted onto the tube then taped with same tape (originally used everywhere). It’s taped in such a manner that allows the small end to fold inside itself towards the gear well but not reach the rod pass through hole. The material was impermeable, flexible and thin <(0.020”), coated type of canvas but would not burn . I’m providing this information with hopes of someone knowing what material was used besides providing dimensional information for your project. Thin & flexible seems to be desirable for non binding / bunching in that area along with low moisture retention. Sorry, I get a little carried away trying to get close to original. Probably not necessary with all the other good ideas others are using.
  17. Maybe they added armor plating to the belly
  18. I hope this platform isn’t torn apart like other aviation platforms are over this subject.
  19. Impressive, I thought that I had the only panel with Terra push (many times) button select nav/comm.
  20. Is your retract assist spring (#22) anchor bracket still intact? They have a tendency to pull corroded rivet heads off.
  21. Cutting 0.3” off the end of p/n 510013 can be done in place of p/n 510046-000, however, this modification is only applicable through m20B models and not beyond. I’ve contacted Mooney about this and no reason other than it’s not listed in later service bulletins. I believe there may be more early “C”s running around with modified xxxx13 brackets than with xxxx46-000. If your larger dia. Disc top plate clearance is good then it works.
  22. Curious what change made up that much difference in truss position?
  23. Interesting, Is this a corrosion repair or failed structural issue?
  24. Have you verified any left vs right parts have not been interchanged?
