  1. Here's your homework assignment. What is the difference between a Chaparral and an Executive? This is know your vintage Mooney's 101 stuff.... Not a Mooniac if you don't know OR don't care...
  2. Ask and you shall receive. A Super 21 is an E model short body 200HP fuel injected. A Statesman is a G Model medium body with a 180HP (carb) engine. See, that wasn't so hard...
  3. Answer: Crazy risk takers that want to fly slow
  4. As Pee Wee used to say "I know you are but what am I"....Ha Ha.... and "There's no basement in the Alamo"?!!!!!!
  5. I also like the idea of flying the plane with a commitment to purchase at end of year that is voided with a significant engine surprise before year end. A great opportunity to learn the plane and systems and make an informed decision. I wish I would have had this market and the wise counsel available on this site. You should be able to read all the pro's and con's (old posts) by end of year and be an "expert". Have fun!
  6. I feel like an owner can do anthing he/she wants with his/her plane...That said, I also feel they should have zero expectation of selling a plane for $10 grand that will likely require a $30 grand infusion to get it airworthy and reliable when it is only going to be worth $35 grand to the next buyer...Is what it is. No "barn find" Mooney's that are worth big bucks for the "investment" of time and money. You have to have a love of ownership to step into the bottomless money sucking pit that is Mooney ownership. I did/do... It's a broken record. If it has not flown regularly expect to be paying for a major overhaul. Get a pre-buy and ensure that tubes, spar, wings an fuselage have no serious corrosion issues. If tanks seap deduct for a re-seal. If radio's and avionics are old...plan for one to die at a bad time...like popcorn. Plan on $1500 for insurance and $1500-5grand for annuals....Here that sucking sound? That is your cash. Worth it? Yes, if you love Mooney's. I did/do. More fun with a partner or partners to share the pain...I mean passion with...
  7. Especially if you were/are that sucker...
  8. Has always had a 3-blade prop. I value the climb performance. Three blade props are heavier, more expensive to repair/service and slightly slower in cruise...If you are replacing go with a two-blade....BUT not all 3-blade props leak and are high vibe. Just balancing out the 3-blade haters that speak of absolutes...Not so much for my experience with a 3-blade McCauley prop. Form follows function=2-blade on an IO-360.
  9. B3D36C424/745A McCauley hanging on my bird since '05. 700+ Hours Later I have lost no fillings and all is well with regard to the flow of any oil or grease red or otherwise... I love my prop on my IO360A1A. It is not slow. It's a Mooney.
  10. Faster! You do know this is a Mooney, right? You fly like a... Or.... "O.K. mouse whose laughing now"!
  11. Somebody is pretty quick on the prank...Too bad, could of been pretty entertaining...
  12. Ebay. A lot of time looking. There is a reason rich people are rich...in my experiences with rich people...It is not from "giving stuff away". Deals are out there.
  13. His nickname needs to be shredder
  14. Great photos thanks for sharing. I get the importance of precision flying for military and airshows. What is the risk-reward for a private pilot flying their aircraft in tight formation with multiple aircraft?
  15. Opinions are like @$$holes...Everybody has got 'em. My opinion is that the Insight products are excellent. The G3 is compact, but readable. It fits great left of the eight pack. Right in your primary scan. Mine has detected no lightning, but has been 100% trouble free since installation years ago...
  16. A four probe cylinder temp and exhaust gas monitor is NOT optional in the 21st century. If you are flying a Mooney...Get one. Like yesterday. I bought a used insight GEM years ago for $200 bucks with probes...
  17. Here is my comment: I LOVE IT...I WANT ONE. Really pleased this is coming to fruition. Will this be metal or fiberglass?
  18. QUOTA REACHED FOR DAY: LIKE...
  19. congrats. A LOT of plane for the money! Good job.
  20. Sump your tanks. Telll them you want __ in left and __ in right tank. KNOW what you are taking on for fuel.
  21. When is violence necessary? -When you are thrown off a roof and killed for being gay -When you are beaten to death by a crowd for allegedly burning a book -When you are be-headed based on your religion -When you are burned to death for being a combat pilot captured by the enemy -When someone enters your home and aggresses toward you or a family member -When you are in a position to enforce the law and someone attempts to use a weapon to attack you -When someone uses a vehicle as a weapon -When someone attempts to curb you -When someone resists arrest -When someone fails to follow the instructions of an officer of the law -When a country tells you they will wipe you from the face of the earth -When someone attempts to sexually assault you -When someone attempts to steal your possessions -When someone riots and damages property of others -When someone kidnaps/holds hostages/individuals against their will -When someone assaults you/battery...physically strikes you threatens you with a deadly weapon-knife, gun, baseball bat, machete, samauri sword, chainsaw, pipe, board etc...
  22. Biting irony. Wow, maybe the list of disqualifications needs to include depression and loss of girlfriend? Maybe like the new VW CC replacement that chooses roads and routes based on your "mood" there will be a biometric hook-up that whispers to your fellow cabin crew member saying "Hey, dude your friend is about to freak out and kill everyone"...."might want to phone a friend and get out the 9mm from its cabinet". Brave New World. Big Brother WILL be watching....Cameras? That is so 20th century....We are gonna hook you up. Open wide. "How does that make you feel"? Really....scribble, scribble data bank entry. Red mark on "who you are" duly noted.
  23. Is this the Mooney porn I have been hearing about, or is that the photo of the round inlet nose cowl. Now THAT will get those Johnson Bars swinging fast and often. MEOW...
  24. Clearly he meant knots as he had writteb previously in the post...
