  1. AND anyone that could have and should have stopped the event on the ground...
  2. The only one I am judging is the pilot that attempted flight with an overloaded cabin and an overloaded baggage area used as a seat...
  3. I got it... Funny Ha Ha. Others reaction? Funny strange.
  4. I think the pilot saw too many episodes of The Dukes of Hazard. After all, The General Lee took a lick'n and kept on trumpeting "If I were in the land of cotton" on it's horn... Just a monumental goober. They are everywhere. Try not to raise one. Do you think that any real pilot that has a brain attempted to intervene? The "riders" assume that the pilot knows...In this case if someone...anyone observing this idiotic action could have educated them of their potential end...at least then they went to their fate knowing.
  5. You are correct. Nobody's Airframe log from 1-15 annual: Cleaned main fuel strainer...
  6. Yes, A machine failure and off airport landing can happen to anyone. The difference between outcomes has a tremendous amount to do with the reaction the pilot in command has to the emergency. His/Her decision making. Getting the plane down at the slowest speed. Not stalling. Flying the plane until it is down. In my book, great job. I just watched a video showing semi after semi plowing into the backs of other semi's on a limited visibility snowstorm. Accidents? Yes. Decisionmaking opportunities to prevent? Definitely? Sometimes Fate is the Hunter...
  7. I will attach when I receive Hank.
  8. Thanks. Yes, I tried to do a search for that thread and couldn't locate it. I have been searching for one after seeing that thread. I little vintage leather to go with my vintage plane. Or perhaps just a re-make of same?
  9. Thanks Andy....
  10. Here are aviation nuggets I have learned: 1. Aviation and alcohol do not mix. If you are under the influence stay away from airplanes... 2. Flying airplanes that are overloaded may be hazardous to your and others health. Don't fly or be a passenger in an overloaded plane. 3. People are often ignorant. Alcohol magnifies this....
  11. Sorry to hear of your experience George. I have individual EI gauges in my panel and they have "just worked" since install a few years ago. Thanks for taking the blows for the team. That is a lousy "fine print" SNAFU. THAT alone would make me a non-lover of EI. Caveat Emptor...
  12. Put yourself in his shoes: 1. He knows he is working with a "nice" guy that has already paid for work completed... 2. He probably has other work that he and shop are turning on a quick timeframe basis... 3. If you gave him no timeframe...set no expectation for completion date...all is well (in his mind) Set a timeframe. Clearly Communicate your dissatisfaction with time to complete. Establish consequence in writing for not "hitting the timeframe". Make it "Not shame on you"... Hope you are up in the air soon. Properly sealed tanks are a beautiful thing.
  13. Always wanted one of those vintage Mooney leather key fobs. Got one on Ebay last night. Has leather embossed with Vintage Mooney Logo and "drop in mailbox if found" Kerrville, TX. Pretty cool. In great condition. Looking forward to receiving it. History? Were these sold with the planes back in the day? Anyone know when they stopped? I need to find an ABC leather kit so I can stamp my N-Number.
  14. Anybody else "feel" the disappointment in the voice of the guy? "You are going to see your first crash"... Wonder if he loves to go where they only turn left?...and snowstorms?
  15. Glad no fire. Could have been a horrible tragedy. Hope all recover and the facts are a good learning experience. Write-up on sale says "sat a couple years"...What's a decade among friends...
  16. Been there, done that (flap system overhaul). It is a beautiful simple system when functioning well. When not (brakes and flaps) it is a nagging pain in the rear.
  17. Funny. Obviously you all think I am not correct. Which I probably am not...BUT after lowering flaps to landing (on final-four pumps)I have to roll significant trim. (to neutralize force on yoke) Now I am wondering am I rolling nose down (away from me) or nose up (towards me). It is not a conscious thing...I just respond to the nose
  18. The bladders, ferry tank and flying someone in are all good ideas, but if you are like me the idea of paying more for something you already agreed upon makes you want to scream...and they are expensive options that you likely have not budgeted for. Camping out front and offering...no, make that insisting that the plane is done in ___days an you will be on site supervising work sounds like a good plan. Just not sure if I would want that individual in and around my plane at this point. The emoticon is you right now and someone else NOT YOU is holding the gun to your head. Not smiling, not crying ^%$&ing enraged. Your emoticon should be the Hulk. You and your aircraft are being held hostage. Did you agree on a time-frame to complete? I hope the answer is yes although any reasonable person would argue that this is absurd. Good luck.
  19. Wow...THAT was something. Must really not like that fields mechanic.
  20. Not sure why the emoticon is smiling... Just say'n
  21. Do you have a contract? Anything like an e-mail before work began discussing cost and timeframe? If yes let him know you are serious about getting your plane back...Since he has had it for five months and you are just "getting to the point of being concerned"...I am not sure he will believe you really want it back. You would not like my advise. Good luck with getting your plane back, repaired properly, soon. I hope it works out.
  22. When I lower flaps I have to roll at least 2.5 of forward roll on trim wheel to bring nose DOWN...
  23. 95% of putts that don't make it to the hole don't go in...
