  1. Yeah, but I like it warm, already have had enough of this cold weather for this year... looking forward to spring and all summer long flying...
  2. Wow, I would really like to see those pictues, as I understand following my email conversation with Airtex, they only provide carpeting, not replacement plastic side walls or headliners, right ???
  3. Erik, I hope you don't mind if we don't join you in your Antarctica experiment, but I would love to see the video after, providing the video, plane and pilot make's it back... lol
  4. I check on Plane Plastics site, the only thing I see is for the J model, nothing else in Mooney, I will give them a call...
  5. I have searched the forums and I'm trying to put together a list of companies that can fabricate interior side panels and roofing for my M20K to get pricing from. One of my main projects for my plane in 2015 is hopefully to redo the interior sidewalls and roofing, I can still live with the seats and carpets, although they are in mint 1979 condition (ya right), but the sidewalls with the ashtray is just ugly and the plastic roofing and sidewalls have some cracks in it. My co-owner and I are not do it yourself kind of guys, at best I can help a mechanic with the installation work, but then again, I have to takeoff from work. So I'm looking for reputable businesses to buy pre-made to measure sidewalls and roofing and have them ship to my mechanic in an almost turnkey solution type. I don't mind a bit of fitting, but the certification process should be easy, not looking for a home made stuff and then fight with Transport Canada on getting it approved... Here are the companies I have found trough search here and Google, for those who have had dealings with these companies, which ones would you recommend or advise to stay away from, any informed opinion is appreciated, if I missed any other companies, please tell me. AeroComfort : Seems very nice on their websites and pictures, a bit pricey. JaegerAviation : seems nice as well, not sure of the quality and how much work to install. Airtex Interiors : Looks like more of a DIY kind of job, is that so ? MooneyMart : Not sure how professional the workmanship is, don't know much about them. Any advice would be greatly appreciated... Thanks !
  6. wow, that is cheap if it works, bought one last year from a guy on the beech forum and it works great, I paid a bit more though... It is really nice to have that extra seconds of knowing where the traffic is around you... Well worth it, too bad the company making them went broke...
  7. Well, I kind of know your pain, before buying a partnership in my Rocket, I had several potential deals that fell trough for many many reasons. I think the best advice I got in buying a plane, is don't fall in love with one before it is yours. Be always ready to walk away is something is fishy. I agree with previous comments as to the PPI, the whole verbal thing is probably very annoying and taking away from the joy and sense of accomplishement of buying a plane (not everyone can do that), but once your deal is done with the guy and all goes well, you will never have to deal with him again. But from what you have described, if I really wanted the plane, I would take a ride to his location and have the PPI done there using your guy (never his guy) and at that point, it is much easier to either walk away or just fly the plane back home with an CFII... It is a bit more cost for you to start up with, but probably easier to walk away from if the PPI is not to your satisfaction... just my 2c of opinion..
  8. I would think the landing light would be the 1st one I would do, have heard it lights up the runway for those late night landing after a long trip.
  9. wow, beautifull, I'm guessing the GTN 750 directs the Aspen HSI that talks to the AutoPilot, so you get fully automated navigation based auto-pilot, right ???
  10. Not sure about doing avionics in the states, it has to be a shop or installer that is Transport Canada certified I think, not sure... and also with the exchange rate right now, it might not be so much cheaper...
  11. Erik, let me know how it goes, and what it ends costing you, I'm looking to go from an EDM 700 to a 900 as primary or 930. Thanks !!!
  12. Erik, is that why they call it a Rocket ? lol, it just climbs and climbs... Thanks for your post, I might fly this Sunday if weather is nice, I will use your advise as to not over stress the engine...
  13. Well I agree with you Hank, but the ones that are occuring soon are way too far for me to be practicable with my work schedule, cost and weather problems specially with icing. I mean flying from Northern East coast to Florida or California is a bit much, so I guess I will wait till it comes closer in June or September.
  14. Hi, I'm about to pull the trigger and sign on for a MAPA safety foundation 3 days seminar, and I was hoping to get some comments from people here that have done it before. Right now I'm looking at either the June in Chattanooga TN, or September seminar in Atlantic City NJ, Atlantic City is much closer to me but I have been there, so I'm more leaning to TN since I have never been there. My questions are, what do you really get out of it, what is the general appreciation of those who have done it before. I'm looking at about 2K of expenses including the seminar, fuel and Engine time to get my Rocket there and back ( 4h to 5h flight time with stop in KPIT probably for fuel and customs and another 4h to 5h back home), hotel, meals and else. So I want to make sure it is really worth it. I'm an almost 200h pilot, about 40h in the Rocket, in the process of doing my IR and want to be as secure, knowledgably and capable as I can. Thanks ! P.S. Does anyone know if Transport Canada would count it as training, since I think the FAA does according to the registration page in MAPA magazine. Thanks !
  15. happy new years to all mooniacs, and please no fat chick pictures, just had dinner and I would like to keep it in...
  16. Hi, I got your images, thanks very much, I will try to the LOP more on my flight back from KLDJ to CYMX that should take me almost 2h, so plenty of time to try it... I was doing my 1st try @ 7500, since I don't like to use O2 when I fly with my 8 year old son alone, So, I know now how to do LOP on my EDM 700, and I guess I shoud'nt worry when my TIT goes up, I should continue to lean it more till TIT drops below 1625... I usually try to not run my TIT over 1600, even less than 1550, I had read somewhere that running it hot too long will drastically shorten the Turbo TBO time and that running it under 1550 was well advisable... Thanks for any input...
  17. Sorry for the miss-spell, in french your name is written with a C at the end... and yes it is fun to go that fast, I got hooked on the performance of the Rocket since the 1st time I tried it... It is a hell of a machine...
  18. Hi Erik, I love the speed as well, my wallet loves it a bit less, but made KBTV to KLDJ in 1h19 minutes of air time, with an average GS of near 200 Kts runing ROP and wanted to get there before sunset. When you say deep LOP, do you mean you continue to leaning after all 6 cylenders are indicated as lean on the EDM ? Not sure I understand exactly what you mean...
  19. Hi, Just flow today from Montreal to New York and staying at KLDJ (Linden), during the flight I tried running LOP with my EDM 700 ( My Fuel Flow is beside on a Hoskins FT101 ). The LOP went well on all cylenders and with the GAMI injector, my GAMI spread is about .7 GPH, so pretty good, all CHT's are well below 400 an EGT's are in the 1400 to 1500 and it's not long from 1st cylender to 6th cylender showing lean on the EDM 700, but not long after LOP is attained my TIT goes up fast and gets over the 1650 limit, when the overheat light went on, I went back to rich... What am I doing wrong or is this normal, should I have leaned it more or what ??? Thanks !!!
  20. Nice, curious about your fuel burn rate, I don't think I could do that direct in my Rocket, it might go faster, but burns much more fuel...
  21. Erik, if the weather improves on the weekend, I was going to fly to the states, maybe if you are free I can drop by and have a coffee and talk Rockets !!!! if not, then another time !!!
  22. Good luck in your check ride Erik, hope the weather improves for your flight...
  23. Well, I thought I would be flying every chance I get during the holidays, that has been exactly 0 till now, freaking f... crappy weather, everything from fog to completely covered for days on end, and when there is a hint of sunshine, the cross winds are like 25 to 34 kts, it has been like this since Friday afternoon when I finally got on vacation. Sorry, had to vent a bit... back to my IFR ground course reading materials and some eggnog...
  24. Here here !!! Would like to see the performance specs on that !!! Must cost him a fortune in gas !!!
