  1. Empty is 2294.6 lbs, 2900 limit upped to 3200 with fuel, so that means 905 with fuel. The lost of empty weight is well worth it comparing to the beast that you get with the new engine !
  2. Yep, got masks and SPO2 for everyone on board, pilots will wear a model with alarms that go off under 80%
  3. Thanks for the comments, the 3rd person im the back seat will have several tasks, 1st : providing logistics for O2 and emergency O2, also to film some or as much as possible and take pictures for the learning experience and 3rd would be to have a 3rd set of eyes on everything, the 2 pilots in front will be to pilot only and check SPO2 levels, not having to deal with O2 connections, camera or else... Thanks for the temp information charlie, I will try that if my EDM indicated that my CHT, EGT or TIT is going too high...
  4. That is actually a good suggestion, although I have checked the W & B and all is good, since all 3 people are less than 180 lbs each and no ludgage. I plan to go with about 50g of fuel and plan to fly for a max of 1 hour just to make it up there. The Rocket is actually a great climber, I'm always impressed with it's climb capabilities, I had tried this once before couple of weeks ago with the same 3 guys and we were up to FL180 very quickly before being denied by ATC because of some restrictions in the zone we were flying...
  5. Planning to climb to FL240 with the Rocket next weekend with a friend instructor filing IFR and a 3rd pilot in the back seat to check us both. To those Rocket owners or other turbo Mooneys that have tried it, any heads-up or anything in particular. Will be flying with portable O2, oxymeters, and emergency O2 tank. We are doing this just because, I have been up to almost FL180 with Rocket, but hoping to be able to go to the celing of my aircraft... Thanks !!!
  6. was that pilot error by retracting the landing gear or was it the landing gear collapsing because of a failure. I have never landed or taken off from a grass field with the rocket, and don't intend to ever do that, but just wondering.
  7. Prop Strike, bring out the $$$ for engine tear down and complete gear and wing inspection...
  8. Well not sure about the 231 or 252 usefull load, but with the Rocket conversion, you get a useful load of 2900 for the cabin and 3200 for the plane, meaning anything over 2900 lbs has to be fuel in the wings, so that means 300 lbs or 50gal of fuel dos'nt directly count against your in cabin weight limit. I have flown mine near 3200, not much difference in cold days at my local airport, not sure on hot days in altitude, but the Rocket climbs like a rocket... It does cost more fuel, but you get there faster and use less engine time.
  9. I have a Rocket and excatly the same setup as you and never ran into this issue. Personally I would be very reluctant to make a whole or nick the ring and get wather into the fuel. How hi do you fly, I have flown up to fl160 and never had this...
  10. Interested and planning a visit to KFFA this summer, please keep me advised as to the timing for this. Thanks !
  11. In the description of the engine it says TSIO-360-LB Turbocharged, I tought the Rocket modification done by RocketEngineering used TSIO520-NB for this modification, am I not reading this right ??? No where on the actual Ebay listing does it say Rocket... So could it be the 231 Turbocharged, but not from RocketEngineering... Just wondering, because at that price, it would be near what I paid for 50% of my Rocket, mind you mine had 150h use SMOH. Thanks !
  12. Wow, I ordred my carpet from Airtex last week, they told me it will take 3 weeks to get it ready, but that it will arrive before mid April when I'm scheduled to to the work, but today I learned that it has arrived. /cheap bastard on : Nice surprise to get it so fast, a bit less nice surprise that they shipped it 2 days delivery and it ended costing me about 110$ for shipping and customs. If it was going to be ready this soon, I wouldn't had to ask for expedited shipping... /cheap bastard off Oh well...
  13. Were these from SCS ? I wonder if I can cancel with Aerotex and go with SCS...
  14. wow, that is almost the same price as I paid at aerotex and their time is 3 weeks turn around. I willl give the guys a call tomorrow and see if I can cancel the other. Thanks for the info.
  15. I just ordered my carpet from Aerotex, I was wondering how much SCS would cost for a K model and what is their turn around time ? Thanks !!!

    St-Lawrence Mooney meet

3 Mooneys meet up in Gatineau for lunch and Mooney talk...
  17. That is if I go to max cruise... but the Rocket is a thirsty bird...
  18. Yeah, I actually had a discussion with a pilot that I did'nt know about his plane speed/fuel consumtion comparing to mine. He was proud to say that he only burns about 6 to 8 gph, and then speed wise, well near 100 ( not a mooney, forgot what it was ). I kind of laughed inside. Do I really want to fly 4 hours for a flight I can make in about 1h30, even though I would burn 22gph... When I brought up the engine time and TBO and all, he kind of not sure of himself anymore... I guess that is fine if you are wanting to build up your logged time, but I don't care about that, I want to get somewhere with the plane..
  19. Nice... Good luck with it, I hope you will do a pre-purchase inspection...
