  2. Thanks, I'm installing the spatial interior so no more carpet on the side walls, carpet just on the floors. I like the idea of having it hold in place with the sidewall panels. Thanks for the advice.

  4. Never mind, Airtextinterior told me to get 3M Neoprene Adhesive 1300 for the job... Sorry for the noise, I tought I needed something aviation grade...
  5. My fuel flow was at around 29 I think at takeoff, I climbed full rich, never leaned it during climb, and all my cylenders were just fine beside #6. Wondering if it is going bad on me, since at last annual (when I bought the plane), it had the lowest compression, it was 68/80, but according to the mecanic still in good condition. The engine has 200 hours on it, so a bit surprised that it would go bad this fast.
  6. Wondering if one really needs to glue the carpet. I'm redoing the interior and removed the old carpet, not much of it was glued, maybe the fact that it was 30 years old and the glue was dried. If so, what kind of glue, do I need to buy it from Airtextinterior where I bought the carpet ?

  8. Well my attempt to go to FL240 was stopped by a freaking CHT going very high. I have #6 going always a good number of degrees hotter, but this time, it got as hot as 425, even if we decided to climb at about 500 ft/min, all other temps on other cylinders were very normal, in ther 350 range. I guess I got a problem with number 6....

I did a bit the same, after getting my PPL, I rented a Sundowner for a year and did about 75h on it, it was an easy plane to get use to for low wings, but it's not slippery like the Mooney and dosn't float as much. I would say you will love the mooney, but make sure you get a Mooney comfortable transition pilot as for sure your insurance will require it. Mine asked for 15h duo and 10h solo on the Rocket, but the Rocket is a beast of a plane, so if you go with a C or E model, the transition is easier. Enjoy the ride, everything else will look slower.

  13. Well I did the same when I got into my partnership. There will be 2 that are going to pay for issues, but still, you don't want to fall on someone else's problems, one who is looking to share his nightmare if there is seriously something wrong with the plane. That would make for a very bad start of a partnership. I woulld say at least to the following : 1 : Make sure aircraft is not out of annual. 2 : Have a visual inspection, if you don't like what you see, walk away, if you do, go to #3. 3 : Review all the log files, and again, walk away if there are serious stuff. 4 : Do a PPI with the mechanic you have choosen, tell him to give you all the reasons why you should'nt get into this venture, don't let you or him fall in love with the aircraft. 5 : Make sure you can talk and get a good feel from your future partner, ask around the airport what kind of person and pilot he is. 6 : Get a purchase agreement that is reviewed by a lawyer, the couple hundered dollars of costs can save you plenty later. 7 : Make sure to have a signed partner agreement, for engine overhaul costs, repairs, what is permitted or not to both partner, how insurance will be paid and all...   14. I'm very interested and the location is only about 2h away in the rocket, but to be completely honest, I'm a bit uneasy about it. I have about 200h of flght time with 50 of those in my Mooney Rocket. I got my PPL and night rating an in the process of doing my IFR, but till now just working on the written exam, will start the IFR flight training in a month or 2. So the question is, am I too green to do something like this even with an experienced formation training pilot with me, since there is no way I would do this alone. Just wondering out-loud for my safety and those my future formation pilots friends.
  15. yeah I agree with parker, we will prep the O2 and all the masks and all before take off, then during Autopilot climb, the 3rd person can turn on the O2 as we climb, plan is to have everything set up and be on the masks before climbing from 10K upwords. We are planning to do somewhat of an escalator climb, with different plateaux as the engine cooling would require it.

Yeah, we are going that high just for the bragging rights, the other 2 people on the flight both have many more hours of flight than me and one is a CFI, but they have never been that high ( School's C172 for sure not, even with school twin Aztec, it is not certified or flight school doesn't permit above 16000 I believe ). so we are doing this entirely for shits and giggles... Once back on the ground, we are stripping the interior for my big redo project, so one last flight with the 1979 interior

Yeah, for now planning a 240 NM direct to east to see if I can get a speed over 300 kts GS, and then turn back into the wind for a slower descent and since I will have then a big headwind, I will have to keep the engine running high enough to keep up the temps and speed while descending at about 500 pfm... But since I don't have my IFR rating, it will be my friend CFI that will be the PIC, so will see how he sees it, maybe there are better ways ?
