  1. Erik, I really enjoyed reading your post, I just bought a 305 Rocket as well, can't wait to fly it after the importation is done. I tried the bird out, even at 5000 feet, I was at about 170 kts climbing more than 1K FPM, quite impressive after flying C172 and C23 Beachcraft sundonwer... Thanks for putting a smile on my face
  2. Bonjour Yves, I sent you an email. Thanks !!!
  3. Thanks Mike, I don't know about new, well it's newer than me, being a 1979 lol...
  4. I wonder if there was a way to film the whole event with a hidden camera and if so, would have been legal. Since sometimes people overstep their authority just to make a showing.
  5. Thanks, I'm not a member of MAPA yet, but I will look into it... The plane is already here, just needs to go trough the importation process. If anyone knows a qualified pilot, it would be great !
  6. Hi, I had a very good recommendation for my pre-purchase mechanic here, so I'm hoping I can again use the collective wisdom of this forum to find a local trainer when my aircraft will be ready for me to fly in. I'm a low time pilot ( 150h ), got my licence on the flight school old c172's, and since, 50h hours on a Beech sundowner where I do about 115 kias. Insurance is asking me for a 15h instructor training and 10h solo, I thought I combine that with my IFR training, I have my night rating instructor that can give me the IFR training, but I'm looking for someone to give me at least 5h specific to the Mooney, especially with the 305 Rocket converted engine and turbocharge operations that I have to take care of... The training will take place from the Mascouche Airport ( CSK3 ), so hopefully someone that is not too far away would be great. Thanks !
  7. Hi, Trying to test fly the M20K I'm looknig to buy, but plane has been in a hangar for 5 months without being flown, so battery is dead. I think the battry is in the back of the fuselage, but wondering beside a normal car battery charger, what would one do to charge the battery. The local AME want's to replace the battery, but I think just a recharge should be fine... any advice is welcomed.
  8. Thanks David, that's aswome... Have a great weekend flying !
  9. Hi, I'm looking for a pdf version of a POH for M20K Rocket converted, any year, but ideally near 1979 would be amazing. Thanks !!!
  10. Merci M. Grenier, je vais le contacter !!!
  11. I have contacted the reference here, he seems very competent, but scheduling might be a problem, does anyone knows someone else that can help here ?
  12. Hi, I'm looking into buying a 1979 Mooney M20K and need a certified mechanic to do a pre-purchase inspection. It has gone trough the 305 rocket conversion and ideally I'm looking for someone with some Mooney Experience with these type of engines. The plane is located in Montreal Canada, if there is a mechanic with the experience but not local, I can arrange for travel. Thanks !
  13. Sorry for the repost, I think the 1st post was in the wrong forum !!! Hi, I'm in the process of evaluating and buying in a partnership of the following plane, any advice or constructive opinions would be welcomed, this would be my first Mooney, I pilot a slow Beech for now I'm also looking to get an idea of how much you think it is worth, and what would be the normal operational costs, Annual, MOH and else... What would really be great is also to have a general idea of the range of what the normal cost per hour would be ( including all the maintenance ) Thanks !!! 15. In any case, I would recommand you getting a ZAGG ipad case with keyboard, my Ipad has fallen many many time from the car's trunk directly on the cement and the case is pretty banged up, but the IPAD is fine. Also, it's well worth getting the Apple Care, since I think they will replace the Ipad free of charge once or twice in a 3 year term... Well worth the 100$...
  16. Hi, I guess I will be looking for another money, one without the PFM engine... Thanks for all the opinions...
  17. Hi, I'm new to the Mooney world, right now, I fly a Beech but looking very seriously to buy a Mooney. The one that I'm looking at is a 1987 Porche M20L model. I have read alot about this engin and most reviews are not favorable, and from my research, it's production did not last long. Does anyone have any comments about this model, should I even venture in buying a Mooney if it`s not a Lycoming or Continental engine in it... Thanks very much for any advice !!!
