  1. I have had similar symptoms and resolved by three things all of which are relatively quick and easy 1) as other have said clean the connection on the master switch 2) remove and disassemble the master switch. Take note when you take the switch apart so you can get the parts back together correctly. There are little springs and other pieces in there. You can have carbon buildup on the contacts inside of the switch. If so clean or replace the switch. 3) disconnect your battery, clean the terminals, and connectors and reattach. good luck.
  2. I emailed TruTrak about this 700’ claim and they said it is not true. Also they advised to look for an announcement at snf
  3. I have flown into KISM numerous times, mostly VFR. It was not hard to keep and descend just west of the bravo headed southbound and then turn east after you pass the disney TFR. I depart the same way, headed west easy to stay under the class B which is quickly 4,000 and up. I have used the Kissimmee jet center for every visit and recommend them. It is not a fancy place but affordable, helpful, and easy. Uber and lyft are readily available if you want to keep from renting a car.
  4. is it fair to compare a worn down old prop to a brand new one?
  5. anyone have recommendations for king autopilot repair near Georgia? I have a similar oscillation on my KAP100 / KI256, but roll rather than pitch.
  6. call David Gardner at Rendrag Aviation in Thomaston, GA. He did a great job with my recent upgrade and other avionics work. http://www.rendragaviation.com
  7. According to Don Maxwell these are 130285-003 and about $43 each from mooney.
  8. along with the bulbs, i lost some of the metal things that hold them in. Does anyone know the part # for the part that screws in to hold the bulb? I couldn't pick it out of the parts manual.
  9. If anyone wants some text, the attached file is what worked for me. rocker switch text 2.psd
  10. I am based at CCO where the flight school involved in this accident is based. I agree that this issue of soft spoken foreign student pilots is a real problem. The Falcon students too often speak softly, quickly, and with strong asian accents. I almost had my own incident caused by not being able to understand the student pilots. Fortunately just before I turned to join the downwind an instructor who was apparently DUAL with one of the students broadcast a position report and clarified their position That position report that I understood just before joining the pattern caused to me to turn away from the airport and avoid a close call. Prior to the instructor speaking, I had no idea where the multiple students in the pattern were located even though they were making unintelligible position reports. I was listening to and interacting on the CTAF at least 10-15 miles from the airport. At least half of the radio transmissions from Falcon students are unintelligible to my ear.
  11. About a year ago I replaced my Garmin 430 with a IFD540. I love the 540. it is easy to use, anticipates your needs, and makes it quicker and easier to enter flightplans. I also gained terrain awareness, obstacles, audio alerts, bluetooth, wifi, and new features keep coming with every release free of charge. I have no regrets at all since moving from Garmin to Avidyne. Avidyne also has a great web forum for customers to discuss the products which is also monitored and interacted by Avidyne employees.
  12. Hello, There may be someone else that you are referring to, but I have only created a model for ETA switches and I have no plans to do further design for klixon. This project came out of a selfish need for my mooney. Sorry.
  13. Hey Wayno, Sorry I have been absent from Mooneyspace. I never tried ordering them in the polished plastic because I have not needed to reorder since completing and installing my first batch back when I started this thread. I have changed the settings at shapeways so that you can order them. My concern is that the polishing process may break some of the walls because they are pretty thin in some areas. If you do try it in the polished material, please report your results back to thread for me and others.
  14. I also competed this job recently and used goof off. It is readily available and worked very well
  15. Yes I have used Precision at FFC for my last 2 annuals and I am happy. They seem to be thorough. Prior to using them I used to go to Cole but changed for various reasons.
  16. You will get what you see when you click the link. That is the ETA version that I started the thread for.
  17. My M20J has a KAP100 autopilot. In HDG, NAV, and APR modes it continuously rolls left and right. As seen on my attitude indicator, it will roll the plane about 3 degrees to the left and then over to about 1 degree right. It will track the proper course but does so by gently rolling back and forth. It takes about 5 seconds to go from one side of the roll to the other. It does this same back and forth rolling regardless if the NAV source is GPS, VOR, or ILS. In wing leveler mode my AI shows about a 1 or 2 degree left roll. My local A&P/Avionics shop can't seem to figure out what is causing this behavior. Any ideas?
  18. The link in the original post is not working. This should take you to the part http://www.shapeways.com/product/YR7FSMMJW/mooney-rocker-switch.cover
  19. You can try the one that I modeled for the ETA style switches in my 87 J. There is another thread in this forum that has more details. I'm not sure if is the same. http://www.shapeways.com/model/1142287/mooney-rocker-switch-cover.html?modelId=1142287&materialId=6
  20. Back when I bought my J, Daytona did my pre-buy, first annual, and some more work along the way. I have always been very happy with their work and only wish that they were closer to me.
  21. HI guys I wanted to answer a couple of your questions. If you order using the material that I recommended, shapeways uses an SLS process which uses a laser to bind a plastic powder together. There is no glue involved in the printing process. Due to the nature of the process the parts will have a somewhat grainy feel to them when you get them. This is why I sanded them down slightly and then applied a coat or two of spray paint primer to further smooth the surface. Also, parts made this way may be somewhat vulnerable to UV exposure. To help protect against the effects of UV and to provide a nice smooth and shiny finished product, I recommend that after priming that you spray a semi-gloss or glossy clear coat. You can buy such a clear coat from a hardware store and in addition to the nice finishing properties it will help protect the part from UV. I fly around 250 hours a year and have had these parts on 4 switches in my plane for over a year with no problems so far. They don't shift or feel weird in any way. In any regard, being able to buy these for $3 each and complete them for little more, if one fails in even a few years then it is a good investment vs. the cost of obtaining original parts. @DaV8or, I primarily used Tinkercad to create the model. I did not do any 3d modeling previously but I do have experience working with cad systems, blueprints, etc. Including learning how to use the software packages it probably took me around 12 hours and 3 iterations of test prints to get to the end design that fit just right. To start I wanted to get the base shape to match exactly. So, I put an original switch sideways on a scanner to get the proper profile. I imported that scan into Tinkercad. From there it just needed to be scaled followed by a lot of careful measuring with calipers and adjustments to the whole design to make it match. To verify the model, I exported it from Tinkercad and then loaded it into netfabb to recheck measurements and to make sure there were no gaps or other errors. I hope to hear that in addition to solving my own problem that this process helps some other mooney owners too.
  22. Based on the photos posted, I would agree that this model is for the ETA version. Sorry I can't help you with the Klixon ones.
  23. Correct. You will need to finish the parts yourself. I found a freely available font that is a near exact match for the original lettering and I used some transparency from and office supply store to laserprint the text and then just glued that on with some clear Loctite crazy glue. Some clear coat spray paint over the top really makes these things come out nice and adds UV protection to boot! I thought about selling these, but since I don't know how widely they will work I am going to just allow others to order them direct from shapeways. I am not marking them up, so the price that you see is shapeways cost. This is also why I am not going to guarantee anything but I do hope that they help the Mooney community. I think that I fixed the site so the price should show up for you now if you go back to the link.
  24. Hello, I noticed that some other folks are having the same frustration that I had with obtaining the plastic covers that go over the Mooney rocker switches (breakers). In my Mooney these switches turn on and off things like the landing light, pitot heat, strobes, nav light, boost pump, etc. It seems that the vendors don't want to offer the covers alone, and buying replacement switches can run over a hundred dollars each. So, to get my switches looking like new I created a 3D model of the switch covers. My airplane is a 1987 M20J. If you have a similar airplane and want to try these, I am making access to the model publicly available. It took a few iterations to get the model just right, but I printed these for about $3 each and they fit snugly and have been working well for about the past year with no issues since installation. I recommend sanding, priming, application of text, and application of a clear coat to make your new switch covers look like new. Some additional details are located at the link provided. This model is being provided without any guarantees, warranty, nor support. So good luck, but if do try it, please send me a note so that I can build a list of the years and models that others have or have not had success with. Here is a link where you can see the model and if you choose to order some prints. I used the white "Strong and Flexible Plastic" option which seems to hold up very well. http://www.shapeways.com/product/YR7FSMMJW/mooney-rocker-switch-cover Regards Karl Gerling
