Don't know about this year but over the past few between 50 and 75 per year not as much as I'd like for shure and with the weather we're having this month seems like I will not be doing much in the near future. See dealing with our addiction. The big bad storm is headed our way and I'm starting to see lots of yellow on my Foreflight.

Still low IFR dealing with it by spending way too much time on Mooney Space

What do mean, I speak fluent English born in the states and those controllers are definitely not speaking English.

Yeah that's govt for sure but I have seen "panel" systems like 430's and my little Garmin 296 gives better information ans its old I guess it gets back to the whole "certified " debate oh well still got 5 years to see what develops

Thanks I always get flight following when on loger trips or when I am going to busy areas. Oakland center is very accommodating and on a few occasions I have been directed for traffic avoidance. I like to fly the VOR's cause it makes for easy positioning updates and if something were to go bad ATC would know right where I am making it easier to provide help. I just wanted to make sure I was not getting in anyone's way. It also is fun cause the controlles are talking and I'm listening getting my handoffs and all that cool pilot stuff.

What I don't understand is why the FAA has such a hard on for panel / permanent installed equipment. If my mode C is not working then I would not be able to enter C or B airspace and would not be able to get flight following services. Portable garmins and I pads with flight apps have as much capacity if not more than units I have seen that are installed in systems. Seems simple enough for ATC to verify your out transmission and have a nice day. We could be compliant for under 1 AMU heck my old flip phone can track my position. It's like they want to update to higher tech but are stuck on an approach that is now 2 or 3 generations ago. As for me I'm holding out for cheaper solutions. When the deadline comes I will get it done at least I won't be pissed that the system I installed in 2015 is now out dated and no longer supported by the manufacturer like my panel mounted Apollo GPS.

This post made me think and here is a ignorant VFR pilot question. on some long XC trips I have planned and flown the Victors using VOR waypoints I am controlled by ATC following am I an interference by doing this?

The lens is a LASAR mod and since I do my annuals there it was put in as part of the work we did.

If only I knew then what I know now, to find ones passion but more importantly ones focus at a young age is truly a gift. So many things I would have done differently not that I'm in a bad place, far from it but if I would have realized that my love of aviation could have been as an active part of my life i would have started much sooner. Again. Congrats on getting your ticket and good luck on your future pursuits

Plenty to do before I would get to the 201 mod and looking at the pics I think i would rather keep the access. Too bad they can't make an easy removal for the glass that would make it best of both.
-
I'm interested in how it looks as to the access to the avionics. Do you have a photo showing the detail of the installation THX

I'll keep this one short watching the evening news and these stupid protestors have shut down major freeways and have vandalized and looted shops even blocked the trains that run through Berkeley. I would bet a weeks pay that if asked most of them would support socialism or some form of communism and I would give you double or nothin that the ones that do vote support Democrats 100%. These people have no idea how good they have it and if they were to do this in many countries around the world they would likely be killed countries like Russia and China . I just don't understand the liberal mind this type of action will do nothing but bring more divisiveness and if the got their wish to have a socialist or communist system the govt that they are protesting would be far far worse This behavior just pisses me off.

I installed the landing light cover during my last annual could not pass up an airplane mod that was under a hundred dollars looks real nice added 20 knots to my top end I mean 30 no 40 He He He.

Got some minor work to do on the interior time,to get withit and do some winter tinkering

As a former C150 owner I liked the rear view but it's really only needed to see who's catching up to overtake as you buzz along at 90 knots or 110 in the 172. It was kind of handy on departure to confirm you were maintaining runway heading as you corrected for cross winds

Clouds still on the deck ARGH! Looking at accuweather the whole month does not look too promising only good thing is we need the rain so I can't complain much. At least I got in a local flight last week.

328 your cowl is the same as mine is the top piece also a LASER part. Nice looking plane you have there by the way. J

And don't get me wrong I have no problem with taxation and appropriation there is a needed role for federal state and local government to do many of the things that we need but it's gotten out of control. EPA FDA DOT FCC FAA all have an important job to do but there is so much redundancy and waist it makes me sick. Servitude is slavery when one becomes dependant on govt they will do anything to survive. Once a society learns it can vote itself a raise then that society is doomed.

I think if an electric car can work for you then that's great what people don't think about is you need to charge it and someone has to generate the electricity. For me the perfect solution is a diesel electric. Not a hybrid run a small generator into a bank of deep cell lead acid batteries to an electric motor that drives the wheels. Same as a train or ship old tech but works great no lithium ion BS simple recyclable batteries. When accelerating or climbing you draw from the batts when cruising or going down hill the batts recover from the generator. Design works great and is so F ing simple. Reason not being done is that people will figure out they get better mileage by driving faster. And don't forget the government produces nothing they just decide how to spend yours and my money. And the big issue I have with the libs is they want to force me to live the way they think is best. EPA is the big stick right now.

Thanks! I'm not sure what the source is on the top cowl I have seen others that have it as well.

No need for all that with global warming, oops I mean climate change that will not be an issue. As soon as we get rid of all that snow and ice up there I can fly up to visit and only need to pack shorts and T shirts.

I must say there are some real nice looking "vintage Mooney's " out there. Keep up the great work guys and gals.

I have read and viewed various studies on the value or net costs vs gains on many of the technology being developed to save the planet. Most show that the added cost both in terms of financial and material that the green tech ends up using more resources than they save. I am also realistic to understand this is new technology and as we get better this will likely change. But power has to come from some where and when every one is driving plug in electric cars and even boats and possibly airplanes (there are even a couple of nice sport bikes that are electric) and at the same time coal is dead fossil fuels being eliminated wind generation under attack from the bird lovers well I'm sorry solar panels won't be enough. For example I'm my job I have many regulatory tariffs that apply to customers that are installing electric service upgrades to their homes to accommodate plug in vehicles and we have to upgrade our distribution system to accommodate the added load an example is Tessla's charging load if the user wants to do a fast charge it draws 17KVA load that's more than 3 medium size homes. That power has to come from somewhere and when you factor in line loss from the point of generation to load it is even greater. If even 25% of the U.S. when to plug in green cars our electric infrastructure would not be able to handle it. Tech will improve efficiency but physics is physics and it takes power to move mass at any given velocity. UTOPIA
