  1. I got a quote on insurance for a 310 once. 13k a year with a commercial, multi, instrument etc etc
  2. my only question is, does the plane you're looking at have brakes on the right? Not a deal breaker but I'd be hesitant to take on a primary student in it personally.
  3. Hmm, maybe that's what they were doing at the school referenced above, but I could swear they did Mei first. Maybe the policy has changed.
  4. I've always thought either would be fun, or gliders. Don't have an in on any of the three around here. The jump planes here are otters and king airs, not the usual ratty 182s so I'm sure a lot of competition and higher requirements.
  5. I started flying a lot more when I got into our Mooney too. 30 hours in June and July, more than I've flown in a year for a lot of years!
  6. that's a bummer. Knew it sounded too good to be true.
  7. Wow, that's very reasonable. Our front foam is shot and the leather cracking. I should do the same.
  8. Had to edit it. My initial thoughts were incorrect.
  9. I actually vaguely remember there being a part 141 program that did multi before cfi and I believe did Mei before cfi. St cloud state iirc.
  10. the converse has been asked repeatedly and it's been answered that a CFI SEL cannot provide an IPC in a multi engine aircraft, so likely the FAA disagrees with me. I would have thought you could provide instrument instruction on a SEL CFI, big brother says no.
  11. Can't say I've met anyone with a multi only cfi, interesting.
  12. I love our 231. Living in the pac nw I would think at least a TKS would be on my short list.
  13. uh, OK then.
  14. Agreed. And you can get a briefing or file a plan about anywhere.
  15. I'd love a 310. I'd hate to put gas in or insure it!
  16. Friend of a friend does corporate flying at a busy no tower here. Their attitude has become bust in the pattern straight in and let everyone move. Anything else they try to do they get cut off and have to break out.
  17. Don't know how. And it's only off by a half gallon an hour or so. (I think...) I sort of know where the inaccuracies are in my gauges, so I generally run the left tank down to a point and then switch to keep the load balanced based on what the gauges say. Usually because I'm bored in cruise. If something else is going on I'll switch on a timer. I look to see that I'm above 26, sometimes if I'm idling for a long time I've leaned on the ground and forgotten to push the mixture back up, now I just don't bother to lean and look for the flow on the roll. A little harder feeding in the turbo since it's all moving around all the time while it spools. One of these days I'll make a calibrated dip stick... Kind of a hassle with those anti siphon flaps though.
  18. I have 4 inaccurate fuel gauges, an inaccurate fuel flow meter, no totalizer, but I'm looking for gas much over 3, 3.5 hours and my watch works just fine.
  19. it's kind of funny that article should come out just recently with this discussion going on. The cost difference is so slight I think I'll just get a new LTE air, it'll be a little smaller than my ipad2 and have the same screen size. my wife still uses her ipad 1, it does everything she needs and still works great. It's like, the only one I've seen in years.
  20. http://www.techtimes.com/articles/76833/20150817/apple-will-not-release-ipad-air-3-this-year-ipad-mini-4-upgrade-will-not-be-significant-report.htm
  21. I may have to do the same, my 2 is getting a little slow but I'm worried the mini may be too small, I already feel like the 2 could use a little bigger screen
  22. It says collision, not mid air collision. They provide additional services sure, but in the end that's all they're responsible for.
  23. Brown is not FAA.
