  1. the other day I didn't have to be to work until after noon so I hopped across the rocks before work, only 80nm each way. On the way there I went around some weather, on the way back I had to go to 15,5 to top it, I was really happy to have o2 on board.
  2. thanks! very helpful
  3. I might have to hassle you later forfor details on your setup.
  4. have you considered putting together your own fill rig? I have thought about it, for the cost and convenience of not having to hassle finding a place to fill me up. A full tank will last longer than the multi day trips I take so I don't usually fill on the road unless it's really cheap or something. (cal-ore in KCEC was $25 when I was there)
  5. it costs $80 to get our built in filled and they usually only get it to about 80%
  6. That's what I'm waiting for. Rumor has it a new mini will be announced in oct or nov, but probably not in sept. If I get an ipad air it's a little smaller overall then my ipad 2 but still too large to yoke mount most likely, if I get a mini it might be too small to read the plates easily. We'll see what they announce I guess.
  7. In wingx I normally run vfr or ifr chart on one screen and my plate on the other, then I can swap them, I don't generally run them in split screen mode. What annoys me is when I go to the chart screen, I still have the banners at the top and bottom, on a mini I suspect this might take up too much real estate, I understand that foreflight doesn't do that and only shows the chart. I don't think I worded the question very well
  8. you guys using minis, any of you running wingx pro? I prefer wingx to foreflight, but it seems that foreflight has a fullscreen mode for the chart, where wingx doesn't, or I can't figure it out. A friend with the mini said the approach plates fit really nice on the mini in fullscreen mode in foreflight. I might have to switch to a mini and the app. I think all the clutter on wingx makes the plate already seem a little small on a full size.

tried to call, he was busy, sent an email, he called me right back
  10. I put a headsets Inc kit in my 20 year old Dave Clarks last week. They're better than my squawk shoppe anr set now
  11. seems to meet most the criteria, found on another forum. Not my airplane.

  13. reviving a year old thread. that's a bold move cotton, lets see how it pays off
  14. sounds expensive. I like our plane, I'd like to keep it
  15. Didn't see those because I kept the search to the modern section, I figured the older planes didn't come with one like I assume the J and K did. I'm also assuming it was a factory install, but haven't pulled the POH to verify it's on the equipment list. I guess if it isn't I'd just remove it, but have mixed feelings on that. I guess that's another debate for another thread.
  16. that's probably the best spot. I'll see if we can get the mechanic to do it. I'm sure it'll require a W&B update.
  17. We have a K model, and I hate the fire extinguisher mount, it's right at the front of the pilot's seat and I'm constantly unbuckling the thing and subsequently losing the little metal rings. Has anyone found a better mount and or location for the thing?
  18. I was going to say it would be nice to be able to flip it around the other way, then I saw the bolt on the front, nice.
  19. The redbird fmx sim is great for this. They're harder to fly than the airplane and I can do a lot of approaches fairly quickly. I try to run through every few months, I think it's money well spent.
  20. It's a first come, first serve system. Sometimes you get to wait. Sometimes people wait for you. Tough.
  21. Sucks for them, doesn't it? I'd like to drive to work and not hit a single red light but that doesn't happen for me either.
  22. Because sun n fun is all normal ops? Come on. It's always the pilots discretion to cancel. 2-1-4. Operational Priority Note: "NOTE - It is solely the pilot's prerogative to cancel an IFR flight plan."
  23. I don't believe they can solicit, gently hint.... different story.
  24. Thanks! Plus they got probably 150 hours of multi plus the meis got a ton. Always sounded like a good idea to me. I went to und, I'm sure I gave you the finger on the way by at some point
  25. He's gigging you to cancel if vfr flight following or trying to get you on a visual if ifr.
