  1. Que up the ROP/LOP rants!
  2. Kurt, you might reach out to Bruce Jaeger and check out his latest offerings for a comparative.
  3. Yes it is Mooney Summit event director and Board member Alex Gertsen. You can watch it here
  4. Agreed, Dmax used to have his event in the spring/early summer. This year they decided to move to the fall and I am sure they have valid reasons. We did make our intentions known of holding the Mooney Summit X late sept early oct at the last Mooney Summit, and even posted it here. One year, MAPA homecoming decided to move their event to the exact weekend we had booked up stuff for the Mooney SUmmit, (2016 i think) We started the Summit back in 2014 in the spring, then MAPA wanted to have homecoming in the spring, so we moved to the fall, and then they changed to the exact same weekend There are a lot of moving parts that prevent the Mooney Summit X from being shuffled further, unfortunately, and this also will give the west coasters a chance to go to an event a bit closer to them in Kerrville It is my understanding that the DMAX event is now a charity event also, formally a 501c3!
  5. Dear Mooney Enthusiast, We had very nice weather for our last event, lunch at Flagler, 8 Mooneys and 1 Bonanza brought 14 people together for good food and conversation. Our next event will be this Saturday, May 11, at the Tiki restaurant at the Fort Pierce Airport KFPR All events start at 11:30. Future events: May 11, Ft Pierce, (KFPR) June 8, Sebring, (SEF). July 13 Williston, (X60). Please let me know by Thursday if you are going to try to come so I can give the restaurant an approximate headcount. If you tell me you are coming, and can’t come do not worry about telling me, just do not come. I do not want anyone flying for any reason if they shouldn’t. This year the Mooney Summit will be on September 27 and 28. If you would like to register go to www.mooneysummit.com Hope to see you soon, Dave and Ruth N46DT 352-408-3343
  6. A lot of folks dont bat an eye on spending 20K on a gizmo and have a tendency to short change the most important system in the cockpit to keep up to date...the pilot. I applaud those that regularly attend safety events like the Mooney Summit, participate in the faa wings programs, participate on this forum, read the Mooney flyer and regularly fly with a systems knowledgable instructor to ensure compentency. You are the guys keeping the insurance rates from skyrocketing any higher, and me from writing checks to your widow.
  7. last time we spoke, it was way less than a plumber would charge per hr
  8. Captain covering your work trip FBO fees? Bet that motivated them some if so. Hard to beat goliaths legal clout on or off track
  9. Check the field wire connection to the alternator. These IO360's have a way of breaking the filed wire there.
  10. Thanks again John for this wonderful donation to the Mooney Summit! Your kind donation will help a downed Mooney pilots family in the time of their greatest need thru our Bill Gilliland foundation. This year's auction will be online and open to everyone. Stay tuned for how and when on www.mooneysummit.com
  11. I have had a few clients do well with Jake, but Jim obviously has had an issue. This seems like putting a chain back on a sprocket . Jim, perhaps you can give him a recommendation or give a hand here
  12. oh no! It's doomed! If the prebuy didn't uncover any corrosion issues, your probably good. I would put a coat of acf 50 on it, and then maybe next year follow with boshield. And I don't care where it is going to live now
  13. Glenn if your at Kdab, go see Jake at Daytona aircraft . they are a msc.
  14. Funny as I had one of those but sent it away with the gent who bought my F. Perhaps a oil pressure sensor and a few turbo vband clamps will fill the obvious void
  15. I have a spare one I keep right next to a gold ingot and a vac switch
  16. Thanks Red Leader. The event dates had to be coordinated with a lot of facilities, etc. I appreciate your posting the corrected dates.
  17. Those nasty bait eating things infected the Tippicanoe river many decades ago. They decimate the crawfish and minnow population and thus destroy the bass habitat. We called them shad.
  18. Joseph, there wont be a Mooney Summit in Kentucky this year. I think you are confusing the Mooney Summit with a MAPA safety foundation event.
  19. How many of you have signed up for the Mooney Summit Sept 27 and 28th?
  20. Adam, reach out to me mike AT Mooneypros.com and we can get you our new pilot info form to complete and our insurance reqs. thanks
  21. Rob, it is a commom issue with the J's that develop over time. You were correct to clean the master switch terminals as it usually fixes the "waving" The VR detects resistance and flips on and off causing the windshield wiper effect on the ammeter.
  22. my go to guy for all things Oxygen is @Scott Ashton. Aerox is his company and he really knows his gases. Scott has been a fantastic supporter of the Mooney community sponsoring the Mooney Summit in addition to being a Mooney owner himself. Questions? Scott can really help, albeit he is busy working his booth at SunNFun for the next couple of days.
  23. I have had a number of clients move on to TBMs after they have owned s long body Mooney. They both are "numbers" planes and behave very similarly. A few have gotten their PPL in the Ovations and Acclaims and paid the big bucks for first year insurance premiums. One Boeing fellow bought an Ovation for his son in lieu of college as he wanted to be an airline pilot. He currently is flying for netjets professionally. Lots of ways to skin the retract time cat, but not too many better than in a Mooney
  24. Dear Mooney Enthusiast, We had IFR weather early and lots of wind for our last event. Four Mooneys brought 8 people together for good conversation and food at Winter Haven. Our next event will be this Saturday, April 13 at the Landing Strip Restaurant at Flagler (KFIN). This is in the same building Hi Jackers used to be in. Foreflight shows their price of self serve 100LL at $5.24 at this time. All events start at 11:30. Future events: April 13, Flagler, (FIN). May 11, Lakeland, (LAL). June 8, Sebring, (SEF).
