  1. I have rudder trim and it was added on by the previous owner so don’t know how involved it was.
  2. Good to know, that’s a short Mooney flight!
  3. You got it! The KitFox should be finished mid summer. I’m really looking forward to flying it and exploring the area.
  4. Looked like a nice plane, bummer! Glad e everyone is okay.
  5. I was hoping to find some new aviation friends in the Missoula area. I bought a place in Lolo Mt and would like to find a hangar in either Stevenville or Missoula. I would love some local intel and new friends in the area! I will be basing my KitFox there and also commuting regularly between Mt and San Diego with my Mooney.
  6. Your flight path doesn’t take you over all the high stuff. With your dog and passengers you won’t be flying in the high teens to take advantage of the turbo. Going east you will be flying high but coming back west you will be flying low. I fly to Jackson and Driggs in mine and have never had a problem with density altitude or even climbing up to 17.5. If you look up tail numbers of all the people that have turbos most don’t fly at the beneficial altitudes and the additional fuel burn eats up useful load and adds additional stops making your trip times slower not faster. If you were flying by yourself I would go turbo but your not. Just my reasoning.
  7. Headache and cough for me. Then about 2 weeks of fatigue after. Total laziness with naps ever couple of hours it seemed like. I forced myself to go outside in the sun and take walks which made me fell great again. Kinda like charging a battery. I would say it was worse than a cold but not as bad as the flew for me. I never lost taste or smell but I would get a whiff of ammonia or smoke smell occasionally. We caught it from my sons nanny.
  8. Was the weight and balance corrected with the additional 168# that comes with the STC?
  9. I have had a lot of luck if it’s really early in the morning or late in the day. When I fly through Mojave Areas 2515, 2502, 2505 usually before 7am and after 5pm you can get cleared through. The imperial valley Area 2510, 2512 before 8am many times.
  10. Pre COVID Jackpot Nevada casino had a great buffet if your into that sort of thing. You can test your cross wind landings on the long skinny runway.
  11. Go to the Jail House steak house for dinner in Ely. Tables are in the old jail cells and the steaks are fantastic!
  12. IFR=I fly roads in that area. I literally just flew that area this weekend and many times before that. The valleys are large and wide with ranch roads, highways and dry lake beds for emergency landings. You will want to fly low or high depending on the winds. You won’t won’t to be on a rigid IFR plan. Winter IFR you will ice up and in the summer up you want more flexibility to go through different valleys to dodge thunderstorms and vary altitude for thermal turbulence. In the area your flying keep you eyes out for large groups of antelope in the valley floors.
  13. Adding, Oil change and filter, R&R 2 EGT probes, replacing spark plugs, Remove loctite and reinstall cylinder base stud. I would say 8 hours total.
  14. I figured:) I always drive my family crazy with my projects at the house.
  15. Your shop looks nicer than most people’s homes!
  16. For the S model it gives a UL increase to be equivalent to the R. No increase for the R model.
  17. Sorry, I wasn’t able to upload to YouTube. Great video!

  19. We do this all the time and love it! I like it so much I don’t put the co-pilot seat back in until I need to.
  20. I am sure you can find someone closer to you but Advanced Aircraft at KMYF(San Diego) has installed several SureFly’s and has fixed a couple of other shops installation that I’m aware of.
  21. Turkey’s in the smoker! Happy thanksgiving:)
  22. Most likely from just running high CHT's but could be a bad batch of cylinders or over an zealous mechanic. Doesn't mean anything is wrong with the bottom end. Bore scope and thorough compression check of existing cylinders should give you the current condition.
