  1. Some people just enjoy filing lawsuits. https://casetext.com/case/iceberg-v-king-cnty-superior-court-1 https://www.govinfo.gov/app/details/USCOURTS-waed-2_22-cv-00332/USCOURTS-waed-2_22-cv-00332-0 https://trellis.law/case/53061/24-2-08710-31/scott-iceberg-vs-grandview-management-services-inc https://case-law.vlex.com/vid/iceberg-v-martin-case-885597779 https://www.pacermonitor.com/public/case/51609048/Iceberg_v_Brookstone_Landscape__Design_LLC_et_al https://www.leagle.com/decision/infdco20210426j05
  2. That's fast. Must be light and well-rigged.
  3. Check the left magneto to see if the retard points are working properly. We recently had this problem during an annual and there was a broken part in the mag preventing the points from closing. The mag was 400 hours post IRAN.
  4. Yes.
  5. Should make it go a lot faster.
  6. You will need an IFR GPS unit to do any useful instrument flying outside of training. And for all practical purposes, you really need to have training on that as well.
  7. KNEW is your best bet. Find a place to stay within walking distance of the museum so that you don’t have to mess with a rental car. Flight Line can arrange transportation for you.

  9. Looks like some good, recent maintenance. ADSB-Out installed 2023 (a plus!), but no flights recorded since then per FlightAware. 38 hours of tach time between 2018 and 2023.
  10. Plus 3 months (minimum) to get a shop opening, plus a month in the shop, plus 5-10k for the problems they find, wiring, static system, antennas, etc.
  11. That instrument panel has neglect and disinterest written all over it.
  12. Find a mechanic experienced with wood construction to do a pre purchase inspection. Have them review the logs as well.
  13. If they start putting liens on airplanes they are inviting litigation. For the relatively small amount of money involved I doubt they would risk it.
  14. I have the LASAR combo as well. Leave them be, especially if removing them will be difficult.

  16. I sent my mechanic a gift basket for checking off the elevator weight AD for me without charging for it. Had nothing to do with the holidays.
  17. Thanks for the update. That the owner over-values his derelict airplane will surprise very few people here. A fancy term for this phenomenon is the “endowment effect.” https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Endowment_effect In my own locale I have observed the same behavior with people that inherit dilapidated houses.
  18. No doubt. Stallings.

  20. "Experimental" is the new "Not Airworthy." And, what's a "light top overhaul?"
  21. I'm not saying this to be flippant; the reality is that it's worth no more than the core value of the engine (maybe) and the few parts that can be scavenged from it. You will not come out financially even on this. The likelihood is that you will be tens of thousands in the hole.
  22. Somebody finally got a good close-up of one.
  23. If you don't have dealer support for an STEC installation in Europe you're wasting your time.
  24. The best way for your questions to be answered authoritatively is to contact an STEC dealer. You would need to purchase the STC from STEC, and they will likely have their own requirements as well, if they were willing to sell it to you. Under the best of circumstances you would be putting together a system with old technology and parts, with the likelihood that you would be left back where you started in short order. I will give you an example. My own 60-2 system was repeatedly blowing a fuse in the pitch computer. It took multiple repair visits to find the problem, a defective preselect computer no longer supported or supplied by STEC. I was able to find a used one (the only one of such module I have ever seen for sale) and luckily it worked.
  25. The reason for that quote is that it’s a lot of work. Everything is going through that panel. I would stick with a shop that has experience doing these, as a mistake can be very difficult to correct. Especially if you fly with passengers and do IFR flying, it’s definitely worth it.
