  1. Call Don Maxwell Aviation in Longview, Texas to see if they can find one for you.
  2. One strategy to keep costs lower would be to defer the non-airworthy issues to give you time to source less expensive parts and labor (maybe even some of your own under supervision).
  3. When flying in clouds or rain in my C I would put the carb heat on and re-lean the mixture. Set it and forget it until in the clear.
  4. If you find the tubes to insert headrests this is an option worth exploring: https://www.csobeech.com/headrests.html
  5. I have looked up Eclectic. Interesting name. The “middle of nowhere” certainly has its advantages.
  6. Let's see, Gatlinburg in the mountains, close to several major cities, beaches, etc. or ... Pineville, Louisiana. Geez, I wonder why the rent's so cheap there?
  7. Two guesses: induction or exhaust manifold leak, alternator.
  8. There is no way you can economically resurrect that plane. It would be a challenge even if you did all the work yourself. Buy a plane that you can fly today.
  9. Here is a troubleshooting guide. 66' Money M20E Flap Pump Diagram.pdf
  10. The discrepancy list looks like the product of an overzealous inspector, at best.
  11. Our C model had an STEC a/p with autotrim. Flew it for 12 years, and the only time it activated was during ground testing. I would occasionally turn off the AP and check trim, and it was never a large adjustment. Never enough that the servo called for it.
  12. You should consult with whoever does your taxes and ,Ideally, a lawyer who is knowledgeable of the LLC law in the state of formation.
  13. Maxwell in Longview, TX.
  14. You asked for opinions, so here you go. I understand that neither you nor your wife have ever lived in the United States. Moving to another country where you have no history or experience outside of tourism because of a political disagreement, as opposed to be being at risk of persecution, is, IMHO, a big mistake. Just as it would be for an American to move to Canada for the same reason. The two countries, their cultures, laws and norms are very different. You and your wife would be fishes out of water. Come here because you love our country, or you want to make your fortune. Don’t come here because you’re unhappy with an election.
  15. Maxwell can repair it. They recently did mine.
  16. When I’m traveling it’s usually to a towered airport. You’re right, it is very rare to get a standard pattern in that situation.
  17. The C in Colorado had a Johnson bar. Very well-equipped. Looking at FlightAware, it appears they were doing multiple touch and goes. Don’t do that.
  18. No way.
  19. Especially if you’re going to be flying IFR, get a G5 or GI275. I have been flying with a G5 HSI now for a few months, and I don’t see any reason to get the fancier model. If you have the money for it, get the G5 AI as well. Then you can delete your vacuum system, and you will have full attitude redundancy.
  20. My expertise is more in the way of writing checks than anything else, but here’s my advice: having seen some awful DIY touchups, find a shop to do it for you.
  21. GA has been "dying" for 50 years. I guess all the young folks buying airplanes didn't get the news.
  22. Downtown or Spirit of St. Louis are very GA friendly. We’ve used both, but mostly KCPS. It’s very easy to get into the city from there.
  23. Why not have Duncan install it? I’m not sure many shops would be enthusiastic about installing a full autopilot system purchased elsewhere.
