Well Ross I’ve got your answer, I’m not attempting to be a smart ass but providing my facts. Around about 1985 I had a very nice Cherokee 160, my instructor had a Mooney model E nice I became enamored with his speed when he passed me one Sunday on our way to lunch at Lancaster which is the home of Weber Mooney Service and Sales. I didn’t want him to pass me again so Mr Henry Weber a very nice honest man made me a great deal on a 1977 201 J which worked well until Mooney went into financial difficulties 1988 they offered planes at a huge discount over prior years but using direct marketing good ol Dirk Vandersee found my contact info and talked us into a looksee he flew a new 1988 up to Wilmington my wife said as long as it’s not red we can be nice and say no and take him to dinner. Coming down the ILS was a nice red and white J being new was faster and new equipment one problem nice Mr Weber wanted to know why I’d buy from Mooney passing him by not giving him a chance I politely informed him of the huge discount he mentioned son, yep I was young at one time but stupid, he said he will beat Mooney’s deal easy any time why the heck would they cut my throat he said after all I’ve done to help the company. So Mr Dirk the deals off I’m dealing with Mr Weber, still go there by the way, oh back to the E model need for speed I was talking to Ross, we some 17 years later wanted to do a lot more trips so along came a new red Bravo GX long range tanks Mooney company again in financial difficulty so I got my last great deal on a Mooney in my quest for speed like Andrei, unfortunately the company being somewhat the sleez they can be and I didn’t know Mooneyscape or any other social site to provide info that a Mooney Acclaim was being introduced I purchased from Premiere who didn’t let the cat out of the bag. Ultimately due to unscrupulous insurance agents I sold the Bravo believing I would’nt be able to get insurance after age 75, after selling the Bravo my lying agent found insurance and I ended up with the speed queen a Mooney Acclaim TypeS. Sorry Ross I really thought it wouldn’t be so voluminous to write up my question for speed like Andrei.

Hello, Wanted to know if anyone has experienced this issue. In two out of my last 4 flights, during my departure checklists (i.e. engine ready running) I checked the full movement of the flaps. After extending to full, they will not retract. I had to pull the flap actuator CB, give it a minute or so, reset it, and then it works again. They work well in flight and after landing (no issues whatsoever). Any thoughts?

Update: New Maggie Harness, Gami Injectors and new Tempest Fine wire Spark plugs... Engine runs runs smoother, more even RPM drop at Engine run up. Also idle is stable after a flight when taxi, before I had some issues were I needed to add some rpm to have it running and not quit. Guess the harness fixed that. Did some Gami spread test and most likely in average I have 0.7 with Gami. Cyl 1 & 3 is to lean. Hopefully Gami will send replacement, they are not the fastest to respond. LOP, is not perfect but now I can at least fly LOP 29.5" 2300 10.1 (LOP 5-15 degree). After some fiddling I can get engine to run OK, but I expect improvement when I get replacement injectors. On my from ESSB to ESML I got a new speed record at FL160. 29" 2300rpm 10.1g/h, Cowl flap closed, All CHT under 369f, TIT ~1590-1600f Tail winds are nice :-)

Lycoming IO-360-A3B6D here. That's exactly how I do it. -
Thank you 1980. I tried the phone & it's disconnected. So I'll try snail mail to both the home & POB.

I just posted - looking for owner finance with a large down payment, if youd consider that I wouldnt negotiate price on this one. -
Hi Everyone, This is a throwaway account for privacy reasons. I'm looking to purchase another Mooney. I owned one in the past. I purchased a business a couple years ago, which drove my DTI ratio through the roof, so conventional financing will be tough. I could do $30k Down, maybe more, and strong monthly payments. Depending on the total price, maybe just 2 or 3 payments. Willing to do this completely legal, use a title lien, etc can can provide bank statements, etc from the business. I will hold the aircraft in the LLC that also holds my business property (about $2M in value). If you would consider this, shoot me a message. I'll come see the aircraft, etc. EDIT: Wanted to add I'm ok with a C or E, etc. Trying to stick with "beggars cant be choosers". I will take a high time engine with newer avionics. Thank you

You may have just found what we call a "hangar queen". The registered owner, which seems to be keeping the registration current is BUDLEY LTD. in MI. The Principal Officer of Buldley LTD is DOUGLAS CLIFTON PARKER. He is listed in the FAA Airman as a Commercial Pilot and Flight Instructor. However the internet shows he is 79 years old. And FAA Airman shows that his last 3rd Class Physical was in 2010 and nothing since then. His FAA Airman address matches the Mooney Registration address which is a PO Box. However, the mailing address of Budley Ltd is a home at 315 TERRACE POINT CIR, MUSKEGON, MI, 49445. The landline is shown as (616) 285-8062 (if it still works).... Good luck. Others may be interested in finding the plane as a project to get flying on a budget.

@0TreeLemur, was this you, Fred??? Either way, it's impressive!

I've decided to take it with me to MKE, so there's no time crunch for picking it up. Edited the post to make the change.

Interesting. Sounds like just used google earth to trace a picture and make a KML file that was uploaded to ForeFlight. Then just hand flew the track shown on ForeFlight.

Thank you for your input. I'm sorry if my first post was not clear- the switch is wired directly to the oil pressure gauge. It is a toggle switch. So in one position the oil pressure gauge works as normal and the factory intended. In the other position. The signal is sent off to a wire is not connected to anything. Perhaps it was at one point, but no longer. It is intentional as the connector is covered with shrink tube and zip tied.

Over Center Gear Link bushing 914020-017 bushing
Fritz1 replied to BrianL29's topic in Modern Mooney Discussion
BAS parted a Bravo out starting about 4 weeks ago, maybe they still have the entire link, otherwise owner produced part, any machine shop with a lathe can make it, worth a try to coax the material specification out of LASAR or a MSC -
I was kind of hoping the pilot was on MS and could give us a behind-the-scenes view Seems like it would take a lot of work. Here’s the original Reddit post fwiw https://www.reddit.com/r/flying/s/NlwCamvh3k ETA: There’s actually a lot of follow up discussion since I first saw the post earlier today, and the OP gave some details on the process.

I wonder what this looks like in the cockpit…gps coordinates for waypoints? Set up with ForeFlight and pushed to panel? How many waypoints? Pretty cool!

toto started following Mystery oil pressure indicator switch
-
Wild guess is that it’s a remote mode selector for the engine monitor. But this doesn’t even look like an aircraft switch, and there’s no mounting screws in it - so it might be something like an input selector for your audio panel. No clue about the oil pressure fluctuation. If you hadn’t chased the wires, I would guess the oil pressure gauge is affected by interference from whatever that switch is controlling. Having a mysterious unlabeled switch that directly affects your factory oil pressure gauge is undesirable.

IO-360 ‘warm engine’ start on M20J
Shadrach replied to Tiny18Driver's topic in Modern Mooney Discussion
I think that’s a sub-optimal approach. I have seen flooded engines catch fire at the pump. I’m kidding. Starting an engine simply requires a combustible mix of fuel and air. I have never had to flood a Lycoming engine to get it to start. -
Hello detectives. I have a new, beautiful M20J. It includes a mysterious, unlabeled switch. My pieces of evidence: 1) when toggling switch, only noticeable change is that the factory Mooney oil pressure gauge pegs high. Toggle switch back, it goes back to normal reading. 2) chasing wires of switch, it appears to be a 2 position switch that interfaced with the oil pressure gauge. The wires on the other end of the switch head towards RH side of panel but are disconnected and tied off. I would like to remove this switch one day, but am curious about what it may have done? Plane has a JPI700 and Fuel Scan 450. Any idea what instrument may have, presumably, ingested oil pressure data when the pilot flicked the switch?
